Yes, I asked a question. I'd love to know what he sees in that movie that I don't. I never put him down for loving it.

Ok Alan so you like Beh hur more than Titanic. Hate to tell you about alot more people like Titanic than Benhur. I am sure you know this but Titanic is still the #1 grossing movie all time ($600,788,188). So there are going to be a hell of lot more people that are going to talk about Titanic. Glad you have a movie you really like, but stop trying to shove it down peoples throat!

along with Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS 6.1 ES tracks.
This helps ease the pain.

Yupp, what a relief. As far as I can tell, all we're missing with the absence of the 4th Disc is the promotional stuff. Nothing major, but fans would be disappointed to see the theatrical trailer missing. But DTS-ES is all I ever wanted for this relase and I'm happy they're including it. Time to buy bigger Polk Surround speakers and THX Certified monster cables and crank this baby up on October 25th.

Dude you don't quit with this thing.

Titanic 96,312 votes
Ben Hur 22,634 votes

It is alot easier to get a higher rating when only a much smaller amount of people vote.

Listen I am glad you really like Ben Hur more than Titanic. But you need to learn that not everybody is going to have the same taste in movies as you. I love so many other movies that I know alot of people would say why. That is the way things work. You just need to learn that.

I love the menus - simple but elegant (particularly the set up option). But Paramount is certainly going overboard with how many audio tracks they're cramming on two discs - Dolby Digital 5.1 EX, DTS 6.1 ES and Dolby Digital 2.0 tracks, French and Spanish 2.0 dubs, and 3 commentaries. This is 1 track more than what the LoTR EE discs had. :o

With the movie spread over 2 discs, this won't ruin the picture quality. Hopefully. And Paramount better not slap on forced previews on this set.

I hope they don't have previews either. I liked DVD's when they first came out, hardly any had previews at the begining, now more and more do. With these collector's sets they are like timeless treasures but it sucks when you pop it in and you get a trailer pop up that says something like coming summer 2003, Gigli, the movie event of the year! :x

That is funnier than the Bridge Over The River Kwai DVD that two trailers with the same tagline:

"The Biggest Spectacle The Screen Has Ever Seen"

(The trailers were for Bridge and The Guns Of Navore)

Just a thought you guys...

Since BestBuy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, lots of stores offer a bonus CD or DVD with new releases...do you think there's a chance they'll offer the European 4th Disc as a Bonus disc when Titanic gets released? If so, it'll save me the expenses of buying an R2 set and a region-free player!

Well Best Buy is not going to have any bonus disc. This is confirmed.

Well, this is pretty sad for me.

I just recently pre-ordered my copy of the SE DVD set for the Titanic film, when I finally discovered they were selling the ''ultimate'' edition from Fox. Yeah, being in the state of shock, I *accidently* clicked the ''checkout'' button and now the order is on its way. Seriously, why did the companies not release one of the three editions? The ''deluxe'' version would've been enough, but did they really need three? Oh well, I suppose it's not a big deal since all the 4th disc has is just three spoofs, 15 trailers/TV spots (why the USA DVD has none is beyond me) and a still gallery (which I've read is also included in the US verison).

The cover art is.....well.....I don't know.....But with the history behind the Titanic disaster, it seems rather disrespectful to put two fictional characters before it and by placing James Cameron into it, I easily got the impression he was saying ''I'm bigger then the ship itself!'' or at least interputed that way. For those who plan to buy it or already have, which edition did you buy it in? 2-disc, 3-disc or 4-disc and are you looking foward to seeing the film in HQ (High quality)?

The 2-disc is simply the movie on 2-disc, with branching behind-the-scenes features that you access whilst playing the movie. The 3-disc is simply the 2-disc with an extra disc devoted to deleted scenes, making-of features, etc. The 4-disc is the 3-disc with the 4th disc being all the good stuff, trailers, tv spots, spoofs, still galleries, and the HBO First Look featurette. Since Paramount has the distribution rights for R1 (North America), the cheap bastards decided that they'll release 20th Century Fox's film only as the 2 and 3-disc version, while 20th Century Fox (who did the bulk of producing this film) will release the film to all the other regions with the 4-disc edition.

I'll probably get the 3-disc for now, and pray that one of the big stores (Best Buy, Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.) decides to throw in the 4th disc as an extra bonus disc, the way they do with lots of other movies. Though this may yet be reason enough for me to get a multi-region player and import from R2...

Why Paramount does not include trailer/TV Spots on the R1 set is beyond me, let alone a still gallery. Oh well, not really a big deal anymore so I don't care any more, but still, it's rather annoying. I'm looking foward to seeing the film in very high quality too. I loved the film as child back in 1997 simply because my only reason seeing it was for the spectacle (i.e. the ship itself and the sinking) and to see ''a ship sink''. I admit though, over the years, I began to dislike this film somewhat and when I'm watching it over sometimes, I usually skip any scene with Jack and Rose. We all know how MUCH they appear together in the film.

Dialogue, screenplay, script and other various things could've been improved vastly and to be honest, had the film not use the Titanic storyline OR put all that money and effort into making a replica (as well as the sets) of the ship, I'd probably hate the film was well and conider to be a big POS.

Actually it would be rude to compare Ben Hur to Titanic box office wise, unless you include inflation, in which Titanic would not be number one. Gone with the Wind would be number one.

1 Gone with the Wind $1,293,085,600
2 Star Wars $1,139,965,400
3 The Sound of Music $911,458,400 $
4 E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial $907,867,700
5 The Ten Commandments $838,400,000
6 Titanic $821,413,700
7 Jaws $819,704,400
8 Doctor Zhivago $794,466,900
9 The Exorcist $707,639,500
10 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs $697,600,000
11 101 Dalmatians . $639,470,400
12 The Empire Strikes Back $628,356,100
13 Ben-Hur $627,200,000
14 Return of the Jedi $601,980,200
15 The Sting $570,514,300
Best Movies of 2009:
1. Moon
2. Inglorious Basterds
3. The Hurt Locker
4. Coraline
5. Ponyo

I feel so bad for my mother, she just bought the 90's DVD of Titanic, not even a week ago. She didn't know this was going to be a multi-disc set.
