Yeah. Think about it: Luke had wanted to train a new generation of Jedi, including his own nephew. However, all that literally blows up in his face when it’s realized there’s a bit of the Dark Side in Ben and he nearly acts on instinct. It’s because of his failure to bring back the Jedi that Luke spends God-knows-how long in exile and believing that everything is his fault, hence why he refuses at first to come out of exile and face the First Order.

Honestly, it’s pretty relatable because I’m sure plenty of folks in real life have hesitated to jump back into their craft or purpose when they let one failure of theirs rule their lives.

Exactly. Some fans are too obstinate and refuse to grow up with the characters themselves or allow the characters to actually grow.

And a lot of people who had issues with Kylo or Luke's characterizations should check out the upcoming comic series by Charles Soule, The Rise of Kylo Ren, that will premiere this December right before the final film comes out. It promises to flesh out Kylo's origin and the reason he turned to the dark side as well as explain the Knights of Ren who will play major roles in the film.

Already a description of Issue 2 of the comic has revealed that Ben didn't kill off Luke's students. The night of the attack, about half of Luke's students assumed that Ben had killed their master so they attacked him. More than likely he killed them in self-defense then before he fled to Snoke, the only person he felt he could trust at that point having been abandoned by all others. The remaining surviving students then followed him to get revenge.

Another theory is that Ben immediately fled with half the students chasing him and the other half, who remained behind possibly searching for Luke to see if he was still alive, were killed by the Knights of Ren who Snoke must have sent so that Luke would assume that Ben was behind the massacre of his students.

I think after the last jedi the old strategy of showing little to nothing about the it will bite them. People were hyped for the first two in this trilogy without extra push, but after the disaster of the second, they need more convincing.

If the film ends up underperforming, Disney won't be able to deny anymore that a portion of the fandom gave up on the franchise after they were dissatisfied with The Last Jedi. I don't think they'll be able to blame the marketing or release date this time around like they did with Solo.

Those stats have already been debunked and wouldn't even be available this early on before the film's release. Just more editorializing headlines that are clickbait and cater to the vocal minority that hates Disney's Star Wars.

The real stats are these ones.

Box Office Pro is very reliable when it comes to forecasts. It was recently spot on Maleficent 2's opening weekend projecting it at $37 million when the trades had it opening at $50. The links you posted talk about only the first day of pre-sales on a single ticketing service. That alone isn't enough to calculate the opening weekend numbers. In any case, the actual numbers that are being projected are still pretty big and even though I believe the film will gross less than its predecessors, it still seems it will cross the billion dollar mark.

You stated that it was "recently spot on" meaning that their box office predictions would have been released around the time of the film's release. We're still two months out before TROS' release so forgive me if I don't really put much weight in their report. I never said that the links I posted are going to calculate opening weekend numbers but they do inform you about some of the hype for this film which is more than what Box Office Pro is providing. It's safe to say that TROS will follow Star Wars patterns with the final installment of each trilogy making less than the first but more than the second. That's how it went with Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the Sith and likely what will occur now. People are safely predicting $1.4-1.6 billion for this film. When it comes to Disney releases, I generally go by what Scott Mendelson says and he agrees on this.

No, I meant a recent title. Their long-range projection for Maleficent 2 was first announced two months prior to its release as well. Anyway, I think $1.4-1.6 billion is too optimistic. The industry tends to inflate projections for Disney titles. I'm predicting $1.1-1.2 billion worldwide. We'll just have to wait and see.

Oh I see. Thanks for confirming. The industry inflated projections for Toy Story 4 but that clearly wasn't the case for Aladdin and Maleficent since those two both did better than predicted, and The Lion King shifted a lot since at first people thought it would be an Endgame level hit and then they claimed it would drastically be downgraded from that and the final product was something in between. Star Wars and Marvel films tend to be completely different animals from traditional Disney fare so I wouldn't really equate TROS with "typical" projections for other Disney titles so far, especially when as we've seen, each film has had its own varied history.

To quote literally anybody who’s said it so far in the movies, I have a bad feeling about this. :(

I'm almost confident that the soundtrack listing is more meant to suggest that this is the last ride of the Falcon we'll see onscreen, rather than the last ride of the Falcon in-universe. Especially since the leaked ending says that Chewbacca is with the rest of the characters and he would be in the Falcon with Lando during the final battle so if he's alive, it's safe to say that the Falcon and Lando survive as well.

I hope you’re right, Jean. I really hope you’re right. When Han got stabbed, I was crushed. What crushed me more was seeing Luke dying in TLJ. If the Falcon does get blown to smithereens, though, that will totally destroy me.

While I can't promise anything about the Falcon yet, C-3PO's fate seems confirmed. JJ specifically said that there was no way he would ever kill 3PO off when asked to do so.

A heartwarming article about Billie Lourd and her relationship with her mother. There's some Leia news for TROS as well.

So, supposedly, there were test screenings for TROS and because they were “bad”, George Lucas is being brought on to fix things. Um... did the previous episodes (TFA and TLJ) or spinoffs even get text screenings? :?

This entire article has been debunked. In fact, this website is as notorious as We Got This Covered and responsible for all the hate online about Brie Larson, claiming Captain Marvel was going to flop hard and Marvel was tired of Brie Larson and replacing her. There's absolutely no legitimacy whatsoever to this article especially the part about test screenings. Films like these never have test screenings open to the general public. And GL was consulted by JJ Abrams for this film but that was way back and revealed at Star Wars Celebration in April.
