Anyway, I don't think I was ever really "excited" about this movie until I just read what Jens posted. If they do those scenes properly, I could like this more than the original. *gasps* Blasphemy! Anyway, am I the only one who loves the shot in the trailers where Lady Tremaine is holding Lucifer (presumably in the palace) and he's jumping down? Her facial expression just looks so incredibly on model (even if her dress is a bit darker than her original one) and brings back to my mind why I absolutely adore her as a villainess. I hated the re-drawn foot-to-slipper scene though.
Okay, many things. First, I agree, stills often don't look as good when they are out of the context of the rest of the animation. As for blasphemy, I know you were joking about it being blasphemy, but that prospect of enjoying the sequel more than the original is scarily possible. Many people think the original was rather boring, and lacked real danger. This certainly adds more danger, and more magic, and the magic bits are the highlights of the first. Still, it would only be blasphemy if you said the animation and art of this was better than the original, as the artists of this sequel are not as trained as those who did the original. The original
Cinderella will always be tops to me, especially since it is the visuals that I most watch it for, and will always be unparalleled in my eyes.
As for Lady Tremaine's gown, I have a felling it's supposed to be "darker", or rather, purple. In every scene of the trailer, it's dark purple, as it is in the promotional images on the
official site. So instead of making her a brand new costume, they either A) had her wearing an outfit that was almost exact, just purple instead of red, or B) the magic of the wand
changed the color of her dress. The web site's image shows a much greener looking garden than in the orignal, so perhaps the wand's power alters colors. What's curious is that the stepmother's dress is its original red on the cover.
As for the redrawn foot-to-slipper scene, huh? Do you mean where that hand slips of the plain shoe in close-up? That wouldn't be called redrawn, because it's not supposed to be the same scene (we never see the Grand Duke remove Cinderella's work shoe in the original). In fact, take a look at this:
In the trailer, there is a hand (probably the prince's) taking off a brown shoe:

In the original
Cinderella, we see that Cinderella's shoes are black, and don't have a heel like the one taken off in the trailer:

But we do see what looks like that shoe on the stepsister's feet. I couldn't find a shot of Anastasia's shoes, but found one of Drizella's:

Conclusion: It's a stepsister's shoe being taken off.

You're welcome, I'm so happy to do it!
