Gotta keep hope alive for 2D though.

That's okay. I had the same reaction about Facilier's songs.DisneyJedi wrote:OMG!!! LOUIS GETS MORE SONGS!!!!!! (does a fanboy scream, calms down) Please excuse me. I am a HUGE fan of Louis thanks to Disney.

Am I the only one surprised by Naveen's complete absence? I mean, I know he only had one verse in LOUIS'S song, but he had a pretty good voice, and considering that Naveen is a happy go lucky, bright and fun loving guy you would think he would sing more.
Maybe he plays his ukulele during the songs...
And yes, more Louis songs is a plus on my book.

In the previous page, I speculated that the song makers probably didn't give Naveen a song because it'd sound like another "Prince Ali".

That was the first thing that went through my head. An entire album with new songs and not a single track that has Naveen at all. Annoying Disney.pap64 wrote:Am I the only one surprised by Naveen's complete absence? Quite regularly though, Amazon only lists one artist on musical and soundtrack listings. So Naveen may have some parts on some songs. I can't imagine that all 13 tracks are performed by 1 character each. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just don't get it. I mean, Bruno Campos has a beautiful voice! Why oh why do they under-use him so greviously!?
But I must say.... I am very pleased that Facilier gets 3, count 'em, 3 more songs!

It seems that Naveen has fallen victim for the Disney Prince curse once
more, which is sad because he gets more screen time than any of the princes save for Aladdin.
The Prince from Snow White only had a verse in the film's opening song.
Prince Charming just had a few fading lyrics in Cinderella's "This is Love".
Philip gets one verse for himself in Sleeping Beauty (but MAN that guy could sing!).
Prince Eric gets no songs...
The Beast only has a couple of verses in "Something There", but the song is dominated by Belle.
Aladdin breaks the mold by having three songs, and the princess only sings one half of the song ("A Whole New World").
What's odd is that Naveen plays a crucial role in the movie's story. In the other princess films, the princes mainly served as inspirations for their leading ladies, except for Philip and Aladdin of course. Naveen is different in that he is a prince and is quite charming but he is flawed. All he wants is money and sees love as something enjoyable but not important. The film grabs him by the hand and forces him to get cursed, meet Tiana and go on a Bayou journey so that he can see the error of his way and change for the better.
So, considering how much attention they gave Naveen as a Disney Prince its very odd that he doesn't even get a song.

Youre right it is a lil dissappointing considering they couldve given him a musical number with him on the ukelele.JDCB1986 wrote:Am I the only one surprised by Naveen's complete absence? But I am gonna assume that they couldnt get Brunos Campos to come in and record the album.

I previously posted about the reworked Tiana show at DL, but here is info about her joining other princesses in Fantasy Faire:

That's what I was thinking, too.

Other movies had these types of CDs, and I don't have any, so I'll ask the question: Were these songs all written after the fact, just to get more money, or were any of them at one point supposed to be in the movie? I understand "In Harmony" being on the Ariel & Friends CD (or whatever it's called), since that song is from the TV show, but I don't get what these songs are for...Is it kind of like the Princess line of DVDs, where they use limited animation to tell new stories, and this is just the CD version of that, sort of?BwayJ wrote:1. And to add to blackcauldron's question, did Randy Newman, Ron Clements and John Musker have any involvement with these songs?blackcauldron85 wrote: Other movies had these types of CDs, and I don't have any, so I'll ask the question: Were these songs all written after the fact, just to get more money, or were any of them at one point supposed to be in the movie? I guess it depends on the particular album. I can tell you about the one area I actually have a little knowledge over, which is The Little Mermaid. I recall two different albums based specifically on TLM back in the day (aside from the original soundtrack), one that was full of original songs that told a story of Ariel finding a message in a bottle, and one that was the soundtrack for the TV series. Plus there was the later album you mentioned that contained a handful of songs from the above albums but also includes tracks I'm unfamiliar with.blackcauldron85 wrote:Other movies had these types of CDs, and I don't have any, so I'll ask the question: Were these songs all written after the fact, just to get more money, or were any of them at one point supposed to be in the movie? A breakdown . . .
The Little Mermaid Original Soundtrack (everyone knows this one, lol): http://www.amazon.com/Little-Mermaid-Al ... 00008EZZX/
Songs From the Sea (original songs and story, nothing to do with the actual film): http://www.amazon.com/Little-Mermaid-So ... 00008F00P/
Splash Hits (soundtrack for the TV series): http://www.amazon.com/Splash-Hits/dp/B0002IOYWK/
The Little Mermaid and Friends (contains music from all three above albums and then some): http://www.amazon.com/Little-Mermaid-Fr ... 000FVBL3E/
Oh, and to be as thorough as I can, volume two of Disney's Princess Collection contains one of the tracks from Songs From the Sea: http://www.amazon.com/Disneys-Princess- ... 000006NZ1/
I'm guessing this will be new music without their involvement in the same way that Songs Form the Sea was, but there's no way of knowing until they release more information. I'm looking forward to checking out the new music regardless.estefan wrote:And to add to blackcauldron's question, did Randy Newman, Ron Clements and John Musker have any involvement with these songs?

Thanks, EW! I wonder what the reasoning behind this was. And, last year I read a book called..."Mouse Tracks", I think, and it was about Disneyland Records. I think maybe back in the day they did things like this, too (but my memory is awful, so I could be wrong). Wait, yes, with The Jungle Book, right? So I guess the thought is that, "Hey, the first soundtrack sold well and kids want more with the characters, let's write more songs!"?enigmawing wrote: Songs From the Sea (original songs and story, nothing to do with the actual film): http://www.amazon.com/Little-Mermaid-So ... 00008F00P/

Songs From the Sea is a really cute album by the way (gotta love how sweet and innocent Jodi Benson sounds in it), but has long been out of print and is even difficult to find as a download. If anyone would like to hear it, let me know in a PM.

I'm not sure if you meant "Beast and Aladdin," but I think Phillip was as much an inspiration to Aurora as the Prince was to Snow White.pap64 wrote:

I'm not really that suprised Naveen is neglected, as the movie always seemed to be more about Tiana than it is Naveen. It's too bad though. Even though I'm not crazy about Naveen, he had a pretty likable singing voice. (I feel the same way about Louis)
I do plan to get this, just because the movie has a lot of good voices. I'm with Sky Syndrome in looking forward to Keith David/Dr. Facilier's songs most of all. And Jennifer Lewis/Mama Odie!

Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ ~ "The Fate of Ophelia"
Taylor Swift ~ "Eldest Daughter"
Taylor Swift ~ "CANCELLED!"
