Yeah, regular IMAX don't expand. They generally remain the same size.
No IMAX screens where I live, so the UltraScreen is usually the best choice, aside from the occasional trip to the nearest IMAX cinema.

It might me a teensy bit bigger, but not the gigantic screen that IMAX is trademarked for. My motto for IMAX is "If it ain't huge, it ain't worth it". For $17.50, just "slightly bigger than normal" wouldn't cut it for me. I'm sorry, Amy.
I was talking with another friend about this today, since he invited me to see "Watchmen" in IMAX, and I told him about my IMAX experience, and he showed me a couple articles about how newer IMAX screens in established movie theaters aren't the huge screens that IMAX is known for. I wouldn't have gone to the JB movie at all if I didn't have money coming, so I mean, it's almost like it was free...I still had a fun time, and I learned my lesson!

Like I said, some of the screens in established movie theaters are still quite bigger, though, so you should probably take him up on his offer.
State Fair (1962 Version) - I don't know why this remake got a bad rep. It's not that bad, actually. A little hokey and schmaltzy, perhaps, but it's R&H - what did they make that WASN'T hokey and schmaltzy? Besides, seeing Ann-Margret being all fierce was worth it.

Doubt - I had been wanting to see this since I first heard about it in the summer, but didn't have the chance to until tonight. I loved it. Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were stunning, and I thought Amy did a better job than Viola did, though that may just be me. I thoroughly enjoyed it and strongly reccomend it to everyone.

The IMAX screens I've been to a much different from the regular movie-watching experience. You feel like you're in the movie!
Finally got around to seeing Slumdog Millionaire. Overall a great movie but I'm still not certain it's Best Movie material, yet still far better than the usual Oscar-type fare. I found the cinematography (which won over The Dark Knight's) to be pretty mundane except for the rare moment of brilliance, but maybe that's just me. I was most impressed by the children's acting. Movies can really fall on the case of the kid not being able to act sincerely, and gladly that is not the case in this child-heavy feature. 8/10

Today I saw House of 1,000 Corpses again and Forgetting Sarah Marshall for the first time. Corpses obviously borrows pretty strongly from Texas Chainsaw and other stuff, but I appreciate some of the things it does to throw back to those sorts of films, like casting victims that weren't WB/CW style hotties or anything like that (though watching Corpses does remind you how much easier on the eyes those types are, ha). Though there are things I don't like about it, I enjoy enough of it to revisit it now and then, particularly with people who haven't seen it. Captain Spaulding is definitely an entertaining character. As for Sarah Marshall, I didn't see the beginning, but I enjoyed this one a lot and Kristen Bell was just breathtaking in it! Definitely want to get that movie, and Kristen Bell is no small part of my desire to own it, ha. It IS very good though.
Oh, and I saw Waterboy earlier today for the first time in a long time. Caught it (or most of it) on TV. I need to get this one on disc. I used to have it on VHS but sold a bunch of my tapes and I'm pretty sure it was one of them. I also saw this new DVD out that was produced by Quentin Tarantino. I think it was called Hell Ride or something like that. It was about motorcycle gangs fighting over a treasure of some sort. At least, I THINK that is what it was about. What an awful mess of a movie! Sadly, it had some actors I liked mixed in here and there. But, wow, it was horrible! Still not totally sure about the plot.
I saw Victor/Victoria (1982) again with a first timer (straight). He liked it. I don't think it's that great a film (could have been funnier, imo), but I admire the performances and it was one of the first films I saw that spoke to me as a gay boy.
And I LOVE the LE JAZZ HOT number.
Song of the South: I enjoyed it, I don't see any reason why Disney shouldn't release it.
Australia: Omg. This film was absolutely beautiful. From the story, to the acting, the cinematography... it was just amazing. I can't fathom why this only got one Oscar nomination. Oh how I love Mr. Luhrmann.
