I don't think it was a clip of the movie, more like an independent short.blackcauldron85 wrote:I'm watching Disney Channel right now, and an "UPisode" just aired- I guess it's a clip from the film. It was so funny!!! I don't know if I've ever been this exited for a Pixar film before.
But yes, it was a fun clip.
I admit I was a bit turned off by the design of the main characters, but after watching the footage I am convinced that they make a great duo.

The first 45 minutes of Up was shown at New York Comic Con and joblo.com gives a detailed report of what they saw here: http://www.joblo.com/index.php?id=25078 (major spoiler warning).
All I can say is... hmm. The first part sounds amazing, the second not so much. If the third act (what they didn't show) is as good as the first appears to be the movie might be awesome. If not, then Up may live in infamy as the movie that was almost great.

The comic con reviews were so great. I have such respect for Pixar but hearing that people truly loved the first half minutes was good news. I honestly don't see how it could be anything but great in the end, like that would be way too much of a stretch.
I saw that Upisode too! It was hilarious - the scout badge line was adorable. I think Carl and Russell will go down as one of the greatest and highly unexpected adventure duos.
here is the link to the Upisode in case anyone hasn't seen it. Not sure if you are all on facebook but so far I have found that a lot of the footage goes on there quickly and you don't have to sift thru youtube junk...I get so frustrated with low quality footage, especially when it's for animation this strong.

Working at Pixar really pays off. They even got to visit the world famous Roraima:
"Ronnie Del Carmen, a story artist who worked on the film, writes on his blog that visiting Roraima was "the grand daddy of all research trips. Easily the most adventurous, rigorous trip I've ever been involved in (and I've been in a few. They are a walk in the park by comparison)."

No wonder it inspired Arthur Conan Doyle to write The Lost World:

I think Russell is adorable and I agree that if the trailer is this funny then the film must be amazing. Has anyone been following the Wondercon coverage? I have been looking forward to seeing UP in 3D so any news related to that is appreciated. plus there is some info about how the idea of UP came about and little things to watch out for in the film (like the Pizza Planet truck)...just thought I'd share!

Well, Pixar always loves to hide things in their films. Just try to resist posting them here, or put a SPOILER ALERT if you find any. I like to find them myself.katemonster wrote:I think Russell is adorable and I agree that if the trailer is this funny then the film must be amazing. Has anyone been following the Wondercon coverage? true - from now I'll be sure to put spoiler alerts on any of my findings.
Besides my love for Pixar's little hidden car, eggs, ect, I am thrilled to hear that Pete Docter consciously pulled from classic adventure films. In this interview, Pete mentions some of the films that inspired UP, like Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz and the Capra films.
Oh and apparently Russell is inspired by a Pixar employee--
You based Russell on one of the animators at Pixar?
Docter: Yeah. ... Pete Sohn. He's just such an entertaining guy that we thought, "OK, when you're looking to create memorable characters, ... if you can climb a couple stairs on your way up by basing it on someone that you know or whatever, that's a great head start." And he's definitely a character.

Ohh another new UPisode is online- I am liking Russell more and more. Between the band aids and the GPS accident, this kid might become one of my favorite Pixar characters. Not to mention that with each clip I am getting more excited about seeing a pixar film in 3D- can you imagine a Pixar rain forest in 3D??
