Then, they finally lost all my respect when Peter Pan was given such a crappy "Platinum" treatment and deserved so much more.
That's exactly my timeline, too. "TENG" had the most pointless re-release ever. And once "Peter Pan" came out, for the first time I thought, gee, maybe the Platinums aren't as impervious to the studio's hackneyed DVD standards as I initially suspected.

And Escapay, "Spring, Jack! Heel, Jack! Come Up With A Nickname For Me To Call You, Jack!" is actually my favorite nickname I've gotten thus far. Sadly, it will take you five minutes just to type it out. Life is rough...

Anyhow, I guess we know how to make our voice heard: become soccer moms.

It won't make any difference. Trust me. Fact is, we are not their primary focus. Is that fair? No. But that's how they're doing things now. You would need to create a nation-wide boycott to have any affect on this. Remember, you vote with your wallet.

I am disappointed, yet not surprised, as I look over the assortment, or lack there of, of bonus features allotted to "The Sword in the Stone". I like this film, and I don't yet own it, so I will gladly purchase it and add it to my Disney DVD collection. The fact of the matter is, is that this film isn't one of Disney's brightest shining stars, so the lack of bonus material comes as no surprise. However, I would have liked to see a little featurette about the making of the film or something, even if it were only 15 minutes or so. Oh well...

Another Sherman Brothers feature? Well, at least Disney still remembers people worked there before the cheapquels...

It's the same featuertte from the gold collection, basicly all of these so called "Special Editions" are nothing but poorly, revamped Gold Collections.

I don't think I'll bother double dipping with this one. Apart from the new cover there's nothing worth me shelling out for.

OK, I finally have to ask.

What on earth is a soccer mom!?

Is it a football-loving mother ... or what?

A stereotypical suburban mom with a mini-van or SVU who ports kids around the their after-school soccer matches.

The Sword in the Stone release

Post by WilbyDaniels »

Well, Disney is doing it again! I agree with the multitudes. It seems all they do is re-package the GE , add the Sherman Brothers(again!) and call it an anniversary edition.I would like to talk to the person that makes the final decision on their DVD content. It's very disappointing when they(Disney Co.) make such a hoop-la about their future releases and then disappoint us.They should put us on the board of decisions concerning their dvd "extras". I was anticipting a Making feature, trailers(original and subsiquent re-releases) Well, here I am disappointed AGAIN!!

Most (if not all) Gold Collection DVDs have French and Spanish language tracks, I own Sword in The Stone GC and i watch it in Spanish; I'm not trying to be a snob, i just say that so that description can be more accurate.

Um...I did include the French & Spanish tracks. The GC has it as 2.0 Dolby Mono, while the 45AE has them as 5.1 Dolby Digital.

Thanks, Matt.

The only reason I'm interested in getting this is for the theatrical ratio, so it's not a high priority for me to pick up on first-week sales. Took me about a year and a half to finally pick up Robin Hood, so I expect I'll get this one sometime in 2010. :P

Thanks for that, diego! It made the film seem more exciting than it really is (much like the Robin Hood trailer did a couple years ago). I like their choice of clips, but wasn't too fond of the added sound effects. I haven't watched the original DVD in awhile so I can't compare the video quality, but then again, the video itself gets pixelated at times (at least on my computer).

I especially love how when the voiceover guy says "Animated shorts!" it shows Merlin jumping around in his Bermuda clothes.
