I watched it a few days ago on disc, and I do agree, Marce, it does look like the Masterpiece DVD.

I thought the previous Blu-ray restoration was beautiful too, but this one is pretty great. I noticed that these new 4K restorations are based on older restorations for these movies. For example, Cinderella looks a lot like the VHS from the 90s, Snow White looks a little bit like the Platinum DVD, Alice looks like the Masterpiece DVD. I wonder if Sleeping Beauty will look like the 2003 DVD.

Now about the new Alice colors... do you also find the hair color a tad strange? Kinda greenish?

And I agree with your about the color palettes of these new restorations being closer to what the VHS colors were. I guess in the 2000s they went a little crazy with color modification now they are going back to the roots.

That said, I don't think the 2003 Sleeping Beauty DVD looks right: skin tones look ashy, reds look orangey. That dvd was mastered to be viewed in a tube TV, not an HD one. The blu ray colors make more sense to me. Sadly, there are quite a few shots with modifications and zero grain to the whole movie. We'll see if they release a 4K gets a good restoration!

I watched it on Disney+ and I thought it looked perfect. Alice’s hair never looked green to me. I would also think the film looking like its first, older DVD would be good if that old DVD looked good.

Cinderella I actually question because I thought her hair was supposed to be strawberry blonde, not dark brownish yellow, and the yellow seems gone from the background of the first shot of “So This is Love”. Don’t get me wrong, I am infinitely glad Disney redid Cinderella and fixed the detail-erasing they had done in 2005, and the new 4K restoration is vaaaastly superior to the 2005 one, but…well, I just wonder.

Hey Marce, I didn't find any fault with the colors in the new restoration. I thought it looked pretty great, I was very satisfied. About Sleeping Beauty, I agree with you, I like the 2008 restoration a lot better than the 2003. I heard people complained about the Blu-ray restoration, saying it wasn't faithful to the original colors, and they even showed some cels to compare with the shots in the restored movie. We'll see when Disney releases the new restoration then
