What goofystitch said...................AMEN!!!!!!!!
Aaron, Sanjaya must go. He has NO TALENT, and there is a solid group of girls the same age as that one that was crying all through the show the other night that vote for him. I wish there was a way for them to stop anyone under the age of 18 from voting..........but there isn't.
Sanjaya is as annoying as someone raking their fingernails across the blackboard.

Anyone catch "Sanjaya" on SNL tonight. The guy performed the song Sanjaya did this week on Idol, during the Weekend Update segment. They even cut to the audience showing people crying. Dan Aykroyd was one of the people crying.
All of the publicity Sanjaya is getting either good or bad is only helping him in the competition I think.
I agree with dvdjunkie the voting system needs to be changed. Actually it has needed to be changed for awhile, not just because of Sanjaya.
I saw that. I let out an "Oh my God!" when Andy Sandburg came out. I paused it and called my brothers to come and see. We were all laughing so hard. He did such a great Sanjaya impression. Andy has big eyes and a wide mouth, so with the hair and creepy clothes, he did a very realistic impersonation. He even sounded like him. (And Sandburg is the other half of the "D*** in a Box" music video with Justin Timberlake). Kristen Wiig is my favorite new cast member and she was so funny as crying girl. When they panned over to reveal Fred Armison and Dan Aykroyd both wearing braces and both crying just as hard, it made the whole sketch. Not to mention Amy Pohler's and Seth Meyer's reactions to Sanjaya, exclaiming things like "He's so horrible!" and "Why is he still on?". I really hope it ends up on Youtube soon so everyone can see it.

QueenRahel wrote:how can you like the show, which IS a SINGING competition, and want sanjaya to win??????? he cant sing better than anyone ever on the show! if you only like the show cause people are screwing it up, then you and all those other people should watch something else
First off, let's get something straight. Just because Simon says at least twice every episode that it's a singing competition doesn't mean it is. It's a reality show! and as such, should be taken with a grain of salt. If it was a real singing competition than they wouldn't have the audience voting every week, they wouldn't have the "dramatic" elimination round, they wouldn't entertain us with really bad singers during the first auditions. If it were a true singing competiton than it would just be another Star Search.
I also resent the fact that you think I only like the show cause people are screwing it up. I am a huge fan of Idol. I just realize, unlike you, that it's a fun entertaining reality show. If good singers get voted off, their talent they already displayed should be enough to get them noticed (like Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, etc.). The world will keep spinning if Sanjaya wins. Sorry - I meant WHEN he wins.
Final note: There's no use in getting testy with me by saying I should watch something else. I live in Canada and can't vote anyway. And believe me, even if I could vote, why would I waste my time hitting the redial button over and over for 2 hours to save my favorite like you Americans do? Do you really care that much?? More Americans vote for Idol then they do their Presidential Election. Now that's something to worry about.
Blake is way overrated... His singing just plain sucks and his intonation is always off... People say he is "modern", which isn't saying much because most "modern" singers suck anyways... I'm all for Lakisha, Melinda, and Jordin; Those girls can sing!

I agree. I really think that no matter what happens on Idol, these three girls are pretty much guaranteed a successful music career. They are all fabulous.
1.) Melinda- I think it's pretty much a given that she will win the whole competition. I would be shocked if she didn't. 2.) Lakisha- She's got a great voice, but she just seems to lack something special that Melinda has. I think it's that Melinda sells each song emotionally. 3.) Jordin- Reguardless of her age, she is a beautiful girl with a beautiful voice and she is so marketable. I think she will go on to have a huge fan base, from HSM tweens to grandparents. She's just really family friendly and talented. I actually hope she works with Disney. Something about her screams "Disney's next it-girl" to me. 4.) Blake- Blake has a very smooth voice and I think he has really good intonation. I don't think I've ever heard his voice get flat or sharp. And on top of that, he makes each week interesting with his new rendition of whatever classic song he chooses. I hope he ends up with a record deal. 5.) Chris R- I can't believe he was in the bottom 2 last week. I really like his voice. I don't really hear a resemblance between him and Justin Timberlake anymore (I did at first). He's got a pretty good voice and I think it will take him pretty far. 6.) Gina- I really like Gina, but she's become very "hit or miss" with her performances. Her version of "Love Child" blew me away, wheras I thought that "Paint It Black" sounded aweful. I like the edge to her voice, very reminiscent of Pink, but I think it will only take her as far as number 6. 7.) Chris S- I like his voice and I like him, but his voice kind of gets lost in the shuffle of all the other talented contestants. And I hate when people sing with a lisp, which I know is part of his average speech, but it can be fixed and he should work on his tongue placement because I can't listen to "The's Not There" on the radio. lol. 8.) Haley- I've liked Haley for a while now and her most recent performance of "Tell Him" was very entertaining. However, she's a better performer than she is a singer. This is a singing competition, so I don't think she will make it beyond the top 8, but you never know. I mean, I've seen contestents like her make it pretty far (Kimberly Caldwell comes to mind). I really hope she ends up doing something in Hollywood after Idol. 9.) Phil- Phil has a good high range, but his low range is weird. Almost any song for a male, even a tenor, has some low notes and he can't avoid them. I think his weird low range and his put-off-ish looks will be his downfall. I would be surprised if he is around past the top 9. 10.) Sanjaya- I don't think anybody will be surprised that he is last on almost everyone's list. He is really bad, he doesn't deserve to be where he is, bla bla bla. I'm sick of saying it. That sad truth is that he will probably be on for at least another 2-3 weeks because he has the Tween vote and the Vote For The Worst vote. But in a perfect world, he wouldn't even be on the show anymore.

Anyone who listens to 'crap-head' Howard Stern has heard that his prediction of a finals between Sanjaya and Blake Lewis is what he is shooting for. I hate Howard Stern, and a 'friend' of mine forwarded this letter from Howard to all his "fans" that in order to get "American Idol" canceled we have to vote for the worst contestants, not the best, and push this show into oblivion.
Obviously Howard is just jealous because he has no talent could not ever be considered for a 'reality' show such as "America's Got Talent", "Celebrity Duets", or "American Idol".
My opinion still holds, the final two will be Blake Lewis and Melinda Doo-lots. With Melinda winning the whole thing, hands down.

IS that so? My friend has a program that can analyze pitches, and he tells me Blake's pitches are way off... I also think he has the worst intonation of the bunch (And I'm not usually wrong when it comes to these things)
Flat or sharp are not in and of themselves necessarily bad. It's being too flat or too sharp in comparison to the right note or waffling between sharp and flat (i.e. "pitchy") that produces a bad sound.

Then why are you just posting messages at UD and not making millions as a record producer easily able to recognize intonations and pitches in good singers?

yes goodreel we are both fans of idol, but you like sanjaya wayyyyy more than i do and for some reason that bothers me no matter what cause i cant stand him AT all......but our rankings are similar with exception of sanjaya, who shows are tastes are not the same......i think everyone has the same top 5.....this years pretty obvious, but okay our votes are kinda similar
Anyone setting their VCR's, DVR's, PVR's, Tivo's, etc. keep in mind that Idol is 70 minutes tomorrow, followed by House at 9:10. At least that's what my on-screen guide says.........
