I adore the music in Pocahontas. Savages, Colors of the Wind, Steady as the Beating Drum, If I Never Knew You, Listen with Your Heart, ect. They're all marvelous. Except Dig, Dig, Dig. It's simply corny but still likeable. :P

Spoiler: I know it played when Quasi was mourning Esmerelda's 'death' after he saved her from the burning post. I'm not sure where else.

It does... it's sort of Quasi and Esmeralda's theme. But that song in and of itself wasn't as strong as "God Help the Outcasts," which replaced it and left it sort of redundant. The thing with "If I Never Knew You" was that it wasn't replaced with anything, and it really did leave an emotional hole in the story.
I wholeheartedly agree.

What about the Shooting Star song from Hercules, was it supposed to be in the film and was replaced by Go the Distance?
Yep you're right. A pop version of Shooting Star was made for the European versions of the movie for the credits, and it was performed by Boyzone.
Disney is awesome, and was the biggest part of my childhood.

Well, speaking of how much you love Pocahontas... Does anybody want a copy of the Soundtrack?

I need to get rid of the one I got off eBay recently because... umm... "The races are diverse" :p.

I've always wondered about that, too, since "Shooting Star" is played in the score in "Hercules", especially the sequence where baby Herc and Pegasus are sleeping.

I've always liked "God Help the Outcasts" better than "Someday". It's ironic that the former song was the first one written for Esmeralda, then got replaced by "Someday" and then switched over to "God Help the Outcasts" again.

Another deleted "Pocahontas"-song I like is "In The Middle Of The River". A cute and catchy song.

It also played when she saved him from the wheel that he was strapped to, and I'm pretty sure that there was at least one other place. And is it really still a spoiler if the movie came out 13 years ago?

Pocahontas is one of two reasons I like having my hair down the small of my back or my bum. Ariel is the other reason.

I did that on the off chance someone reads this thread whom hasn't seen the movie. Why didn't you simply color it black when you quoted it if you think it doesn't count as a spoiler after a decade?

At some point, I'm going to sit down and watch THoND and take note whenever Someday is heard. Another time it could have played was when Esmerelda gave Quasi a palm reading.

I really need to see the movie again, too. It's been too long, and this is the perfect excuse. :)

Huh. Good point.... I just figured that maybe you had a reason for concealing it, so I didn't want to step on any toes there...
Sorry, I just thought it was funny, because when we discuss Disney movies, there's usually a period of time when it's OK to say everything that happened. People are already discussing "Up" and its ending it black, but not TPatF, yet. I just follow other people's leads with that, myself.

rotfl

Those are great! I was thinking of posting something like that, but couldn't think of one that would be funny enough... My best ones involved the death of Bambi's mom though.

And, if you haven't seen Bambi yet..... sorry I spoiled it.

In Pocahontas, the Native Americans and the Englishmen have.... a war! John Smith took the bullet for Powhatan! Pocahontas goes to the England with John Smith and he changes his last name to Rolfe and they marry. The last sentence is true or false but the other sentences are true. :P

I'd like to ask an OCD question.

Is the theatrical trailer from the Gold Collection Pocahontas carried over to the 10th Anniversary version?

I was scouring reviews but none mention the year or what trailer it is, just that it's there.

The UD review only refers to the music videos, so is the trailer from the first release the same as the one in the Anniversary version?

I guess I never really payed attention to "If I Never Knew You" before, but yesterday I was looking at the lyrics at the song and it just struck me by how beautiful they are... Definitely one of Disney's best ballads. I'm going to have to watch Pocahontas again soon.
