Disney Duster wrote:Gargoyle Goddess (did you see my comments on your previous pictures?), I like your first Snow White picture very much (what is Snow White lying on? And is that sand around her the apple's lying in?). It's so beautiful and I feel the dead and depressed mood of the piece. However, you didn't do as good a job with the second Snow White picture, drawing and mood and all. What's up with that? You didn't feel as inspired because it was a follow-up piece?
Yes~ the comments about Prince Adam looking French and anatomical, and then Al and Jas looking more middle eastern than the movie version. ^_^

Snow is lying on ::goes to look at the image herself:: a wooden chair/bench thing. I didn't draw/describe it a lot in the image, and the colors blend in with the dark curtains. The apple is lying on a plain ground, I used the same colors from the apple and Snow White to create the ground under the apple. From all the coloring I did there are dark flecks of indigo colored pencil on the original when I scanned it in, and it certainly is creating the illusion of speckled sand.

The 2nd one definitely did not live up to my expectations and the vision I had in my head. Once I got to the point where I realized it wasn't going to have the magic of the first one, I was losing interest in the project and decided I NEEDED to finish the project and move on~ so yeah, part of the reason was I fizzled out on passion for it after a time period. So, it does lack the impact the original piece has. It still tells the message I want people to think about, but it would be a redo~ if I were to ever go back and redo it.

Thank you :-)

UmbrellaFish wrote:My gosh, you did that picture of the mini-wannabe princesses? That's one of my favorites!
Yep, it's mine. ^_^ It was originally on Elfwood back in... err... 2003 I think. I took it down after it was stolen (I was very shocked to find pins of the art on Ebay, I was naive to the thievery of the internet and artwork), and in the past year put it up on DeviantArt, and back up on Elfwood in a "This is MY art and I'm gonna show it off!" defiance.

Wow! GargoyleGoddess21, your Gargoyles' art is stunning. Your work puts David Hedgecock's "Gargoyles" comic work to shame.

This one I did back in 2002-2003 when I was working at the Disney Store and surrounded by all the Disney Princess Collection stuff. It inspired me to create a Disney Princess Revolt:
I absolutely LOVE that you included Anastasia in your revolt! :) I'm always correcting people about that, and the picture itself is so cool 'cause she's instantly recognizable and actually looks like the character, even in that style, which is so far removed from the look of the film. Brilliant! :D

MerXan, great job! My favorite is certainly the Belle and Beast picture. Gorgeous!

Disney Duster, I was so excited to see your response and I'm glad you liked it! I like the concept of Cinderella being alone, too. Although, I originally wanted to have her animal friends surround her, I couldn't find a good picture of them in the book I was using to draw the picture. So, I decided there'd be no more animals, and I think it looks better that way.

GargoyleGoddess21, I have seen that picture everywhere, and it's great to meet the artist! By the way, awesome gargoyles pictures! I've often wished I could draw the Gargoyles characters, but I'm much better at drawing round characters. Still, your pictures look great!

Thanks, UmbrellaFish, by any chance could you tell me what book you were using...like the authors and illustrators, if it's a read-along, etc. I want to know because...well, does it have a scene close to what you drew (Cinderella transforming)? I, too think it looks better without the animals.

It was a Read-Along. I wish I had it with me! I've got a play to do soon, so I might not be able to give you the author and book until tomorrow.

I did a LOT of Disney drawings in 2005, but unfortunately the pictures I have of them are TERRIBLE! There are also going to be a lot. Sorry if this bothers anyone!

Now that I'm older, I wonder how my Disney-drawing skills have progressed. It's been a while since I've drawn any character.

Those are fantastic brownie! Some of them are a bit stiff, but most of them are great.

DisneyDuster, I checked out the book last night. It was a Read-Along written by Della Cohen. The illustration I used for my picture was on page 36.

Thank you Gargoyle Goddess.

UmbrellaFish, I think you meant a "Read-Aloud-Storybook", not a Read-Along. I looked at my Read-Aloud-Storybook by Della Cohen and on page 36 was Cinderella in a swirl of Disney dust. I'm even more impressed you drew a totally different pose from that picture!

GargoyleGoddess21-The wannabe Princesses picture is funny  (Thought Mulan and Pocahontas are Disney Princesses now but you made this picture before they made them Disney Princess).
The one with Snow White and the apple is amazing :D the one with Snow White and The Prince is also good but it reminds me of the Sleeping Beauty 2003 DVD cover (they're even in the same poses).

Wow, all of these drawings are so good! :D

Here's a drawing I did of Jim Hawkins last December that I thought I'd share.

Sure. I should probably post this under "Disney imagery you'd like to share" thread too. I love the picture, but just a mild mature warning though just in case. :p
