There are only two things I'd add to that great set. 1, have the option to view the movie with on screen lyrics and 2, have the cast or someone teach you the dance steps for the songs. (I could probably do these things on my own with the pause and rewind button on the remote but it's just easier this way)

Not to sound rude, but why didn't you just put the Extended versions on the same disc as the original?

Because there isn't enough room for both versions. Do you even know how long both theatrical and extended version is? LOL! Anyway, thanks for your question.

Escapay's been researching the BBC archive? Whatever next?

Well, he's inspired me to do my own classic Doctor Who Ultimate DVD, and perhaps one of my most wanted titles:

Image
The Kandyman

Doctor Who: The Happiness Patrol

1.33:1 Standard Fullscreen - Original Broadcast Aspect Ratio - Digitally Restored and Remastered by the Doctor Who Restoration Team
1.77:1 Anamorphic Widescreen - Original Aspect Ratio (New Materials)
5.1 Dolby Digital EX (English)
2.0 Original Stereo (English, English Commentaries)
Feature Subtitles (English)

Main Feature: (75 minutes, 3 episodes)
The Happiness Patrol: The Seventh Doctor and Ace visit a human colony on the planet Terra Alpha to investigate a series of unexplained disapperances. They soon discover unhappiness is illegal – a law enforced with sadistic glee by The Happiness Patrol and the planet's cruel executioner the Kandy Man, a robot literally made of candy. For under the oppressive rule of dictator Helen A there is no option but to smile - or face certain death.

Special Features:

Kandyman, Kandyman, Kandyman (Featurette, 45mins)
A "making of" featurette presented by Sophie Aldred who played Ace in the episodes. This featurette would start with Sophie saying the word "Kandyman" into a mirror three times; for no other reason than it's a cool opening meta-joke. This featurette would discuss the writing (addressing the – alleged? - political and social metaphors), the casting, design, filming and reaction to the story.

Happiness on Set (Featurette, 15 mins)
Raw studio footage of the filming of The Happiness Patrol, includes Production Note subtitles. (I assume this footage is available for such a 'recent' story)

The Tao of Who (Featurette, 10 mins)
The Happiness Patrol ends with Helen A learning that "Happiness is nothing without sadness." (as the Doctor puts it). This featurette will look at other Tao like statements the Doctor has made throughout the many years the series has been on air. From "Bad laws were made to be broken" (The Macra Terror) to "Never trust a man with dirty fingernails" (The Talons of Weng-Chiang); "Circular logic will only make you dizzy" (The Two Doctors) to "An apple a day keeps... oh, never mind" (Kinda) it's all here – the total wisdom of The Doctor in Cliffnotes format.

Oddballs (Featurette, 10 mins)
This was one of the stories producer John Nathan-Turner liked to call "Oddball". This featurette traces the history of the "oddball" story in Doctor Who and asks can the Doctor Who format be pushed to breaking point? Including clips from the most outrageous and imaginative stories. Includes The Celestial Toymaker, The Mind Robber, Delta and the Bannermen and more.

Audio Commentary (Feature runtime)
With script editor Andrew Cartmel, actor Sylvester McCoy (The Doctor), actress Sophia Aldred (Ace) and actress Sheila Hancock (Helen A)

Production Notes Subtitles (Feature runtime)
On screen information on the creation and filming of the story.

Isolated 5.1 Soundtrack (Feature runtime)
The incidental music remixed to 5.1 format.

BBC Continuity and Announcements
The interstitials and trailers used before the episodes aired on the BBC.

Photo Gallery
Photos from the making of the story, backed by music and effects.

Mickeyfan1990, that is way too extensive even for the die-hard Batman fans (but I suppose a lot of extras is better than none). And I added a few more "extras" to THE DARK KNIGHT special edition I'd personally want to see.

Ah well, here's another entry:

Stardust: Special Edition
