I hope it's still being made as a half-CG/half-hand-drawn film. :(

I thought MAMS got shelved after DW layed off a bunch of people recently? I hope it is back in development!

But I would love it if theyd go back to 2d if just so they can say "see we still believe in 2d, & humiliate Disney & give them a kick in the butt. It be awesome if John Karrs left b/c DW asked him to direct a hybrid film for them. But now that theyve had 2 big flops I cant see them risking anything gutsy like 2d. I think they even had a half 2d project "My and My Shadow" & they pulled it after ROTG flopped. :(
"Me and My Shadow" returned to development in February. I'm glad because I was really looking forward to it. :D
I'd like to know how you know that, along with where you heard that.

It's back in development but DreamWorks doesn't know anymore what year to release it. It might be all CGI instead of a 2D/CGI hybrid so 2D fans shouldn't get too excited.

Disneyjedi is going to freak.
Oh, Wade. Don't you dare go and call the kettle black.

Anyways, let's just hope they don't change their mind about the hybrid thing.

I know I said this before, but if Princess & the Frog should of been a box office success and make that stupid Chipmunk Squeakqual a flop, none of this would of happen. Disney needs to stop listening those greedy hand drawn hating financial people and do another hand drawn animated movie. So Disney, stop being o bunch of babies and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEtm_Q2LK9g

To be fair they shouldn't of really put out P&TF the same time as Chipmunks. Chipmunks was going to be a huge success anyways to due it being nostalgia for the parents and that " cool, hip hopish " factor for the kids. P&TF didn't stand a chance. Disney should've waited for Valentines Day and marketed it as a romantic, sweetheart movie and do different TV adverts that appealed to the kids or something... just anything but what they did....

I still stand by my assessment that the title harmed the movie's box-office potential more than anything else. As was pointed out by somebody on the Frozen thread, boys don't want to see movies about princesses. In addition to the title, there was a big deal made about Tiana being the first black princess and it's most likely boys thought "ew, princess." Hence the switch in titles and marketing materials for Tangled and Frozen focusing less on the protagonists being princesses.

So you're suggesting that Disney ignore the financial people and continue releasing films the way you like to see them as they throw money down the toilet? Thank goodness you are not running Disney as the company would last less than 5 yrs if it ran by your policy.

I don't get this " Princess = Boys euck they won't see it " Thing.

Boys, Men LOVE Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast.

Doug Walker for a example adores B & B
Siskel and Ebert Old Movie Reviewers loved Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast and preferred them over movies like Lion King.
And my oldest brother in RL his favorite Disney movie is Beauty and the Beast.
Dad ? Loved Little Mermaid.

Boys do like Princess themed Disney movies.

It's just that today there's the Princess Collection which has created a poisonous stigma that Princess themed Disney movies are " Girls Club Only " Which so isn't true. But even with that, boys have still enjoyed Princess movies or feminine Disney movies.

I still don't get what Disney is trying to do (I perfectly get it, this is how they get money) They sell the idea of a "both gender" movie and then they sell all this sparkly pink merchandise and they tag every female character in "Girls" section in Disney Store. They are inclusive with boys so they just watch the movie and makes them earn millions but then they are exclusive with boys to sell girly stuff and earn more millions. They'll rule the world someday 8)

Influence wise don't they already. I think what they really need to do now is make a Disneyland in Russia. I mean why have they not done it yet after the USSR fell. Unless it would mean going up against another powerful entity known as Putin who would want nothing American in his country.

I've said this on another thread here, and I might as well say it again: I want another 2D animated film from Disney just as anyone does. However nothing is achieved through ranting, name-calling, or crying fowl. All we can do is hope that someday handdrawn animation will gradually make a comeback to inspire Disney to doing so again.

Yes, but we can rant about not having it in the meantime.

I think it is keeping some of us out of jail.

Yeah, but would any of them see THE LITTLE MERMAID over say, STAR WARS or STAR TREK?

Didn't think so.
