I love this cover much more than the one they used for the 2-Movie Collection. :D

That one does look great, it's one of the most beautiful slipcovers. The holographic effects are gorgeous.

Yeah, I love that cover, too, it's probably my favorite Fantasia cover.

Wow, most of those are really cool!

Atlantis:
1. Zavvi Steelbook - I think this was a poster? Anyway, it is the coolest looking one.
2. Special Collector's Edition (UK) -I love how it looks like Milo's journal.
3. Collector's Edition (France) -Very cool it just looks a little messier than my first pick.
4. 2 Disc Collector's Edition - Just looks so awesome!
5. Limited Edition (France) - I love the impressive shot, and with the "A" shapes around it it's even cooler.
6. DVD/VHS - Nice combination of cool and showing the characters.
7. Deluxe Edition (Germany) - Not quite sense-making but at least it looks cool.
8. Blu-ray - I don't like 2-Movie Collections
9. DVD + PC Game - It may have a PC game but the cover is cool.
10. Heroes Cover (UK)
11. Heroes Cover (France)
12. 2 Movie Collection (UK)

Whoo! Who knew there would be so many!

The fact that they put text DIRECTLY OVER Kida’s face on the US Blu-Ray is hysterically bad. Goes to show how little faith they have in US consumers and the lack of effort they put in.

I agree. As if they thought Milo's Return would make people buy this.

It's weird that the UK 2-Movie Collection doesn't mention "The Lost Empire" (or "Milo's Return" for that matter). It's jarring seeing just "Atlantis."

I totally agree about Kida being covered by the text- uncalled for! They should've just repeated the French Collector's Edition (& put the sequel title in that rectangle), or the Zavvi steelbook (& added the sequel title below...)

1. Zavvi steelbook
2. Collector's Edition (France)
3. Limited Edition (France)
4. Special Collector's Edition (UK) (I think the bubbles look better than the plainer next cover.)
5. Deluxe Edition (Germany)
6. 2-Disc Collector's Edition
7. DVD/VHS
8. DVD & PC Game
9. Blu-ray
10. 2-Movie Collection (UK)
11. Heroes (France) (The background is better than the next cover.)
12. Heroes (UK)

Usually I would prefer covers with characters on the cover to ones without, but this movie has some really, really neat covers that don't even include the characters.

1. Zaavi Steelbook ~ I love that they depicted the iconic scene from the film. I only wish Cookie and Mrs. Packard had been included in the lineup.
2. Collector's Edition (France)
3. Special Collector's Edition (UK)
4. Deluxe Edition (Germany)
5. 2-Disc Collector's Edition
6. Blu-ray ~ I still like the artwork despite the text over Kida, as nomad pointed out.
7. Limited Edition (France)
8. Heroes Cover (France)
9. DVD/VHS ~ I just don't like this for some reason. I think it's because you have the nice artwork of the submarine mixed with the substandard artwork of the characters, and then the city sort of randomly cut and pasted at the bottom... Not nice at all.
10. Heroes Cover (UK)
11. 2-Movie Collection (UK)
12. DVD + PC Game ~ Random choices of who was on there and who was left out. It's just really ugly to me.

Hey Everyone,

So... Atlantis.... sigh. I have seen this movie more than once, and I am sorry to say, I am not very fond of it. That said, the overall quality of the covers is really good (if somewhat prone to recycling artwork). Seems like Disney really got a grasp on doing good covers after 1998...

So here we go!

1) Zaavi steelbook: That one looks great. Beautiful rendering, interesting color choices, well placed title... I suspect a recycled poster, but it is great artwork and very intriguing. A lot of story elements there, without looking cluttered.

2) Dvd/vhs: Very nice composition.. well drawn characters, cool color scheme. Maybe Kida is a little off? The layout isn't realistic, but it's not trying to be. It works.

3) Blu ray: Ok ok... I know. They have writing over Kida's face. But still, a very cool image. Pretty sure it's recycled from the poster. See my comments about the zaavi cover.

4) Heroes cover France: Not great, but it's ok. I appreciate the inclusion of a faded background, it makes the cover far less bland. And Milo is very well drawn and rendered... even if recycled.

5) Limited Ed France: beautiful artwork. Not sure how many people will know the movie well enough to figure out this cover. But lovely art.

6) 2 disc collectors: I don't love this concept. Very well executed, great color choices and rendering... but can this movie really afford to be so minimalistic? Not in my opinion. I do love the water texture at the very top.

7) Special Collector UK: Like I said before, this movie can't afford to be so minimalistic. It's not well known enough. I see this cover on a shelf... I keep walking. I mean... well executed. Beautifully rendered. But overall, the concept doesnt work.

8 ) 2 movie collection UK: Recycled. Kinda bland. Pretty well drawn... but like I said, Kida's face seems off.

I know I haven't ranked ALL of them, but some of them just feel repetitive...

