Purple?! I don't know what kind of slipcover you got, but, the bar on The Little Mermaid: Platinum Edition is a sea green color.

I don't like it. The thing I hate the most is the boarder around the title and the fact that it is red. It looks bizarre to me. I really like the bottom half, but Tink deffinatley needs to be flying. Peter's head is so big and his eyebrows seem a bit too big to me. He looks a little off model. I hope this isn't final. I also thought the Platinum banner would be green. I'm kind of sad to see it be yellow.

No offense to anybody, but I never understood the fascination with Tinkerbell. She was a bizzatch in that movie!

Why? Three major things for me:Prince Ali wrote:Wow, why does everyone hate the cover art? I like it a lot. But just like everyone else, I think Peter's head could be smaller.
- I HATE when the make they "floating effect" and when a character is on the top of a logo and you see him fading...
- Too many characters all over the cover, it's too mixed up!
- The way Peter Pan is drawn, like it was a CGI movie.
Chandler (to Phoebe, over the phone) : Listen, Joey isn't gonna be here tonight so why don't you come over and I'll let you uh.. feel my bicep; or maybe more...

I think the cover for the Peter Pan PE is a bit of a mixed bag. It looks nifty in some places, but it seems to be modeled after the cover for The Little Mermaid. It's pretty obvious: Peter's head is in the top center (like Ariel), with the film's title right below it. And Captain Hook, like Ursula, is placed at the bottom left corner with the sidekicks/supporting characters placed near the bottom of the cover.
However, it needs to be changed. Disney made a bad mistake with the "Disney's Fast Play with Disney's Fast Play" at the bottom right corner (when it should be "Disney DVD with Disney's Fast Play", the color scheme looks off, and the three children are placed in different places rather than following one another. Not to mention Peter's head is too big (and Tinker Bell is much too prominent). But I like the gold Platinum Edition banner.

Actually, Snow White and The Lion King both follow that pattern, too, and Aladdin, Bambi, and Cinderella partially follow it. Only Beauty and the Beast and Lady and the Tramp break the style.azul017 wrote:I think the cover for the Peter Pan PE is a bit of a mixed bag. The thing I hate most about it is the red boarder around the title. It's so... red and pointy. lol. If you look on the previews menu on TLM DVD, there is a different boarder around the logo that is less sharp and more appealing to my eyes. I really hope they change it to that boarder. I'm also a fan of the original font for the title from the past releases. Here is a picture of it courtesy of lighthousemike:

I love the bottom half of the cover art. I just think there is something better to be done with the upper portion. Have Peter flying or something and not so big and make Tink get off her lazy ass and strike a cool pose. She looks so boring on the cover and the only reason for this release is to shamelessly plug her own feature, so she should try to sell herself more! lol. I'm growing more accustomed to the cover art with each day, and Peter looks smaller to me today than he did 2 days ago, but he still feels to big and Tink is WAY too big. Especially compared to John, whose teddy bear overlaps the logo that Tink is sitting on...I also feel that if they keep the current picture of Pan, they should start the disolve sooner, or just not have his body continue beneath the logo. I don't like that Wendy is flying over Pan's arm.

Pesonally, I don't care too much about the cover. I store my DVD's on a shelf so I never actually see the covers anyway.
I do hope the remastering involves a better job of syncronizing the sound. The old Special Edition had sync problems. Captain Hook's eyebrows weren't with the ticking (of the clock) when the crocodile is introduced. Additionally, when they show the croc, his tail didn't move with the ticking.
When I first discovered this problem I exchanged my DVD with Disney and my new DVD had the same problem. I am certain the problem wasn't my equipment because I tried the DVD on other players and tvs and always had the same problem. The VHS that came out a few years before had perfect syncronization.
I can't wait for Peter Pan to come out because it is one of my favorites. The story flows perfectly and it is so much fun. Captain Hook is my favorite villian because he is so over the top and funny. I also love the way he is drawn. Everything in the film just seems to work perfectly.

Just to Wendy, ha, and that's because she didn't want to share Peter.Prince Ali wrote:No offense to anybody, but I never understood the fascination with Tinkerbell. She was a bizzatch in that movie!
She is clearly loyal (would sacrifice herself for Peter), is smokin' hot (I LOVE short blondes, redheaded mermaids too though), and playful too! If she were real, five feet tall or so, and we could do something with the wings, I'd marry her in a second!

I agree with you, she is the cutest of them all. Altough Belle is beautiful too.slave2moonlight wrote:Just to Wendy, ha, and that's because she didn't want to share Peter.Prince Ali wrote:No offense to anybody, but I never understood the fascination with Tinkerbell. I will definitly buy this DVD, because I don't have the perviously released DVD. I don't mind the cover, but I don't find it to be very fantastic either. I would leave Hook, but take away Smee, and the Croc, at the bottom left, but closer to the corner. Next I would have the Darling children in the bottom right corner. Not as close as Hook is to his corner, but still the Darling's would be close. Next, I would have Never Land up on top, across the whole top. Then, have Peter Pan above, in the middle part of the cover, the Darling children. Next have Tinker Bell in the middle, between Hook and the Darling children. Then have the "Walt Disney's Peter Pan 2-Disc Special Edition" in the middle of the cover. Lastly, put Tiger Lily above Hook and in the Middle of the cover too.

This is definitely a GREAT moment of redemption for Tinker Bell, in any version of the story. Which is good, because she tries to KILL Wendy early in the story, and in Disney's version, she gladly tells Hook the location of Peter's hiding place. She's SO jealous that she's willing to unquestioningly hand her best friend over to the enemy if said enemy will Shanghai Wendy in return. I think that Tinker Bell is incredibly mean-spirited and petty throughout most of the story (in any version), but her willingness to sacrifice herself in Peter's place is extremely selfless and that it does really redeem her, in my opinion.slave2moonlight wrote:She is clearly loyal (would sacrifice herself for Peter)
