Gracias for answering for me, bruno. I figured that writing SMAS would be better (and quicker) than writing Sing Me a Story with Belle every time.

anyone think there would be a tiny chance an ipod version would be released of this movie some day? I'm planning to buy the Blu Ray (Belle is my FAVORITE princess, winning slightly over Aurora) and I would love to watch this on my ipod once in awhile. I do have a portable dvd player....but sometimes that may not be practical to take somewhere.

Hey, guys... I just watched the making of BATB and was wondering. I noticed the colors were noticeably darker (more than the 1992 VHS) and it got me thinking, why do some "making-of's" present different colors?

Does this mean BATB had the same colors as the making-of when it was in theatres? And were the colors changed a bit when transferred to video?

Not to be a jerk or anything, but are you serious? have you read any BatB topic ever made on this forum?

the colors used in the "making of..." could probably be from unrestored stock footage from the original release. The original theatrical release had a darker tone than the 2002 DVD release, and judging color tone from any VHS is kinda hard because VHS's deteriorate with each viewing.

I'm really hoping this doesn't spark another color debate...

That's why I specified that it's a making of from when the movie was released, it didn't even need to be restored yet.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

It's a CAPS film, so nothin needs to be restored at all. But they'e claiming a restoration to justify the changed colors.

Sometimes the editor/producer/whathaveyou of the making-of documentary used clips from the movie before it was restored, and it simply wasn't replaced later on. Due to the noticeable color changes, it's easy to see in Beauty and the Beast and in Cinderella. I think it was after Cinderella that they made sure the clips in the documentaries matched the look in the actual film.

They have updated the official Diamond Edition website:

Disney wrote:Look for new releases in this prestigious collection:

Bambi — Spring 2011
The Lion King — Fall 2011
New comparisons are courtesy of the characters section:

I never noticed this before but Le Fou's black hair and Maurice's black eyebrows take on the color of their clothing in the Platinum Edition (e.g. brown hair and yellowish-brown eyebrows). Anyways, I just love the bright blue sky and more prominent shading on the top comparison with Gaston and the darker clothing/hair on Le Fou on the bottom comparison.

Still don't know what will be on the Diamond Edition discs. Both Beast's and Cogsworth's character profiles use their platinum colors.

Me too!

That is exactly the same blue sky and shading I remember from the cinema back in the day, all the cinema screenshot cards I have, the making of books, the laserdisc version, the panini pictures, the original film screenshots, the trailers and the promotional material.

So I'm happy if the diamond edition will look like this.

Also, I've checked the same material on the "Be our guest shot" with the colored light beams. And it turns out they were black in the middle in the original version as well. So it's a real mystery how they managed to color them all in in the PE? I mean, that takes a lot of work to do.

So then I guess it's official? When Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are released, they will not be apart of the Diamond line. And if* Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 are released on BD the former will be the first Walt classic released on BD that isn't a Diamond.

And I could not care less about the colors. That's not a slight to those who are passionate about them, I just like both.

*I say "if" because of one word- Dumbo.

http://www.bbfc.co.uk/AVV268556

That mystery 18 minutes of bonus material on Disc 1, that was posted back in April, has been updated.

Whoaaaaa. BBFC updated their entire layout.

I had a feeling the unnamed Disc 1 feature was the Purdum Reel, so it's no surprise there. A bit surprised that it's Pete Schneider giving the intro and not Don Hahn.

I don't want to bring back the colors discussion, but I found this making of randomically on Google Videos. I don't know if it's been posted here already, but man! You gotta take a look at those colors!

It's from 1991, and has probably been transferred from a VHS source, but anyways... The movie extracts they used are way more beautiful than the PE looks in general.

Here it is:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 8768723066#

I do hope the DE to look something like this. Imagine all that darkness and vividness altogether in HD! *___*

Why don't they give us any kind of official video preview for us to check the restoration, colors, HD transfer etc? It's about time! A 5-sec video would already satisfy my eagerness. Whoa!
Keep moving forward!

Yep, that's the making-of I was referring to earlier. I like the tone but it obviously needs to be "brightened up" just a bit 'cause a lot of fine detail is lost in the dark colors.

I know. When I was searching, I noticed it looked sleeker and the search engine was a lot nicer to use too. I like the changes.

I just recently started "collecting," so forgive me if this has already been discussed, but will Disney offer a coupon upon the release of BATB for those who are upgrading, such as how they just sent out a $10 off James and the Giant Peach for owners of the DVD or VHS?

Most Likely they will....and you might not even need he UPC of the previous DVD, they did it last year for Snow White, this year for Princess and the Frog so I'd say there will for sure most likely be a $10 coupon closer to october or late september

any idea which B&TB song will be ruined by a "Disney Channel star" remake? And if the Celine Dion Music video will still be a special feature?
I was planning to buy this, but if they ruin ANY of the beautiful songs by having the JONAS losers sing it, I will NOT buy it.

Yes, the Celine Dion music video will be in this edition, too.

And the new music video will be "Beauty and the Beast" performed by Jordin Sparks. (I think she can do it well)