Sorry for waiting till the last minute to post my opinion of the Atlantis covers. I'll try to post it earlier next time. Here's my ranking:

1. Zavvi steelbook: Like everyone else, I think this one's the best. Yes, they used a theatrical poster for this cover. I especially like the style in which the characters are drawn and the different elements they've combined in the composition.

2. Collector's Edition (France): This one's almost as good as the former, but I agree with Marce82 that the title is very well placed in the Zavvi steelbook, and that's mainly why I prefer it over this one.

3. DVD/VHS: I quite like this one too. Yes, I think Kida is a little off, but the characters are well-drawn in general and I especially like the composition. It looks a bit like a cover for a live-action film, don't you think?

4. Special Collector's Edition (UK): I have this edition, as well as the VHS. The case is quite cool. Here's another picture of it:

Image

5. Limited Edition (France): This one's also recycled from a poster. It uses a beautiful shot from the film, which is appropriate given that the city of Atlantis is in the title. I'm not sure about the giant "A" in the background, though. On the one hand, it complements the composition; but on the other, it clashes a bit with the rest, in my opinion, being the only element that's different from the rest.

6. Deluxe Edition (Germany): As you can see in the picture of the UK Collector's Edition I posted above, that edition also has this cover in the inside. I agree with you, Marce82 that it's perhaps a bit too minimalistic for a film like this one, but at least it's classy.

7. 2-Disc Collector's Edition: It's nice, but in my opinion, the submarine is not iconic enough to represent the entire film.

8. Blu-ray: I haven't ranked this higher because I think nomad2010 is right that putting text over Kida's face is quite a big mistake.

9. DVD + PC Game: It's OK, but it looks more like a book cover than a DVD one.
Disney's Divinity wrote: 12. DVD + PC Game ~ Random choices of who was on there and who was left out.
Well, actually it's the same group of characters than in the DVD/VHS, and even the same poses, only that here the full bodies are featured. I don't know why they selected these characters and not others, I guess they probably thought these were the most popular ones.

10. Heroes Cover (France): I agree with the ones who said that the background makes it much more interesting than the UK version.

11. Heroes Cover DVD (UK)

12. 2-Movie Collection (UK)

It does and it reminds me that in the Beauty and the Beast commentary, T&W said they liked implementing live action methods in their films.

I think I saw Atlantis 2-3 times overall but that submarine felt really unnecessary and it kind of wasted time for nothing. It would have been okay if the film was 2 hour, but it was 95 minutes, time cannot be wasted. Treasure Planet is exactly the same length and it does a lot within its time frame.

Interesting. That's quite evident in The Hunchback of Notre Dame too (the film, not its covers).

By the way, here's the preliminary artwork for an unused Atlantis DVD cover by Michael Hobson:

Interesting. That's quite evident in The Hunchback of Notre Dame too (the film, not its covers).
They said it about the smash cut from Belle (Reprise) to Belle arriving at the castle. They also mentioned the crane shot of the ballroom sequence. They said these were methods that hadn't been done in animation very often (probably before Beauty and the Beast. I think it's harder or even impossible to do a crane shot in animation without using a computer. They used it in Hunchback when Quasimodo saves Esmeralda).

Lilo & Stitch

1. Special Edition (Brazil) - Cool concept and it looks so sophisticated.
2. DVD/VHS
3. Big Wave Edition DVD
4. Second Blu-ray
5. First Blu-ray
6. Japanese VHS
7. Collectible Tin
8. 2-Movie Collection (Germany)
9. Heroes Cover (France)
10. Heroes Cover
11. Collector's Edition (France) - Anyone else get a totally wrong for the movie Christmas vibe from this cover?
12. Villains Cover

I didn't feel the need to rank the others which are covers more about the two movies and I just don't think those covers are very good.

I love the original DVD cover because that's what I grew up with.

The Big Wave Edition was always a poor imitation. I didn't like how Stitch was on there twice, David featured instead of Nani, and how the top image of David and Stitch was their modern shaded clipart while the below image was heavily pixelated.

The Blu-Ray is fine. I like all the principal characters on it but it's not really noteworthy otherwise.

The Japanese VHS feels reminiscent of a classic Disney VHS cover.

Missed Atlantis so here's my quick take on it.

The regular DVD cover is just okay. I wasn't a fan of how Kida was put in her dress from the very end of the film and how all the other female characters from the expedition weren't included but the male ones were. Audrey at least should have been on there as well.

I love the 2-Disc Collector's Edition cover. Atlantis isn't a major favorite film of mine but I do have a soft spot for it and the submarine, at least to me, was always a very thrilling visual so it works as a cover.

The Blu-Ray is a mess with Kida covered up but at least Rourke, Helga, and Audrey are included this time around. The steelbook is a far better interpretation.

The UK DVD is so stunning with the water effects. Same with the Germany Deluxe edition.

The Limited Edition France DVD has one of my favorite visuals from the film.

And I love how the French Collector's DVD looks with all its packaging. I don't think the Deluxe US DVD had packaging nearly as interesting.
