With all the negative reviews about Red Steel what made you decide to pick that game up? I haven't played it since nobody had anything good to say but is it any good?

I can't wait for Donkey Kong Country to be released. That will bring back good memories.

Well, dispite my distaste for the controller, I ended up getting a Wii today at Target. ADD-riddled story follows:

Anyway, my mom and I decided last night we were going to go to Target early this morning to try and get POTC: DMC 2Disc again (we went Tuesday and they were sold out, so they told us to try again on Friday). So, after Seminary, some school and breakfast at Steak N Shake, we went across the street to Target at 9:30, an hour after opening. Naturally, it was fairly busy because of the holidays and such... Anyway, we were walking through the parking lot and I saw a guy walk out with a white box in his bag. I am always fascinated by what other people buy from stores so I looked closely and barely saw the tradmark Wii letters through the bag. I asked him how the hell he got one and he said they got them in this morning. They had 36 of them, which surprised me, and they were first come, first serve. No big advertisments, no lines, nothing, just get to the electronics and get a Wii while they lasted. They were very busy but we didn't wait a long time at all until we'd gotten one. I went combing through the DVD's looking for POTC while mom got the Wii. By the time I'd found the disc, which took a few minutes because for some reason they had non on the main kiosk and I had to check the back wall to find them, mom was already paying for the Wii.

It's a Christmas present, so I won't be able to say if playing it in my house is better than playing it in GameStop for another 2 1/2 weeks. I'm sure the remote will grow on me over time. So there you have, how JM got a Wii by total accidental luck and with no effort at all. ;)

Cheers,

Enjoy it! I know I am. Surprisingly, I'm completely addicted to the pack-in game, Wii Sports. I have barely played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. That's not to say that it is a bad game, but, Wii Sports is one of those titles that surprises you, because it pulls you in, and you keep coming back, over and over. It's also a title that you can play for just a little amount of time, or for a long amount of time, depending on your mood. I've found myself getting a few minutes of Baseball and Tennis in, in the mornings, before going to work. My favorite games on it are Baseball, Tennis, and Bowling. Boxing is exhausting, actually, although it is fun. I completely suck at Golf. I believe it's not the fault of the controller, as much as it is me, because I suck at Golf, in real life. I've found that I really enjoy the Wii remote, and it feels completely natural to play using it. It's funny, because I've become accustomed to playing using the Wii remote. The other night, I put Super Smash Bros. in the Wii, and plugged in a GameCube controller, and it felt a little odd playing that way, because I'm now used to playing with the Wii remote.

Also, creating Mii's is completely addictive. I've created several of my family members, friends, and a few celebrity Mii's. Right now, I have Madonna, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Clinton, Charlie Brown, Brandon Routh, Gandhi, Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of Mario), and a local news anchor, Terri Hood. I may have more, but, that's all I can think of, for now. Just play around with creating Mii's, and you'll find a load of fun in that, as well.

Now, I just need to get a wireless router, so I can connect online, and start downloading Virtual Console titles. Of course, I'm mostly anticipating Super N.E.S. titles, such as Super Mario World, Pilot Wings, Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, and hopefully titles such as Super Ghouls and Ghosts, Super Adventure Island, and Actraiser. I'm also hoping Nintendo will put up the AWESOME Mario compilation, Super Mario All-Stars!

All in all, I'm very happy with my Wii, and I have to say that it is actually my favorite console since the Super Nintendo Entertainment System!

I think America is somehow biased againt Red Steel look:

Official Nintendo Magazine UK - 91%
NGamer UK - 90%
IGN UK - 8/10
--------------------------------------------
IGN - 6/10
Gamespot - 5.5/10

see what i mean?

I think it's good but the controls need getting used to and it's really hard and tiring on the arm, I have played it for 6 hours and still havn't finished Level 1 yet :(

I got my Wii today! I ,am so happy and have been playing for a couple of hours. At first the controllers are weird! But Tennis is the best! Ive been playing for an hour with my dad. Yes, my dad and he hates computer games!

Zelda TP just brings back great memories from Zelda OoT. They have a few of the same songs, characters ect. and a level of sarcasm! But mabey that is to unfold later in the story. I dont know if this Link knows the current princess Zelda, I cant figure out the timeline yet. But do not tell me cause I wanna figure out what happends!

conclusion! At first Wii is weird! play 1 hour and you love it! You get hooked! so long Playstation 3, Wii is gonna beat you on every level!

