So there will be a dvd+book set? Cool...DO you think it will be worth double dipping?
Anyway, I will be buying the SE's of the sequels, but if they release a trilogy-set, I think I will be buying that one instead.
I just hope that the versions Germany is getting are the same ones that will be released here in The Netherlands.

I wouldn't double dip on the sequels if nothing is add or if only a corny game is added! Something like a deleted scene, making of or extended scenes will only make me re-purchase them.bruno_wbt wrote:In Germany there will be a DVD Collector’s Edition and the special edition of the sequels in November!

Enchanted Christmas already has a rather solid making-of featurette, IIRC. I've been wanting to pick up the OOP SE for years but will probably just wait for the new release, since I can "enjoy" the likely-to-be-worse-than-I-remember-it "Sing Me A Story" bonus episodes.
But if they drop the making-of feature (or its branching options) for those SSAS episodes, then I'll hunt down the old edition.

That doesn't look like a book set, it looks like the cardboard box that will hold the trilogy set.supertalies wrote:So there will be a dvd+book set? Cool...DO you think it will be worth double dipping?

Meh. Neither sequel was good enough to merit a re-buy ever (well, none of the sequels were - but the BatB ones, especially! I consider them the worst of all the derivative works.)
I'll just be glad to have BatB on DVD finally. Currently I just have a LaserDisc rip where I have to switch DVDs half-way through.
It's the last 'canon' classic I don't own in some official release capacity.

The top is the 2010 DE, the bottom is the 2002 PE.Khonnor wrote:Just to be sure,,,cuz it's confusing as hell..
As i don't own the Platinum Edition (yet, it's on its way to me as we speak),
are the top pictures from the PE or the upcoming DE?
The pictures on the other page in this thread, the red ones and light ones, which ones from PE and which from DE?

To further clarify what Escapay said, the top is from the image gallery on the official Diamond Edition website, which is why they have the arrows on them (so there is NO guarantee that these are the colors that will be featured on the Diamond Edition discs). From what I can tell, they aren't the same colors used on the VHS or LaserDisc (e.g. the image with Mrs. Potts and Chip, the table is closer to the bottom image but the characters are closer to the top), but those can't be taken as the original theatrical colors either. Even though all the top images seem to be overly brightened, we can certainly agree they're more pleasing natural colors and are most likely better representations of the original theatrical colors.Khonnor wrote:Thanks for clearin that up for me.
That reddish look is horrible!
Now the only reason I posted these comparisons with images from an image gallery, even though they aren't official screen captures, was this. The official Dumbo Blu-ray website posted images in their image gallery that ended up being the actual restored picture featured on the Dumbo discs. So I only posted them because they could potentially be from the upcoming Diamond Edition release. I posted the images from the "Human Again" sequence to show that even the brand new animation for the movie didn't receive the red hue until later.
Also, while I was clear in my original post as to where I was getting the images, I purposely didn't label the images either way. I wanted people to come to their own conclusions as to which they prefer or feel is more accurate to the original theatrical presentation (without swaying any views too much). It seemed pretty obvious to most people which was the Platinum (provided they own or have seen it) and which looked more natural.

To be sure (the BBFC info not withstanding). is there any proof that SMAS episodes will be included on the B&TB DVDs coming out this year?Escapay wrote:Enchanted Christmas already has a rather solid making-of featurette, IIRC. There's not even any proof that the sequels are getting re-released at all yet either.
But I trust BBFC more than WDHE most of the time anyway.

I was wondering about the SMAS episodes because of two factors:Escapay wrote:There's not even any proof that the sequels are getting re-released at all yet either.

1.)My mother and I used to watch SMAS every week-got up at 6:00 in the morning on Saturday mornings and watched it with her.
2.)SMAS was the first time I had ever seen my favorite Disney Channel actress of all time-Kirsten Storms. I have followed Ms. Storms' career ever since SMAS. Hopefully (at least) one SMAS episode included on any of the three films (if SEs are released for Enchanted Christmas or Belle's Magical World) will have her.
And even if they don't have Kirsten in them, it'll be great to see SMAS again-it'll even make me double-dip on the B&TB re-release (I still have my copy of the 2002 PE)!
