I'm not planning to see it in theaters--maybe if I had a theater nearby I would, it's hard to justify an hour drive unless it's something really big--but I am looking forward to seeing it. I watched the Golden Book since I don't mind knowing the gist of the story. I think it definitely has potential.

I've always said this franchise has the kind of potential Toy Story or Pooh do, as far as being able to go forever. That said, I was thinking the other day about story similarities between the first Inside Out to the first Toy Story, too, how Joy has to accept "sharing" Riley with Sadness the same way Woody has to learn to accept Buzz is also Andy's favorite. In both, the characters have to accept having equal value to one another. I wonder if IO2 will have any similarities to TS2; TS2 did introduce a host of new characters with Woody considering leaving Andy, I wonder if Joy will have the thought of leaving Riley to Anxiety to take care of here or something like that.

I just saw Inside Out 2 in theatres and it was kinda a mixed bag. While it didnt came CLOSE to the emotional scenes of the original ( Bing Bong or Riley arriving home) it still was nontheless a worthy sequel as the overall theme of puberty and anxiety is as important as appreciating sadness in the first, Anxiety as the villain was clever and having Joy figure out stuff with multiple emotions instead of just one like Anxiety or Sadness was a breathe of fresh air. Also Sadness was more likeable here than her Pick me attitude was in the first, with her need to Touch every good emotion lol.

While I thought that it was weird that it seemed that Joy had to learn the same lesson over again with appreciating  negative sided emotions, by the end it was more understandable as Anxiety pushed everyone around and got rid of the OG emotions, but still, if you switch out Anxiety with Sadness, its almost the same

And the New emotions arent as iconic as the first ones, but i cant blame them, i mean who can compare to core emotions? I think Ennui was my fav out of the new ones. Envy was kinda pointless imo (and isnt something that pops up in teenhood but childhood too?)

And the middle part felt kinda repetitive with the group trying to get back to the headquarters, but it was fresh enough with the New locations with the drawings becoming Rileys thoughts or the sarcasm thing and I loved the concept of the main strings of memorys building Rileys overall attitude thing.

I think the only emotional scene that nearly made me cry Was when Joy said that it she guesses that its normal to be less happy when you grow up and her being needed less

And im so happy that they didnt throw stupid IP references in the same veins of the last few WDAS sequels (and Wish)

Overall it was a fun experience, but nothing spoiler worthy aside from the new emotions, still one of Pixars most worthy and best sequels.
I give the movie 7.5/10

Also I thought Rileys "big secret" was that she would be a lesbian or something lol but turned out to be something silly meaningless

Several online posters were certain Riley was gonna be either non-binary or homosexual..... glad that wasn’t the case...Disney doesn’t need that right now, imo.

Maybe somewhere on the first page or something, I don't remember anyone posting that? For me and I imagine most people, it wouldn't have mattered either way around? And it wouldn't have stopped the film from being a blockbuster since it's riding on the first film; now, IO3 on the other hand might reflect a reaction to it in its performance--if audiences cared that much. It's always curious though to see the agenda of homophobia carried out by those who, well, claim to be gay, which is why I don't believe everything I read online. Send a woman to spew misogyny, send a gay person to spew homophobia, send a Black person to spew racism, etc. Classic tactic. Unfortunately, a person's identity can't make hatred anything other than what it is--hatred.

I am relieved... I was terrified Pixar was going to mess this one up. They didn't.

No spoilers.

I thought the movie was excellent and very much a worthy sequel to the original. The structure of the film is similar, but explores different scenarios and stages and shows more of the pieces that make up our minds. Everything felt organic and well thought out.
The ending fit the movie perfectly.
Does it achieve the same emotional heights of the first one? No... but that is because the idea of the loss of childhood is much more emotional than the stresses of entering the teenage world. The movie still packs an (emotional) punch.

There were two (mild) nitpicks, but no need to go into it.

Best Pixar movie in YEARS. Will definitely watch again.

Finally saw this today! I loved it. Riley’s experience with anxiety felt really visceral— at times it was a little hard to watch. In a good way? Haha. You felt for Riley. Probably one of Pixar’s best sequels.

I was a little surprised she didn’t face any consequences for sneaking into the coach’s office and reading the coach’s notebook. I guess the anxiety attack results from that. But I thought the coach would find out and she’d lose her spot on the team.

I saw the movie and in my opinion it's really great. The story is not as original as the first one but it is correct and explained well the evolution between beeing a child and a teen.
I've never thought that Inside out was so beloved but last month when I went to a pixar exhibition here in Span I saw too much people loving the inside out section and taking lot of photos.
About Riley beeing queer well, I think that Disney is not going to make this kind of character in a while. They need to stay away from polemic and honestly It wouldn't add much to the story. They choosed a more universal feeling that almost everybody felt during their adolescence.

The mixed feelings just get mixed-er. I'm not especially excited by this movie, but I also don't really care for Incredibles 2, so if a movie had to beat it, I guess it might as well be this one.

I see reporters are still pushing this narrative about Elemental ...

... even though Elemental grossed over twice as much as Lightyear and five or six times as Strange World. But I guess journalists can't be expected to look past opening weekend headlines.

But I expect this time next year we'll be hearing the folks at Variety and Collider opining about Disney and Pixar only producing sequels and wondering why, oh why that is ...

I remember when Incredibles 2 was released people were ecstatic about it the same way they are ecstatic about Inside Out 2 now. I believe the same fate awaits this movie as well.

Between the two, I prefer Incredibles 2, it's not perfect by all means, but was a lot more entertaining to me, and it had the best action sequences seen in animation.

I prefeer The incredibles 2 too but I have to say that this one is really good. Both of them have lots of great things to expand their universes with sequels or tv shows.

Like the storyline of Incredibles 2 repeating the previous film, the emotions’ storyline in Inside Out 2 was, basically, a rehash of the original movie’s plot. I think what I loved about this sequel was Riley’s real world storyline. The stakes were pretty small, but that was refreshing. It felt like a slice of life movie. For me, I don’t see foresee this movie going down in my ratings in the future. After watching it I felt pretty comfortable that — in general — Pixar is in a better state now than Disney. Although, I agree with PatchofBlue that the box office success of this movie spells a disappointing future for more original Pixar (and Disney) films. Pixar needed a win, and I think deserved it with this film, but maybe all this is too much!
