^You're welcome. :)

Here's the full list of winners: https://deadline.com/2021/04/annie-awar ... 234734559/

I guess the biggest surprise was that Wolfwakers won Best Direction, though Soul won the most awards, including Best Animated Feature. Curiously, all the feature awards went to one of those two movies. Onward, Over the Moon, The Croods: A New Age, Trolls World Tour, The Willoughbys and all the other movies went home empty handed.

As for the ceremony, it's a shame all the acceptance speeches were prerecorded as we didn't get to see the real reactions from winners. The upside is that the show was shorter thanks to that, and some acceptance videos were quite creative, like the Soul ones.

^No, unfortunately it didn't. I also wish Onward had won something.

Menken has the most aesthetically pleasing display out of that lot. But I guess it’s easier when you have beaucoup Oscars!

Oscar voters anonymously reveal who they voted for in the Best Animated Feature category.
“Wolfwalkers” should win, it’s a knockout. Fingers crossed for “Wolfwalkers” in this day and age when a lot of voters haven’t watched everything. Pixar is amazing. “Soul” is great. But somebody needs to break the cycle. Pixar has the stranglehold on lazy voters who don’t watch all the features. “What was the Pixar? We saw that one!” The Pete Docter movie I liked more was “Inside Out.” I didn’t like “Onward” so much. “A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon” is Aardman. They make it look easy, which is a compliment: they don’t always get the credit they deserve.

Even though I thought “Wolfwalkers” was seriously great, I went with “Soul.” What great values worth voting for! It’s beautifully done. It deserved it on many levels.

“Soul” is the best movie of the year.

I didn't see Over the Moon. I skipped [A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon]. Onward was fun but isn't sophisticated. Wolfwalkers was beautiful. But Soul is a masterpiece — it's unequivocally my favorite movie of the year. I put it at No. 1 for best picture on my nominations ballot — that obviously didn't work out, which is annoying because I think animated and international films aren't considered enough for that category.

Soul won Best Animated Feature making Pete Docter the Pixar director with the most Oscar wins. The film also won Best Score. If Anything Happens I Love You won the Oscar for Best Animated Short. It's interesting that both Pixar shorts that were part of the Spark Shorts program, Kitbull and Burrow, failed to win in the category. Tenet won Best Visual Effects.

Meh. But I am glad for Pete Docter anyway. I noticed that they didn't show any part of the film when they're green blobs in the video package.

At least it seems they watched some of the animated films this year.

It's also the fifth Pixar film to receive 2 Oscars after The Incredibles, Up, Toy Story 3 and Coco. I'm glad it won in both categories. I think it's a deserving winner.

That's true, but I'm actually more surprised that in the first two years the Spark Shorts are eligible for the award, they've been nominated both times.

That's true, good observation! I bet it was intentional.

By the way, estefan, are you the same estefan on the Animated Views forum? If so, congratulations on being one of the winners of their Oscar contest this year!

I am! I was definitely surprised I was one of the winners since I got the lead acting categories, adapted screenplay and cinematography wrong.

This marks Disney's 14th win in the Animated Feature category out of 20 ceremonies (or the 15th if you count Spirited Away) and their tally will most likely increase next year with a win for either Luca or Encanto (my money's on Encanto).

Still, it's disappointing that no 2D-animated Pixar short has ever won in the category. Day & Night, Kitbull, and Burrow were better than most of their shorts that did win, in my opinion.

But those were difficult categories to predict this year, most people had them wrong too. You did great. You even guessed best song right, which was a surprise win.

Wow, that's really impressive. Pixar has many more wins than WDAS, though; 11 vs. 3.

It is, but I don't think they lost because they were 2D. I hope some 2D-animated Pixar short wins in the future.
