Admitting you have an addiction is the first step to recovery ;)

Back to the topic of dvd covers, didn't the vhs ones have Hidden Mickey's on them supposedly? If the dvd covers had those then I might just spend more time looking at the cover trying to find them :P

Also, Duster, why all the panic over *this* cover? Out of all the dvd releases, Live Action, DTV's, T.V Shows, and all the other DAC's why make such an outcry over Snow Whites? There's been terrible cover art for some (maybe a lot) of the other DAC's yet I don't recall you making as big of a deal out of it.

Is it because it's a Princess film? If so that's pure crap, same if the reason is because Snow White "Was the first film and thus deserves/needs a really good cover" that's also a crap reason. The fact it's a Princess film should mean nothing in the long run, and just because it was the first DAC doesn't mean it should be given some big royal treatment and held high on a pedastel above the others

Now I'm not saying those two reasons are your reasons for making a deal out of this, just trying to point out in advance why those two reasons are crappy ones. Not trying to put words in your mouth :)

The way I see it, if the art is crappy it's crappy. It doesn't make the film any less good than it is, or make it look bad in any way or make it less of a masterpiece or suggest that the art of the movie is poor. It just means Disney didn't bother too much with a cover. Besides, there's some people out there who might even like the cover for all we know.
The Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs Cover Art should at least be the equal of it's two previous Animated Classics Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio , and it's far and away the worst out of the three!

I like the current image of Snow White on the Blu Ray cover herself better than the first version , I just think it's way too crowded , the Collectors Book version ( which uses the Snow White holding the Poisoned Apple from the original 2001 Platinum DVD ) surrounded by nicely drawn heads of each dwarf , and a new image of the Wicked Queen's reflection in the Magic Mirror , has a much nicer look to it!

So I wish I knew everyone else's reasons for not caring about the cover art when they love the films for their art. Of course 'I just don't care' isn't so much a reason as all you can say, just all you can say, 'cause it's true, but, that's just all you can say.

But I do agree that, as Disney's most important film, it deserves a really good cover. This is just undeniable. Of any of the films to get a good cover, this one has to be it. Even if it's not the most popular, not thought as the best, it is the most important film to the company, as well as the most respected (officially from/within Disney), and the most deserving of good treatment.

There's no reason for a crappy cover. To argue would only be giving crappy reasons yourself! Now, crappiness is opinion as far as composition, but not drawing, as we know on-modelness, as well as just good drawing when we see it, and as it stands we know all the characters that need to be drawn better are the dwarfs, maybe the prince and the queen, and a lot of people say Snow White but I'm an artist and I say she's okay so maybe she's just barely good enough. She's not drawn crappily, is the point. But if this film got a badly drawn cover, or there was anything else showing no effort, that would indeed be a disgrace to the film, to Walt, and to Disney's legacy.
I don't see why the Witch's face should be saved for the movie. It was shown on the vhs covers, and it's not like it's going to spoil the movie for us, we know she's going to transform and we know what she looks like in the disguise........

Undeniable that it deserves a really good cover art just because it's "the most important" film? I disagree. Snow White may have helped move the company forward and earn them the money to continue to bigger things but so have other films, perhaps Cinderella being a notable one. I don't really think any one DAC is more important than the others. To say the dvd cover needs to be good because of this is rather silly in all honesty. I find it also equally silly to say it's most deserving of good treatment. Snow White shouldn't be held as I said on my last post, on a pedastel above others and labeled as "Most Important", all the DAC's deserve good treament equally.

I don't think Snow White should have a crappy cover. But I do think that complaining about the cover, or nitpicking tiny details about the cover is going a bit far. Especially when you give reasons like "It's the most important film" etc. While I love the DAC's and love the art in them, I don't care about needing the covers to be "perfect" or amazing because the covers don't reflect the art in the movies.

Disgrace to the film, Walt and Disney's Legacy? That's stretching it a bit far isn't it? Oh noes Snow White has poor cover art that must mean the movie is badly animated and is a disgrace to Disney's legacy!!! That's what your making it sound like frankly.

