That post is very funny to me as well, plus I'm glad you're excited for Raya and the Last Dragon as I am. In the end, I would rather have Elsa as the 5th spirit to bring all 4 spirits together rather than Ralph being the way he was in his sequel, just sayin'.DisneyEra wrote:Much appreciatedJeanGreyForever wrote: Lol, I always love your posts.

The idea of it becoming like an anime series would be a plus, imo. Quite a contrast to most Disney princesses who are almost always the weakest person in their films.I've always hoped there would be a magical villain Elsa could combat anyway. Even if it doesn't look like we're getting that in Frozen 2, there's a possibility for it in Frozen 3.unprincess wrote:So Im gonna assume that whatever happens after this film, whether a 3rd sequel, shorts or a series, will take place during the 3 year gap that takes place before the 2nd film. B/C if Elsa literally becomes a goddess at the end of Frozen 2 where do you go from there as far as antagonists/conflicts? Unless you introduce other antagonistic spirits/gods. And then it turns into a shonen anime, where we end up with a bunch of overpowered characters trying to one up each other.
As for other spoilers, I don't mind at all that Olaf might "die" for a little while. It's not the same as the first film to me.
I don't really understand what DisneyEra means. I don't think Ralph was out of character at all in WIR2. He was insecure, bumbling, and felt left out in the first film. Naturally he'd feel similarly once his only friend leaves him. And I'm afraid you'll be disappointed if you're expecting Raya to be a weak female character to "balance out" the powerful Elsa here. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting originality from Raya, too, for that matter.

I hated Ralph's portrayal in the sequel too. It wasn't just that he was a clumsy and bumbling oaf, because that was the case in the original film as well, but he was desperately clingy and possessive of Vanellope to an unhealthy level. So many characteristics of Ralph were portrayed as toxic to the point that the villain of the film is literally Ralph's insecurities coalescing into a freakish, hyperactive monster with no boundaries.Musical Master wrote: That post is very funny to me as well, plus I'm glad you're excited for Raya and the Last Dragon as I am. THANK YOU!!!! People are acting like he was perfect in the first movie when Ralph was even more bad tempered and a bit more of a baby in the first movie.Disney's Divinity wrote:I don't really understand what DisneyEra means. Re: Frozen 2
What I mean is how WiR was promoted in his sequel. He was not main character, it was Vanellope. Also, the Wrecked Princesses. All of the promotional material i.e. Posters in general basically showed Ralph being a Moron. Elsa is getting the opposite treatment. Extremely overpowered, new cloths, hair style, she looks flawless!Disney's Divinity wrote:The idea of it becoming like an anime series would be a plus, imo. As for Raya, she won't be like Rapunzel/Anna & Elsa/Moana. She won't be a Princess & won't sing any songs. I'm curious to see how WDAS promote her & how she'll be excepted. No disappointment at all.
Re: Frozen 2
All he wanted in the Original movie was just to be treated as an equal with everyone else in the game. He wasn't even invited to his game's 30th Anniversary party. Like Gene said "Your just a Bad guy who wrecks the building".disneyprincess11 wrote:THANK YOU!!!! Re: Frozen 2
WIR was insecure in the first film because everybody treated him like a dirty loser and a nuisance, even in his own game. All he really wanted was to be accepted and valued by everyone.
Elsa was overpowered in the first film. She could create living, sentient beings like Olaf and Marshmallow, and could easily cause global destruction if she had the desire. But I understand the need to criticize female characters has an irrational basis, not a logical one.DisneyEra wrote:Extremely overpowered
Funny. I expect her to be treated very similar to Moana and that she will be inducted into the princess line a few years after the film's release, even without songs. And the film itself will be a buddy comedy / roadtrip, of course. As for Raya, she won't be like Rapunzel/Anna & Elsa/Moana. She won't be a Princess & won't sing any songs.

Re: Frozen 2
Who said I was criticizing Elsa? I was just pointing out that she is treated much better by the studio than Ralph was. Elsa had no idea the extent of her powers in the first film. She had no idea that after her secret was revealed at her coronation, that she created a snow storm that would freeze all of Arendelle.Disney's Divinity wrote:WIR was insecure in the first film because everybody treated him like a dirty loser and a nuisance, even in his own game. Raya will only be accepted in the Princess line if her character is Popular & sells a lot of merchandise, which remains to be seen. And of course it's gonna be a buddy road-trip comedy. That formula has worked brilliantly for WDAS post Tangled. Until a Revival feature "underperforms" critically & Box Office wise WDAS won't shift course.

Raya isn't based on previous source material. It's not another adaptation of Rapunzel/The Snow Queen or Marvel Comics Big Hero 6.Disney's Divinity wrote:Yes, but what it’s not is “original.”DisneyEra wrote: And of course it's gonna be a buddy road-trip comedy. Wreck it Ralph was based on Video Games, Moana was based on Polynesian culture & Raya will be based on South-East Asian culture.
They've been doing Snow Queen features for years, Frozen is just WDAS adaptation.

Re: Frozen 2
So? It will be following a clearly-defined and easily predictable formula. Raya goes on an adventure to save her world from destruction along with another character who’s her wisecracking opposite—pretty similar to most films post-WIR, but particularly Moana.DisneyEra wrote: Raya isn't based on previous source material.

Finally someone else who also disliked Ralph's portrayal in the sequel! What I disliked was that he was the biggest douche instead of Vanellope. At first I thought that Vanellope was going to be the whiny and unlikable one, due to the mere selfishness of her character. But Ralph actually proved to be even a bigger jerk than she ever was!JeanGreyForever wrote:I hated Ralph's portrayal in the sequel too.
