Do you really think "Rapunzel" is such an elegant title? As far as I'm concerned, the title was changed before the movie was released, and there are often changes late in the production. Should I be bothered with everything that's altered during the movie process? You get a wonderful Disney musical that's also a box office success, and you're still complaining about the title?Disney's Divinity wrote:Did the title ever stop sucking?KubrickFan wrote:And since Tangled is it's original title, why would anyone have it changed? Are some still not over this?Sure, you can "get used to it," but it doesn't mean the title's better.

That must be based on the scene where Flynn Rider convinces Rapunzel to return to her tower for her mother and daughter relationship until she says this.Semaj wrote:Another cute drawing from DeviantArt.![]()
Rapunzel: No! I am seeing those lanterns!
Flynn Rider: Oh come on! What does it going to take to get my satchel back?
By the way, did not notice Rapunzel stepping on Flynn Rider's boot.
It's the mere fact that Rapunzel is the tale's original title. A lot of people will be bitter about the title change, including many of the artists that worked on it, for decades to come. Just as they still are with "Basil of Baker Street".KubrickFan wrote:Do you really think "Rapunzel" is such an elegant title? Nobody’s asking you to be bothered by it. Complaining about the complainers is just as old.KubrickFan wrote: Do you really think "Rapunzel" is such an elegant title? Listening to most often lately:
Taylor Swift ~ "Elizabeth Taylor"
Katy Perry ~ "bandaid"
Meghan Trainor ~ "Still Don't Care"

So what? There were many other changes compared to the fairy tale. In fact, none of the Disney movies based on fairy tales follow the original completely. All of that is fine, but god forbid when somebody changes the title for whatever reason. So "A Boy's Life" works better than E.T. The extra-terrestrial"? "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" is also better than simply "The Shawshank Redemption"? Please. And what if they kept the title, but made it into the Shrek ripoff it was supposed to be? Would that have been alright?SWillie! wrote: It's the mere fact that Rapunzel is the tale's original title. Jeez dude. You're really grumpy lately it seems. This has been discussed until all our ears are bleeding. I'm not going to discuss it further.KubrickFan wrote:So what? Then why did you comment in the first place? If you don't want to discuss it any further, then don't start discussing it. And if I come off as grumpy (which I'm not, but thanks anyway) could it be because the stupid discussion about the title has been going on for far too long? The name of the movie in English-speaking countries is Tangled, and there's nothing to change that.SWillie! wrote: Jeez dude. You're really grumpy lately it seems. Well, you can recongize what The Princess and the Frog is and what it's about. With Tangled, you don't recongize what's the story about.Sky Syndrome wrote:The original title for The Princess and the Frog was The Frog Princess. And so was the version of The Frog Prince story with the heroine becoming a frog used for the movie. I don't recall so much flak for the title The Princess and the Frog as the title Tangled gets.

I agree with KubrickFan. I would much rather discuss what a great movie Rapunzel is (yes, that's what it's called in The Netherlands) than having the same old discussion about the title. I also think that people who go through all the trouble to make their own version of the movie just to have it say 'Rapunzel' at the beginning need to download a life. And if that makes me look "grumpy", so be it.

I would can the title to "The Girl with the Golden Hair."
Then I'd edit her outfit into a tuxedo suit to go with the title.

Are we still fighting over the titles. Yes, I wish it was "Rapunzel," by at this point, time to move on. Instead, has anyone seen this? If not, it's worth it and I want to know why it wasn't on the Blu Ray!

Also interesting is that, when you switch the languages while playing the movie on Blu-ray, the on screen text switches too immediately. I didn't know that was an option. Very interesting.
