After searching all over town for 2 hours (in 5 o'clock traffic, I might add. Prince Ali is not a patient driver.), I was finally able to pick up the following:

Image
Music and Lyrics - Music from the Motion Picture

Image
Chicago - Music from the Miramax Motion Picture

Whoo! Incredible tracks on both, except for that awful Cell Block Tango "cover" from Lil' Kim, Queen Latifah, and Macy Gray. Image

Oh, and GREAT CHOICE, blackcauldron85! :D

It's really good! It's more "techno" or something than "Into the Rush"...different, but good!

Wow, what an eclectic taste in music, Dave!

Have yiu had a chance to listen to Paul McCartney's CD yet? Is it good? I'm sure it is, but I'm curious as to what you think of it...!

A few new purchases lately:

Image

Interpol - Our Love to Admire - A highly anticipated release for me, but I think this one is going to be a slow grower. I've seen the band four times (!) live now, so I think I'm definitely in for the long haul with this album.

Image

Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist - I was a big fan back in the day and prepared myself for the worst. After seeing Corgan solo last year at the Enmore in Sydney, I had a newfound appreciation for him, especially giving his time at the end of the show to just stand and talk to the audience. The new record actually rocks in places, especially the opening track. I was honestly expecting self-indulgent wank especially with a title like Zeitgeist. Sure, there is a bit of that on there, and while it isn't "classic" Pumpkins, it is still pretty darn good.

Image

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - B-Sides & Rarities - I didn't get this when it first came out for some reason, but this 3-Disc set was only AU$14.95 on sale ($13 US) and a definite bargain. Some great tracks I've never heard on here, as well as some alternate takes of some classics. The acoustic version of "Mercy Seat" in wonderful.

Hairspray: Soundtrack to the Motion Picture

Unfortunately, I discovered a large scratch when I opened it and "I Know Where I've Been" is affected, so I'll have to swap it out for a different one.

Hairspray: Soundtrack to the Motion Picture

I had to drive all over town to find it! I checked Target, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Barnes & Noble, and Circuit City- all were completely sold out. I finally found a copy at Borders (which, surprisingly, wasn't ridiculously overpriced. That's a first!) and was relieved because I wanted it to so bad! :p It's fantastic!

Hanson- The Walk

I haven't listened to the whole thing yet, but I will soon! It's so amazing!!! I know I say that often about CDs, but this album truly is! For all of you skeptics out there, just give it a listen...try it, you'll like it!

Tegan and Sara - The Con (Special Edition)

Fourth studio album from the Canadian twin alt.popsters. Always reliable for heartfelt and powerful tunes, and a great live act. Sidenote: their mother sold me merchandise once. This special edition comes with a DVD containing 'The Con: The Movie'.

Image

Mark Olson - The Salvation Blues

The first "true" solo album from the former Jayhawk, having released a few albums with his wife under Mark Olson and the Creekdippers (aka the Original Harmony Ridge Creekdippers). On this album he is joined by fellow former Jayhawk Gary Louris. Olson returns the favour on next year's release of Louris' solo album, before they release their next collaborative effort.

Image

The Thrills - Teenager

Having immensely enjoyed the first two albums from the Irish country-rockers, I blind-bought this one yesterday.

Image

Elliot Smith - New Moon

I'm always amazed how many albums the dead can put out these days. Tupac has been doing it for years! Actually, these are largely rare tracks; demos and alternate versions of songs recorded during the height of Smith's career. A fine collection.

Image

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - The Is Is (EP)

Technically, my girlfriend bought this one. But I equally enjoy the work of Karen O and Co.
