Snow White (Live-Action)

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Someone wrote down the lyrics of the remake's version of "Whistle While You Work:"

Source: https://x.com/SnowWhiteNews/status/1822771610539139214
Here are the original lyrics for comparison. The parts in red are the ones that have been replaced by new lyrics, some of them to reflect the fact that the dwarfs are now also part of it. Then they added more verses at the end, I guess since the original doesn't have many lyrics as it has large instrumental portions.

You clean the fireplace, and I'll use the broom)
Just whistle while you work (whistle)
And cheerfully together we can tidy up the place
So hum a merry tune (hum)
It won't take long when there's a song
To help you set the pace
And as you sweep the room, imagine that the broom
Is someone that you love, and soon you'll find you're dancing to the tune
(Spoken: Oh, no, no, no, no! Put them in the tub.)
When hearts are high the time will fly
So whistle while you work
(instrumental break)
(Spoken: Ah, ah, ah, ah! Not under the rug.)
(instrumental break continues)
So whistle while you work

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
My apologies, Brelly! As fake as those images looked to me, they really were from the film!
And my apologies, Vlad! That picture you showed us of Zegler as Snow in her "maid" outfit with the apron with blue lines on it (what do you call that pattern?) was the REAL costume! It looks...ok.
In fact, all the costumes look ok. And the scenery and CGI...ok.
So, it's beautiful, but just ok.
I did like the trailer.
I did not like that we see the Queen's shadow become the hag's shadow. That better not be the extent of the transformation! And no skull poison on the apple?!!!
Snow making the dwarfs clean to be less sexist is a groan but whatever.
I await seeing the final film to judge if it is good or bad, or most probably, just ok.
Thank you D82 for the clip, in it, Zegler's acting is...ok, too, lol. She is like a modern version of Walt's Snow White. Makes sense from what we have heard. But her singing is amazing, the one part that is more than ok.

What I don't like is that She doesn't clean anything. Did they really thought that with this change she's more feminist? I mean, she's only singing about how funny is cleaning while the dwarfs and the animals do all the hard work.

I posted above I didn’t hate the trailer, but after watching the Whistle While You Work sequence, the hate is back. All the charm of the original sequence is gone. And what’s worse, probably deliberately so.
The trailer is getting obliterated on you tube

Ok, you guys are making assumptions and stating them as facts, i.e. Whistle While You Work was altered due to feminism. No one said it was. Snow is teaching the miners how to clean their cottage, and maybe using a skill she learned herself from being a scullery maid — whistling and singing makes a boring activity seem more fun and less laborious. It’s similar to Mary Poppins teaching the Banks children that cleaning can be fun in A Spoonful of Sugar, or Fraulein Maria teaching the von Trapp children to think of their favorite things whenever they’re scared (or to yodel really loudly to drown out thunder if we’re talking about the stage version).
Haven’t we learned from The Little Mermaid that a lot of things that were said online ended up being not true once the movie was out?

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Mary Poppins teached the kids to clean the room while she was singing and working. Here Snow white is singing and dancing while the dwarfs and the creatures are making the hard job. What's bad about making her cleaning too? Snow has always been criticized because of her cleaning and waiting for her love. Disney doesn't change these kind of things because they are bored. They make it to avoid polemics.tsom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 9:05 am Ok, you guys are making assumptions and stating them as facts, i.e. Whistle While You Work was altered due to feminism. However we are totally free to say what think about the trailer or about the scens thar have been leaked. We are not talking about the whole movie, we are talking about what we saw.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
You're free to say whatever you want. It's the way it's said, implying choices are made due to social or political reasons. Why is it automatically because of feminism that Snow White isn't cleaning? Why can't it be that she's imparting some wisdom or new skill to the miners? Heck, the girl needs a break after years of serving her stepmother. It's just annoying when every change is automatically seen as a calculated political or social agenda when it could just be something innocent or something that suits the story they're trying to tell.Thumper_93 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 12:29 pmMary Poppins teached the kids to clean the room while she was singing and working. Rachel has been the first one who talked about a more feminist characters and about all the changes that they “made” her. It also happened with Belle during Emma's interviews.tsom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 2:09 pmYou're free to say whatever you want. I’m not saying that I don’t like the trailer but it's a fact that in the last years Disney changes things because social agenda and that Snow white has been one of the most criticized princess of all time.
I understand the fact that She’s been working as a cleaning maid all her life but if you are going to live in a home that is not yours then you have to help to keep everything clean. In the animated she's the first one who offers herself to help and to cook if they let her stay in the cottage.
However I don't wanna you to take this as a rude conversation. I didn't want to feel anybody unconfortable with my opinion

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
There's something that has been bothering me about the queen's costume.... and I couldn't figure it out at first. I mean, the lack of the white collar (or any high collar) is one issue.
I realized part of what's bothering me is the shape of the crown: in the animated film, the crown flares out from her head.... in the live action, it sort of continues upwards and tapers into a point, giving it a sort of torpedo look. That, combined with the almost-catwoman-like costume (all black, one piece; in the 1937 one there were separate pieces to it) makes for something that just looks too tight and uncomfortable to me.
I suppose I expected a certain silhouette for the character and it's very different... and it's not working for me.
The Jolie Maleficent costume is definitely different than the animated one, but the silhouette of the character still reads. Helps me/us recognize her as the live version of the 1959 character.
All my opinions of course.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I didn't like the crown because of the iridiscent colors. A golden one would have been much better but I have to admit that Gal looks great in general. Maybe they choosed to make the crown like that in order to make queen's Beauty more artificial in contrast with Snow White, who has a more natural beauty. I can't wait to see more details about the look and the colors that it actually has.
What do you think about Snow's blue overskirt? I think that it looks great but i would have looked better if the body would have been darker.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I was on holiday, and I wasn't able to leave my thoughts on the trailer yet. I must say it managed to surprise me in a very good way, I really like how it looks. Gal Gadot looks so good in that shot where she descends the stairs, with her cape flowing behind her. And Rachel looks ok in her costume. That rendition of Whistle While You Work sounds lovely, almost very Broadway like.
I love how they kept the scene of her running through the forest. It's one of the best scenes in the animated movie.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Thumper, I'm afraid I don't have an opinion on the blue overskirt, the images aren't clear enough for me to judge.
And I agree that the crown should have been gold (maybe with more details/ornate than the animated one)

Let's wait then to see better quality Pictures of the overskirt! BTW I'm glad that they added something like this into the gown. It makes it looks more elaborate.

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
I'm honestly not a fan of Gal Gadot playing the evil queen. The evil queen in the og movie has the classically beautiful, cold, and sharp look to her which doesn't describe Gal's face. It doesn't help that Gal can't act to save her life, but that's a whole different story.
If you guys didn't know, the evil queen face was based on Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich, so they should've hired an actress who looked similar to the two.
(This is Joan Crawford. She shares the same eye shape, face shape, and lips as the evil queen.)

(This is Greta Garbo)

(This is Marlene Dietrich)

Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Ooooh... that cape is hideous (on the doll). I hope it's not like that in the movie. Looks pretty psychedelic... it's the 1970's!
Re: Snow White (Live-Action)
Fans are speculating that Jonathan and the Queen might have an encounter in the movie based on this image from the trailer:

Nice to know you like it so far, Vlad! I agree, Gal going down the stairs is great, so is Rachel's singing Broadway-like great, and it's so great they are keeping the creepy forest scene! And did you catch, you were right about the scullery maid costume!:
I do like Snow's blue and red overskirt.
OMG Marce, so right about the ugly 1970s cape!
