i agree. i missed dragon in theatres, as the nearest 3d cinema was 3 hours away. i did rent the blu as soon as it came out and watched it twice back to back, then spent a few weeks hunting high and low for my own copy. i love the animation and humor. toothless cracks me up with the regurgitated fish bit, lol. the flying scenes are really impressive.
i think the only reason ts3 won is because it IS toy story 3. if cars 2 had been out instead, i dont think it would have won. i think dragon would have taken it out.
I'm surprised Tangled grossed an estimated $1,655,647 this Monday in the states, more than the Sunday before. To put that into perspective, the Monday before, it grossed $275,746.

Well, yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, so pretty much every public school was off. If I didn't have classes and had a car on campus, I might have gone and seen a movie as well.
I read it the first time you posted, though I didn't comment. It was a good article. I especially liked your take on possible Christian themes that could be found from it, especially the "IStL" part.

They forgot all about the treats I brought for them to snack on and I had to (sternly) nudge them to tempt them with a jelly baby. When we left they were full of questions. They knew other versions of the fairytale and told me that this one was 'just a story, not the real Rapunzel', but that they liked it better anyway.
Oh Disney...Oh Disney. When you used to make what felt like 'the real' versions of the classics.

Please justify yourself. What is a fake version of a classic? Version by definition means an adaptation, as of a book or play into a film, thus there cannot be a 'non-real' version.
I don't see what is so Shrekish about Tangled at all. The movie shares much so elements with the original it's one of the more faithful adaptions in their canon.

Yes, I remember those moments well, both you and Disney Duster, but it's all well and good. It's what matters now that we should care about. I was
not too fond of them changing the name of the title, but I don't care about that as much as the movie itself. Rapunzel is brilliant and charming, and I
shall be buying the Blu Ray without any doubts! ^_^
Hope to share more thoughts with everyone as time goes by. I am thoroughly enamoured of Rapunzel and will be unable to keep my
mouth shut for too long!

Well, I suppose it could at least encourage children to read the originals, as opposed to just watching a film version and lazily taking that as the definitive version. Helps stop child illiteracy, methinks.

I thought <i>Tangled</i> was much more "real" than Disney had marketed it to be -- more "real" than they give it credit for, at least. In any case, it was much, MUCH less <i>Shrek</i>-like than I had feared.

Hi guys!!!!!!!!! Today I saw Glen Keane on a spanish TV channel and I died! I've searched some info very quickly and I find the hotel where Glen, Byron Howard and Nathan Greno are staying (Here in Madrid), so I called a friend and ran right there, just to ask someone.
No one from the hotel knows nothing (as usual) and we stayed there like an hour, watching my Disney books I've brought there.
Then I saw a woman with a Tangled notebook and when I looked up there was GLEN KEANE!!!!! Just in front of me!!!! I was frozen saying "Glen?? GLEN??!" And he "hi, how are you?" coming closer!!
Well, they were surprised when I told them we were there waiting for an hour and the woman ask them to leave, then Nathan Greno said "No no, if they have waiting for an hour, we can stay a little more".
They all were sooo kind!!! Very nice!! They sign my copy of The Art of Tangled, take a lot of photos with us.... =DDDDD I'm so happy!! I though I'd never have the honor to meet Glen Keane!! =D
And the funniest part: I told Glen I went to New York only to see Tangled, and he got a very very surprised expression and told me "Oh my god! Did you like it?!" And I told him that I love it, then Glen said "Uff! Thank god! If you had not liked the film we would have to kill us!" (Or something like that) xDDD

he is God. don't you ever dare question the God-like drawing abilities of Glen Keane on this forum again!
Kidding aside, he is good. I guess what people like about his work is that unlike the average Disney animator he has a very specific style of drawing that he brings into whatever he does.
I do agree that I probably wouldn't start screaming and crying and kissing the ground he walks on if I ran into him though.

Thank you so much Yes, that is one of the things I like. If you choose to, you can see themes such as these. But they are not overt. There's subtlties and if you look for them you can find them, and if not the film is still moving in universal ways.

For me, it's because his amazing talent is only matched by his sincere kindness. This kind of a rare thing in hollywood, especially.

That's so cool. Did you ask them anything about the movie? Could you post the photos you took?
