Also the Sneezy Inspired teen reminds me SO MUCH of Ian from Pixars Onward. Almost identical...

Mind blowing. Not to get embroiled in this whole race thing, but since when are Spaniards not white?

I'm from a Mediterranean country, like Spain. We're white here. Maybe not as white as Sweden or Finland, but Caucasian nevertheless. I believe the same applies for other southern European countries including Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Unless I am mistaken even northern African countries like Libya or Tunisia are technically white. Their skintone may be a bit darker than what you'll find in Southern Europe, but they're also Caucasoids.

I dunno ... :milkbuds:

Race is a social construct, nobody has a real definition of race because there's not one

Race is phenotype, and what phenotype is white or not is decided by the observer (the person that sees you) and not the observed person (you) so you can't really call yourself white, someone has to say you are (and it's individual so you can be white to one and POC to another)

That's why many people get called different nationalities/ethnicities while travelling and are racialized or not in certain regions of the world

Mediterraneans (as a whole) are sometimes racialized and some not

Look at Rachel Zegler, a USA girl of half Polish ancestry and half colombian ancestry, with her colombian side being FULLY iberian (just in case someone thinks colombian is a race) but people in this forum calls her brown, when she's racially and by phenotype mediterranean/iberian

Because race is a social construct, not something with a correct answer

Considering press like Tessa Smith at Mama’s Geeky is visiting Walt Disney Animation Studios right now as we speak to get more details on Once Upon a Studio and Disney’s Wish (https://instagram.com/stories/mamasgeek ... BiNWFlZA==), it looks like the trailer will indeed be coming next week.

Is it significant that Queen Amaya has a doll? I’m just surprised by that, but I don’t have an encyclopedic knowledge of Disney dolls. But the only other times I can think of when a secondary, older female character was turned into a doll, they are usually villains, right? Maybe it’s just because her costume is more princess-y than Asha’s?

I will definitely be buying a plush of the star character.

I think it's just because Queen Amaya has a better design than Asha (unless she gets a similar dress at the end of the movie when she becomes a princess)

And male dolls (Magnífico) don't sell well, so I guess it's just that

I mean, I am obsessed with Queen Amaya’s costume. I am more inclined to buy her doll than Asha’s. So maybe it is just an aesthetics thing…

He deleted the tweet, what did he explicitly said? That the embargo ends next Wednesday or that the trailer comes out next Wednesday

Because the embargo can end and the trailer come out another day

But makes sense for the embargo and trailer to come out the same day

I'm tired of Disney showing 10/20/30 minutes to press and nothing to us

The tweet said the trailer was coming on Wednesday. I think they might change the date now.

Embargo is usually lifted the same week the movie premieres.

I know Amaya is euskera, but in my opinion they copied that name from Carmen Amaya, she constantly gets viral tweets in English every 4 or 5 months, so it's not impossible that Fawn the directors knows her existence

Also as a curiosity Viola from One Piece is based in Lola Flores and Carmen Amaya

Someone that went to the press thing yesterday said on Twitter that the producers said Rosas was a mix of the whole mediterranean, that doesn't make any sense when the king and Queen are very obviously spanish, Asha grandparent has a spanish sephardic name, half of the Teens have spanish sounding names and the island is set close to the iberian peninsula (and the name is Rosas in spanish) and the architecture is mozarabe (also Jennifer Lee in a Barcelona event said the kingdom takes inspiration from many mosques in Spain)

What I'm saying is that they should simply say Spain, its not that difficult to say when it's pretty obvious

They’re probably keeping the location deliberately vague so as to avoid having to explain why there are so many non-Spanish characters in a film set in España , except for, as you say, el Rey y la Reina.

In a fictional place such as Rosas more “diversity” boxes can be checked.☑️

But Asha is very explicitly spanish, she's from the al andalus period, her name is Wish in Arabic and her mom name is also Arabic

Asha (in spanish Axa) is one of the little moorish girls from Jaén, a popular poetry from Federico García Lorca.

Half of the Teens have spanish names and the others have arabic names, the grandpa has a Spanish sephardic name

Saying the movie is not spanish is racism and antiblackness, ignoring black spanish history is ignoring spanish history