It's not a disgrace to the film or company OR Walt if it has poor cover art. There were other DAC's during Walt's era I'm sure with poor cover art, so by your logic Walt has already been disgraced, and the legacy of the company so one more "disgrace" won't do any harm. Again, it sounds like your putting Snow White on this pedastel that it shouldn't be on for the reason(s) your putting it on it. If you genuinely put the movie on that pedastel because of your love for it that's fine, but putting it there and saying it's the Most Important of them all and therefore needs to be/should be on that pedastel is a bit ridiculous.

I really don't get this constant debate over the cover of the film. Granted it's a terrible layout, but I'm happy to see the Witch and Prince represented on the cover. Although frankly I could care less about how pretty/ ugly the cover is, as long as I can have the film with good bonus features.

Let's just put it this way, when you've been waiting 8 years for a film to be re-released you'd expect it to be worth the wait and that includes the total package; good features, picture & sound quality and of course a decent cover to finish it off. You might not be too bothered about the cover and to many it may seem like a trivial thing but to me it feels really disheartening when you've waited so patiently only for Disney to put out what I can only describe as an abysmal cover, it's unfair to fans as far as I'm concerned.

This may have been mentioned already, but I didn't really feel like backtracking thru the endless pages of cover discussion.

But several websites are reporting this now as the "Diamond Edition"
Possible they decided to switch it ?

I'd love to see the contents of the book that comes with the Collector's Book set : http://www.amazon.com/White-Seven-Dwarf ... 367&sr=8-4 , that's my favourite Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs Cover Art thus far , it uses the original image of Snow White about to bite the Magic Wishing Apple as the Wicked Queen tells Snow White from the original 2001 Platinum Edition DVD !

Disney's changed the Blu-ray cover art again, but it still looks awful.

Looks like the image of the Queen on top is improved(you can actually see all her fingers), but the rest is still horrible.

Edit: Also, I find it odd that the page uses all the user reviews for the old DVD when that's only even linked.

Amazon is terrible for reviews - they use all the reviews for a certain book, music, film, or TV show - despite which version of the release it is - like VHS, Cassette, LaserDisc, DVD, Blu-ray, CD.

It sucks trying to find the actual reviews for the version you're considering buying.

WOW the cover looks much better. Its still not great but its better. All of the characters have been fixed (just look at doc and grumpy). With a few more tweeks and if snow white/hag are lenticular this could trun into a cover I actually like. :)

Much better Cover Art but it still needs a few tweaks !!

Post by Deco King »

I like it much better than the earlier version , but it just shows they must be "listening" to the fans comments because there have been about five versions so far and after all it is six months off , they will be producing millions of copies after all the initial 2001 Platinum Edition DVD of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs was the best selling DVD at that particular time/year!

I Googled Diamond Edition and it appears that the highly anticipated Blu Ray of Snow White and The seven Dwarfs is to be produced under that working title , which makes great sense as they're pushing the twinkiling diamonds. ribies and other jewels in that fabulous trailer on Pinocchio Blu Ray!

Can somebody post a higher resolution version so it can be "blown up"/enlarged?

Am I the only one who thinks Snow White looks retarded in the new cover?
And the Queen is green. Maybe mexican flu, who knows.

The Witch is an improvement, but I still don't think all the dwarfs and the prince should look 'dreamy' at her in the mirror. Snow White is the main caracter and it doesn't look like it because she's on the bottom.

The Seven Dwarfs are now much better drawn. However the Wicked Queen's colour makes her look sick, poor love ,with Swine Flu? Snow White now looks retarded , and The Witch/Peddler Woman is either mixed race or has been crossed with the Beast from Beauty and The Beast look at the brown taloned hand!!

i agree the dwarves look amazing. snow white looks pathetic. the hag looks better but snow white should be in the middle... and the wicked queen looks... interesting... the prince looks a little better too.