Here's the scores I would give to the games I've played so far:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 9/10 - Beautiful game, first Zelda I've played and it's made me wanting to hunt down a copy of Wind Waker and download every game on the VC that has Zelda in the title

Red Steel - 8/10 - Amazing, love the soundtrack and the swordfights

Wii Sports - 8/10 - Who needs the gym, who needs the outdoor world infact anymore?
Tennis - 9/10
Baseball - 8/10
Bowling - 7/10
Golf - 7/10
Boxing - 4/10

VC Games:

Donkey Kong Country - 8/10 - If you're in the USA reading this, download as soon as it appears on the VC over there

Super Mario 64 - 9/10 - The N64 launch title is still as good as a Wii VC launch title

I got such a workout from Wii boxing, although I almost conked my poor girlfriend with a baseball swing :)

I agree, Tennis is by far and away the best game on the compilation, although that is partly because I actually play tennis as well. It is also the most intuitive control system.

As for Zelda, it gets better as you progress. I'm not that far into it, and the only niggle I have so far was the fiddly controls on the first fishing bit (the later flyfishing game looks a lot more fun).

I've been having a lot of fun playing GameCube discs though, with Resident Evil 4 and Super Mario Sunshine recently being added to my collection.

Each to there own I guess :)

I'm finding it hard to find Gamecube games on the high street actually, I was looking for Wind Waker and Super Smash Bros Melee with no luck

I agree with you about Boxing. It's quite fun, but, it is the most exhausting game in Wii Sports. Tennis is great, but, I've come to love playing Baseball, more. I also love the Training and Fitness Mode. Wii Sports is a great package, and I'm glad that they included it with the Wii.

I agree with you on the first fishing session in Zelda. What a major pain in the butt. I must have spent 30 minutes trying to catch two fish for that damn cat. Then, I later read online that the key is to cast it out, and basically sit there for 10-15 seconds. You don't have to pull on it, trying to lure the fish on. Just cast it, and sit. Works like a charm. I'm not far into Zelda, myself, but, it's really an awesome game. I've transformed into the wolf, got out of the castle, found the sword and shield for Midna, killed a few Dark Beasts, and met the first Light Spirit. Now, I'm supposed to go collect some Spirit Insects, or some such thing.

Hopefully I'll be able to get a Wii soon. My friend has had one since launch and completed Zelda last week. I think he said it took him around 50 hours cause he walked around and explored a lot. He said that the only thing bad about the game was he thought it was too easy, and that the puzzles and dungeons were easy compared to other Zelda games.

Has anyone played the Gamecube Zelda? Just wondering what all the differences were compared to the Wii version. I've thought about picking it up to hold me over until I get a Wii, but I don't want to spoil the experience of playing it on the Wii.

The Best Zelda previous to Twillight Princess would have to be the Ocarina of Time for the 64! I played that game for hours and hours and never got boring! It is know as being the best Zelda game out there with most people. The Windwaker sucked, dont get that one.

Twillight Princes is good but not as good as Ocarina of Time. I am not so far into the game yet, cause I have only just met the second lightbeast thing and had to find a bridge and such. I am near Kokoriko village if I am correct.

It is nice to see some of the places from Zelda Ocarina of Time return into the story, but everything is just too easy! Ocarina of time was really hard, with all the songs and all the exploring. I mis the songs! I hope some sort of songs come back in this version at a later time, or some sort of instrument but time can only tell.

Zelda is still rocking my world, along with the few GameCube games I've picked up.

I got the Wii Remote + Wii Play box today for a reasonable price, so I look forward to more mini-gaming madness. As planned, I also picked up the Simpsons: Hit & Run for GC with a bit of birthday money.

Has anyone played Far Cry: Vengeance yet? It seems to be out here already, although I can't find any reviews online for it. Previews seemed quite positive though.[/i]

My Wii code is: 2007-6359-0251-6774

My nickname is: MadonnaMan

Alright, everyone here who has a Wii, add me, let me know, and I'll add you.

I'd get Super Mario 64 if you don't have it yet. Out of the three games you mentioned, I'd go 1. Ristar 2. Toe Jam & Earl 3. Sonic. Sonic is available on the Sonic Mega Collection and would be a much better option since you get more games and it would be only a little more money new or used.

Here's IGN's review for Far Cry: Vengeance...
http://wii.ign.com/articles/751/751136p1.html

Supposedly it looks pretty abyssmal and the controls, while better than Red Steel's, are flawed. It's unfortunate since I was really looking forward to playing this one.

For a 3rd post, here is a link from Nintendo to get your Wii-straps replaced. They've issued a recall of the straps that came at launch and replaced the .6 millimeter straps with one's that are 1.0 millimeters thick. This applies only to Wii's that were shipped prior to December.
