It is true, anyway, that Disney prefers the stars she creates. Remember "Reflection" with Christina Aguilera? She was a disney tv-show star- along with Britney and Justin (by the way, how come and Disney never thought of using them?).It also happened with Hilary Duff, Raven and so many others. But I insist that they should have Peter Andre's video in the PE; that version of the song is CLASSIC!!!(You can listen to it in the Limited Issue's end credits, at least in the European version of the Little Mermaid's limited issue.)

>NO< Mermaid Gift Set

Post by Disney Villain »

Luke has just posted on the main page that The Little Mermaid will not be receiving a Gift Set. This is the first time in awhile that an October Platinum has not received a giftset.
If you want the Gift Set call the Disney customer hotline (1-800-723-4763) or e-mail them at: Disneyinfo@Disneyhelp.com.

What does everyone here think? I am not that mad I like giftsets, but they just collect dust. They do;however, have the most beautiful artwork.

Well, I think I might be too optimistic when I say this, but: We just saved ourselves $25.

I can see that they will have a Gift Set for The Little Mermaid, no worries!

Well, I rather them not make one so it will be easier for me to say no to it lol. However, it does deserve one, just as all of them do IMO. :)

I just sent an e-mail saying this:

Hi! I'm a huge Little Mermaid fan, and I was wondering why there isn't going to be a Gift Set when it comes out on its Platinum Edition DVD. The Little Mermaid needs a Gift Set, it deserves a Gift Set. I'm sure that a lot of people would be disappointed if The Little Mermaid doesn't get a Gift Set, I know I will. So please make The Little Mermaid a Gift Set! Thank you for your time.

I hope that they at least look at what I wrote. I really want a TLM Gift Set!!!!!!!

I called in about the Gift Set. They said they would forward my message to marketing.

I'm sure Disney is just trying to find every way they can cheap themselves out, like they did with last year's release of Tarzan and The Emperor's New Groove or this year's Dumbo.

It's really a shame that Disney is becoming like this for almost everything they release(Narnia, thankfully, being the exception).

As for me, I don't care about gift sets to be honest.

I just buy the regular 2-Disc sets only!

If I wanted merchandise for a certain movie, I can go to Disneyland.

I'm not a native French speaker, but I studied the language for 5 years and can speak it conversationally.

I'm actually very curious about the French dub of The Little Mermaid PE DVD, too. I hope it is not the same one as the Limited Issue DVD. I was watching that one with the French dub on and I was really bothered by the scene where Eric first meets Ariel after she has been transformed into a human. In the original English version of the movie, Eric says "You can't speak?" after Ariel taps her throat, and she shakes her head no. Eric looks disappointed and says "Oh...then you couldn't be who I thought." In the French dub, Ariel taps her throat, and Eric asks "Are you mute?" Which I think is silly because she still shakes her head "no" after the line, and then he goes back to being disappointed that she can't speak.

I made my call today! I told them that I really enjoyed the sets for Lion King, Aladdin, and Cinderella (and it's true; I have them all and love those books and looking at the artwork...need to find a way to display it...), and was disappointed that The Little Mermaid would not be receiving one as well.

I hope a gift set comes for this. If they make an amazing 2-disc set though I really would be happy with just that.

This was also gonna be my first giftset from the "Giftset Releases"...Now this is just dissapointing....do they not realize TLM is quite possibly the most requested disney movie for dvd ever?

I would buy giftsets if was for some of my absolute fav films...like hunchback or pocahontas or sleeping beauty, but lion king? god no...but thats not a convo for this thread.

This isn't terribly bad news to me, seeing as how I don't purchase the gift sets anyway, but it just makes me so mad that Disney will look for any way to cut corners nowadays with their releases. This move doesn't even make any sense. Hasn't Disney been promoting this thing like crazy? I mean, if I had to pick one movie that Disney would've made a gift set for, I was 100% sure it would've been this one.

Once again, Disney's logic leaves us all puzzled!

Wait a minute! On the cover Triton's tail is green, but in the movie it's blue. At least I think it is.......... I'm colorblind. Anyway, what's with this Disney? Can't you get your colors straight???

I think Disney can get away with that because they normally like to draw everything a little darker underwater, so Triton's tail could be dark green above water, but blue underwater. Triton's tail is never really above water though, so it could be a goof, but I'm not sure.

Disney's questionable logic strikes again!
