With the way the witches hand looks when it "touches Snow White's head, the mirror will probably be lenticular.

Snow White: Diamond Edition

Post by Disney Duster »

Deco King, those trailers were not narrated by Angela Lansbury. It's some other woman's creepy voice. Remember, DVD was a bigger thing than Blu-ray is today.

This release is not a repeat. If it were a Platinum Edition, maybe it would be. But it is a Diamond Edition, at least on Blu-ray. It is entering a new HD format, in a new collection. Remember, every film was released to VHS before DVD, but the DVD release was seen as a new release, not a repeat.

Hm. Something about the bluish queen, and her hag form holding an apple, in the middle of the cover, very big above the star of the film, the princess, with blue puffy sheeves, shoved down at the bottom, also in the middle of the cover, with a castle and a prince on the left side, and a dark scary tall forest with men the princess stays with to hide from the queen on the right side, and that bluebird, all looks very familiar...

Image

Huh.

Dude, that SWatSD cover is totally uninspired! Why not put a picture of the Dwarfs' cottage on the cover and include a package of 36 Colorform stickers of the characters and animals so people can decorate it and rearrange the characters over and over? :P

I wonder , if , bizarrely , The Walt Disney Company * put their Cover Art comissions through an agency , because , when I did an Image Search on Google searching for images of the Wicked Queen /Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs I came across the original Laserdisc/VHS cover art for the original releases on an external Art/Illustration website , see link here : www.coreywolfe.com/disneygifs/wicked%20queen.gif this would account for the lapses in taste/ which have beset this still lamentable piece of Cover Art !!! The Corey Wolfe artwork is great in comparison with the latest Cover Art though!

* I stand corrected !!!

Well, before you all start whining remember what some of us in more backward nations have to deal with:

(my mock)

And for the record, for all of you who feel the need to unnecisarily apply superfluous formatting to every sentence, it's The Walt Disney Company.

I wish the company would use John Alvin's artwork for cover art. He made absolutely gorgeous Disney pieces for movie posters before he died. Look what he made for Snow White!

Image

Wowzers, now that's art! The company couldn't have used that?!

I wish it were more along the lines of the movie posters for little mermaid, beauty and the beast, and aladdin. I thought those were so classy looking...perhaps just the apple bitten with the movie title??

Image

I like it like that! Classy.

I would *love* to see those types of images as the DVD covers.

I've grown to love the australian classification markers. The old ones were ugly xD It's a bit sad though, that the older films seem to automatically receive G ratings whereas more tame yet recent movies get PGs.

I wish that they didn't repeat them when they have slipcovers. MADMAN was very thoughtful of this and actually made it a sticker for their HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE collectors edition DVD.

CampbellzSoup, I love that Aladdin cover/picture.

I would love this one for the Little Mermaid:

I've thought for a long time that poster art would make great DVD cover art. Disney, we know you read this forum. You see what the fans want. :)

Coincidently, the Snow White and the Aladdin paintings/posters were both made by the same artist. :p

I love the Snow White one by Alvin. Here's another favorite one of mine by his. I think it would make a beautiful cover too:

I really like that one, Tim. Usually I don't like characters doubled on a cover, and it leaves a slight bad taste in my mouth because of 2 Snow White's, but I think because she' s in the clouds, it's okay. It is pretty.

Oooh, that's lovely! Where'd you find it, PrincePhillipFan? The Snow White one I posted I got from a John Alvin fan site (http://www.johnalvinart.com/), which has a huge gallery of his paintings and the picture you posted wasn't in there.

I like the Evil Queen's face in that one, and Snow White alone on the ground. It really plays out the best part of Snow White--her innocence. I'd just replace SW and the Prince with something else (to balance out the Queen), maybe the golden castle in the sky at the end.

Sorry if this has been asked/remarked on but...WOW!

Is this the most versions of release any one Disney Animated Classic has ever gotten at one time?

1) Blu-ray/DVD Combo
2) BD/DVD Combo in DVD packaging
3) Collector's Book Set
4) 7 Dwarf Plush Set
5) Limited Edition Collector's Set
6) 2-Disc DVD

I found it here at Sanders Gallery. The piece is called "Romance"

http://www.sandersartstudio.com/servlet ... ce-/Detail

I love all the different elements it captures. Like Divinity said you have her innonence and gentle nature with the animals, the romance with her and the Prince, and Grimhilde in the clouds sort of menacingly looming over them. I like that it sort of also represents the deleted "love triangle" storyline for the film.

I like that, but Snow White looks younger there than she does in the film. I know she is supposed to be young, but she should at least match up with the film version.

Ironically, with so many options, all bundles+sets are/only come with the 2-Disc BD + DVD version.
