The reason why Jeremy Jordan left the show is that he's been cast as Jimmy in the 2nd season of Smash. And I'm so excited for that. WHEE!

Those tony voters are nothing but a bunch of anti-disney jerks. Aladdin and Hunchback of Notre Dame better win some Tonys is the future. If I was in charge of Walt Disney Theatrical, I bribe the critics and tony voters by giving them money. Yeah I know, it won't work.

I'm sorry, it's just that, tony voters always ingore Disney especially best musical, except Lion King since it did win Best Musical.

Or maybe, here's a crazy idea, they simply prefer the other show that was nominated. From what I've read, "Once" is a very strong show. Until you've seen Once, you can't complain that it beat Newsies for the Tony.

OMG, you just made me so happy!!! I was even thinking yesterday morning about how I haven't been able to go to NYC to see Newsies yet!!! I already have accepted that I wasn't able to see the original Broadway cast together, so a travelling show will have to do.

How sad!

Still, it was a very respectable run for a show that was originally supposed to be a 3 month limited engagement on Broadway. This means I definitely need to catch the tour when it comes (relatively) nearby!

Well, that's very disappointing. :( But, it has a good run and it's going on tour too. I can't wait to see it at the Pantages Theatre. Need to keep an eye on the tickets though. You never know what will happen.

I was little disheartened to hear this as I loved the musical but at least, I got to see on Broadway before it closed. What a great time, I had and that was easily one of my favorite birthday presents.

What?! Why is it closing?! I thought it was doing great business! What went wrong? What's going to fill its shoes (aka the theater space) when it's gone?!

I know I saw the show in July of 2012, but this is freaking upsetting! :(

Disney has finally released the newly-added song for Newsies on Tour called Letter from the Refuge on YouTube.

Andrew Keenan Bolger, the original Crutchie on Broadway, also performed the song Letter from the Refuge during the Newsboys of New York Reunite! show at 54 Below.

Glad to see it get some kind of official release! Absolutely enjoyed the song when I saw the touring production in Orlando this past January. Now I can add it to my own custom (or coustom?) playlist of Newsies favorites. Too bad they never release any "touring" CDs, I would have loved to have a Dan DeLuca version of "Santa Fe" as he absolutely killed it on the stage.

I just opened up my email, and what did I see?!:

STOP THE PRESSES: THE NEWSIES MUSICAL IS COMING TO THEATERS!
The Tony Award-winning musical is headed to theaters in early 2017. To top it all off, Jeremy Jordan will be reprising his Tony Award-nominated performance as Jack Kelly. Three other members of the original cast, Kara Lindsay (Katherine), Ben Fankhauser (Davey), and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Crutchie), will also be returning to reprise their respective roles. To capture the experience, the returning cast will join the North American cast for a single performance at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre in Hollywood in front of an invited audience.

Dan DeLuca and Joey Barreiro performed for the very first time a cut song from Newsies (the movie) called The Truth About the Moon during The Newsboys' Variety Show at 54 Below.

Dahni Shaw also performed The Truth About the Moon during Lost and Found: The Unsung World of Alan Menken at The Backyard Bandshell.

You can find an instrumental version of the song in question, here.

There are also three cut songs written specifically for the stage adaptation.
