On Saturday, July 15, Disney XD’s DuckTales stars Ben Schwartz (the voice of Dewey), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), and Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley) will join executive producer Matt Youngberg and co-producer/story editor Francisco Angones for a Q&A panel taking place from 4:15– 5:15 p.m. on Stage 28.

"Donald's Birthday" is one of six new DuckTales shorts that will be available on Friday, June 9, In celebration of Donald Duck's birthday - the iconic Disney character first appeared in the cartoon The Wise Little Hen, which was released on June 9, 1934.

The new DuckTales shorts will give viewers a glimpse at a few of Duckburg's beloved characters (Scrooge McDuck, Huey, Donald, Webby, Launchpad and Mrs. Beakley) and will debut on Disney XD and the Disney XD app. The Donald, Scrooge and Huey shorts will be available that day on the Disney XD YouTube page, followed by the Webby, Launchpad and Mrs. Beakley shorts available on Friday, June 16.

Also, the premiere date of the TV movie and the series has been announced:

Disney XD’s DuckTales will premiere in a one-hour television movie, titled “Woo-oo!” of course, to be presented for 24 consecutive hours on Saturday, August 12th, beginning at midnight EDT/PDT. Then, the series will debut with two new episodes on Saturday, September 23rd starting at 7:00 a.m. EDT/PDT and playing throughout the day. Each will also be available on the Disney XD app and Disney XD VOD on those same dates. The September series premiere coincides with the 30th anniversary of the original Emmy Award-winning series.

The new intro is not that bad but it can never match the original.

Of course not, but I liked the idea behind this new intro: Scrooge and friends chasing the coin/treasures/adventures, while the baddies are chasing after them. I also liked the comic book elements in it. The new version of the song is not bad either, but the music seems to be too loud compared to the vocals.

One thing I fear, though, is that Duckworth might not be in the series after all, despite having been confirmed in one article. He doesn't appear in the intro, nor on the list of characters announced today:

The voice cast is David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck, Danny Pudi as Huey, Ben Schwartz as Dewey, Bobby Moynihan as Louie, Kate Micucci as Webby Vanderquack, Beck Bennett as Launchpad McQuack, Toks Olagundoye as Mrs. Beakley and Tony Anselmo as Donald Duck.

At this point I wish they had done something original for the theme song and not tried to replicate the original. If they are going to be modern and new, then please be new and not a rip off of a much better project from the past. *sigh*

I hate the designs for the nephews, Mrs. Beakley, and Webby. Mrs. Beakley was always my favorite character after Magica and Scrooge. This design pisses me off in a way, because she was a strong, get-it-done character who just happened to be an older, heavy woman, jeez; apparently those personality traits mean she has to look like a male pro-wrestler to whoever's making this reboot. Strength can look like a woman is all I'm saying. I do kind of like how Scrooge’s design is generally the way he looked originally (I mean, pre-DuckTales, with the red coat). I'll check it out even if it won't be anywhere as good as the original. I hope I can get past the voice acting.

I like how they re-did the opening scene from the movie with the treasure and the crabs. I'm laughing at the opening movie being titled DuckTales: Woo-oo!

I was a bit disappointed with the singer choice as well. The original version was so much better!

I don't like Mrs. Beakley's design either. And I hope Magica de Spell appears despite not being on the list nor in the intro.

The characters within are different as are the stories and continuities. There's something exciting about the idea of seeing more of the comics version being brought to life through this series. And as I said in my previous post ...

I'm hoping that this is a chance to experience the gist of the old comics with the additional characters of the old series, maybe even mix it all in with lots of new action, heart, and humor.

Anyway, has anyone else played with the All Ducked Out avatar creator on the Disney XD app? It's got a Darkwing hat in it! I wonder if it's just a nod to the character or if it's a sign that he may have a cameo in the show at some point.

I didn’t think about that when commenting on the designs. I’ll admit I have no knowledge of the comics (hmm… I wonder if they’ve ever had a complete book compilation of the comics available to buy), so I can’t help but wonder how much of the various designs are taking from them and I didn’t realize it?
