I can't wait to see this in HD with 7.1 sound
The little mermaid?
Dalmatians wont be released as a Diamond ive been rolf.
Isn't Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio officially still involved as well?
That would probably give us...
2013 - Aladdin, The Little Mermaid
2014 - The Jungle Book, Peter Pan
2015 - Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio
given that possible line-up, 101 Dalmatians exclusion doesn't seem that strange (although personally, I'd much prefer 101D as a DE over JB).

Aladdin looks like a drag queen, or is the one on the right Jasmine Jafar is just in awe of such ugly adversaries.. The tigergod has poked his own eyes out.. Genie is holding his hands up in the air as if to say " Can't say we didn't try!" and Iago looks like he's in desperate need of medication!
The cave of wonders has always had glowing white eyes.

Mmm, where is the rest of his body? How can he fit behind the title?
Awful design.
I feel like because he's a genie he can become any shape, including one with no lower half I'm serious lol or he's just wispy smoke under there, you know? But I admit having blue smoke go from the lamp up to his torso would probably be better.
Just curious, I recently got the UK "Musical Masterpiece" edition recently (it was fairly cheap on Amazon, and was one of the few DACs I was yet to own). I noticed that the colours seemed a lot more saturated than I remembered - Genie was a rather dark shade of blue (kind of like the blue on Beast's jacket on the BatB 3D cover), Aladdin and Jasmine were more tan than orange... was this the same transfer that they used for the Platinum Edition, if anyone happens to know? IMO it looked terrible.
As the first ever Disney DTV sequel based on a canon film, does everyone think The Return of Jafar will get a Blu-ray release after Aladdin comes out next year? I've only seen the film a few times, and not recently, so I don't remember what the quality was like or if it would look good in HD.
Take for example the fact that they released Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas on Blu-ray but skipped over Belle's Magical World, which basically consists of television-quality animation. I'm wondering if the quality isn't that great if Disney would be willing to restore a DTV sequel enough to look good on Blu-ray.
I know Belle's Magical World is pieced together from discarded TV series episodes and The Return of Jafar is a full film, but I am just thinking out loud to see what others think.

Let's not forget that the popularity of the source material is a factor as well.. I mean Aladdin and it's subsequent sequels have generated much buzz upon first release.. That being said there was a time not so long ago that we thought that the "original" was left out of the diamond line-up! I for one think it is likely Disney will release all 3 on bluray, simply due to the overall popularity. I wonder if there is much to be gained in terms of quality though. I am interested in seeing it on blue though, despite their obvious flaws and often horrific animation I find both to be highly entertaining movies.. at times
When it comes to brains, I got the lion-share,
but when it comes to bruth strength, I'm afraid I'm at the shallow end of the gene pool
Sotiris wrote:The trailer is so-so. I like the CG lamp and smoke effects.
Isn't it odd that the release is not referred to as a Diamond edition?
Indeed! Although this refers to a german release and perhaps they're not familiar with the term.. Just as in France where everything is labeled Grand Classique if I recall correctly, then again I might be wrong about the whole ordeal

Well, Disney Germany still denies, that Aladdin will be a Diamond Edition and lets not forget, the BBFC rated two trailers with the same length and only the first is labeled as 'Diamond Edition Trailer'.
Since Fantasia, I wouldn't be surprised at all, if Disney kicked Aladdin again out of the Line.

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves; after all, when I put in my Fantasia Blu-ray it pops up on my PS3 as a Diamond Edition (sure it may not be stated that it's a Diamond release on the cover, or anywhere on the packaging, but it's still manufactured and labeled as a Diamond; at least, it is for the US release).
At least we'll still probably get wonderful picture/audio quality with all of the Platinum's glorious bonuses relegated to the idiotic Virtual Vault.

It is only, because Fantasia was supposed to be a Diamond Edition. They forgot to change it!
atlanticaunderthesea wrote:I don't know why they change it so much; surely there is no need ?
Yeah, I don't think there was any need to change it. Disney has been acting pretty obscenely the past few years releasing any non-Pixar or non-blockbuster film, and it's really quite sad.
Scamander wrote:It is only, because Fantasia was supposed to be a Diamond Edition. They forgot to change it!
Or it was meant to be a Diamond all along, but then they changed it to a Special Edition 2 Movie Collection instead
Why would they do that? The Diamond Edition was supposed to include both films as well. Not to mention the third disc (Fantasia World), which was also cancelled!
