There is a little mermaid poster in Tangled ?!?!?!? I've been away from this thread for too long !!
And the short ?? I think that is a wonderful idea; a happy compromise between having a sequel/not having one. (Though why Pixar are allowed sequels left, right, and centre, and Disney aren't, is not something I understand......).

I think it's because their sequels are generally high quality. I think both the TS sequels surpass the first, and that's saying something.atlanticaunderthesea wrote: (Though why Pixar are allowed sequels left, right, and centre, and Disney aren't, is not something I understand......).
But the Cars sequels do feel like milking because of the successful merchandise. Of course, maybe Pixar was disappointed that the film was their least successful film (critically/financially), so they wanted to make up for it and bring more out of the characters? Possibly.

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

I hadn't really thought of it that way, but to be fair I've always liked the original and think the sequel looks fun regardless. Cars seems well-liked by the general public; it's harshest critics seem to be the hardcore Disney animation fans. I know a lot of more casual movie fans that simply can't wait to see the sequel.Disney's Divinity wrote:Of course, maybe Pixar was disappointed that the film was their least successful film (critically/financially), so they wanted to make up for it and bring more out of the characters? I think Pixar also gets a pass sequel-wise, because their films are original concepts nor are they done by a secondary department. Most of Disney's animated features are based on old stories, not to mention their sequels are done by their television department and with little to no consent by the original filmmakers.
