The description of the song has piqued my interest as well.
“Lost in the Woods” is arranged like a yacht rock power ballad (yes, seriously) with his body shown in multiples, dancing across the screen and in a split-screen close-up of his face backlit as he’s singing.
I hadn't read that description. Wow, his musical number is going to be very anachronistic. Personally, I don't have a problem with that, I'm just surprised. I'm even more curious about the song now.

I had the luck to attend a press screening in original version in France last Friday.
Can't tell much for now as we are in embargo for now and only can share our reaction and feeling.
I totally loved the entire movie and it was, at least for me, everything what I expected and wished.
It's more mature, the evolution of the characters is perfect and the story is well written and complete what lacked in the 1st movie.
Very funny, very emotional and visually truly stunning.
The songs are great but it's hard for me to tell if each of them can stand alone apart from the acting, visuals and context in the story.
Kristoff's "Lost in the Woods" is very fun, and kind of a rock ballad from the 90s while Anna's "The Next Right Thing" is so moving.
To me, Elsa's "Into the Unknown" is very catchy in the sense that it is stuck in your head whatever you like or not the song for itself, while I will have to listen again "Show Yourself" because this sequence is so emotional, intense, spoilery and stunning that it is too complicated to judge the song apart alone.
Just forget all the stupid fandom controversies that I can't stand anymore personally. Just enjoy the sequel for what it is if you already are attached to the main characters.
It's epic, magic, more mature but keeps the essence of Frozen.
And I will add in a very subjective way that Elsa is just...WOW!
I wonder if I’m not just going to be totally disappointed by the movie as a whole..
Because so many people have claimed this is the best thing ever, it is more stunning/mature/complex... I’m afraid now my expectations are set to be too high..
And I always end up disappointed in these cases..
Also so many people start considering Frozen II as being superior to his predecessor, which is something I really have to forget before I go watch the whole film to prevent me from being too harsh on the movie, for the first one had SUCH an emotional impact on myself and on my life.. (I just wonder: were the people expecting not much from this movie to be so impressed by it? People srr surprised by the plot: well thanks Godness it has a well-developped and structured plot than the Frozen shorts. I know half of the plot thanks to the merchandising, plus I saw multiple clips at the D23 Expo in addition to every clips/footage that has been released in the Internet: and it seems to me like a seriously made sequel, but is it really an objectively absolute masterpiece??)
But yeah anyway, at least we’re sure this movie have good elements in it! I just don’t want to raise the bar too high fir this one, otherwise I’m scared it’s going to ruin my pleasure while discovering the movie.

That CD package for Japan is gorgeous. If only we had got that. I like that mock-up for the Blu-ray cover. That poster's okay, although it looks very Star Wars, just like the Aladdin 2019 poster. I'm not sure it works as well with animated characters as with a live-action film.

STNC sounds cute, but is different than I expected. More Tangled than Frozen. I think I'll save Kristof's song as a surprise. I'm honestly glad he's getting a rock and roll song. Jonathan deserves a big song after being robbed from the last movie.
I'm glad Kristoff is finally getting his own song because Jonathan Groff deserves it. I'm not a big fan of the 90s rock theme to his song though, considering I thought rock influencing the Tangled songs was bad enough.

Going by the hints that maybe we'll see Hans during an end-credits scene, maybe the plotline you proposed is what is planned for a potential Frozen 3 and the catalyst for bringing Elsa back and reuniting her with her sister.

Oh wow, I didn't realize it was so obvious from reading the comments that weren't blocked out. I'm sorry that we might have spoiled your experience even if you're glad now that you're prepared. A lot of people didn't take well to the ending of Toy Story 4 so I imagine this will elicit a similar reaction.

I find it really odd that they disavowed the two shorts especially since they were involved in making those and even said that those shorts were instrumental in setting up Frozen 2 and were thus required viewing. Maybe they're backtracking because of the negative reception to Olaf's Frozen Adventure or maybe they're afraid that people who didn't catch them will feel at a disadvantage.

I never thought the shorts would be consequential to Frozen Ii. One is Anna's birthday, the other is a Christmas celebration. Nothing important happens there, maybe only the attic scene and that too was too short to have any significant. If they had claimed the shorts are important for Frozen II, then they were lying.

Yes. I don't even remember anything much happening in the Frozen shorts (not like "Tangled Ever After" that showed Rapunzel and Flynn's marriage), so what story relation would there be? I guess Elsa could reference that time she acted drunk.

the shorts were retconned into being non canon b/c it conflicts with Elsa characterization in the sequel. She seems happy and comfortable with being queen in the shorts but the 2nd film she's supposedly doesn't feel uncomfortable being queen which is why she ends up feeling more like herself and at ease when she become a spirit in the enchanted forest and leaves her position as queen to Anna. Also Olaf melts and reforms himself with no alarm and its seen as comical in OFA but in the sequels his melting leads to a temporary "death", and is meant to be a serious dramatic scene.
btw if the shorts are gonna be considered non canon anyway, why not give Hans a redemption storyline in one of those instead of a film, then Jen Lee can just say its not canon when the Hans haters start bitching about it.
That's quite a reach. There's nothing at all in the shorts that needs retconning. Elsa is happy to be with her sister without closed doors, but I don't quite remember her being happy as Queen? I think the people that hate Frozen see what they want to see, even if it isn't reality.
And I don't think there is anyone who hates Hans? They just don't believe the character should be redeemed or that he has any further purpose to this story. I like the character fine for what he is--a villain. Some people can accept what the story is and some can't, I guess. But I don't think Disney's worried about an audience backlash for failing to redeem the villain from the first film.

I think the shorts are just optional. If some want to consider them, that's fine. If others don't, the main films don't really need them. They are just an appendix if someone wants to spend another half-hour with the characters.
