It's been two weeks since my posts saying they were coming, and I'm actually still going through the ten movies and their discs gatheirng notes about them (runtimes, who's in what features, which features can be edited together, which can be dropped, etc.), along with my general internet searchings and research. So far I've completely finished writing my longform specs for the first two films, but have stalled on the third. I'm doing the same for a Harry Potter set, so I won't actually be posting the complete finalized ones for either for quite some time.Mickeyfan1990 wrote:Escapay, I would really love to see what you've came up with your Star Trek Movie Set.
In the meantime...

What part of "I'm going through all the features and making notes on a lot of things" did not register in my last post? I'm thinking up names and descriptions and runtimes for new featurettes/documentaries, along with getting runtimes and writing descriptions for the existing ones. I'm not just doing a simple retread of the current features with a vague "all-new documentary!", "all new featurettes!", "and more!", or some other half-assed attempt. That's not my idea of Ultimate Edition.
I wouldn't want to buy it though. The compression issues on the bonus discs would be murder:T-SoD wrote:Appr: $4,280.00

Original & Animated Series: 4 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
ENT: 4 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
TNG: 7 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
DS9: 7 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
VOY: 7 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
Movies1-5: 5 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
Movies6-10: 5 discs of bonus material now on 1 disc
Not to mention a bonus disc with a 5-hour documentary, another documentary, so-vague-no-titles-or-descriptions-are-even-thought-up "all new featurettes", trailers, etc.
Someone needs to educate themselves on the actual capacity of DVDs...

I'm sorry. But look, imagination is your greatest power. Those "All New Featurettes" and " much more!" can be any thing you want it to be. It can be productions notes, screen tests, deleted scenes from the original series, the legacy of Star Trek, etc. The only limit is your imagination. And Escapay, take all the you need for your Star Trek Movie idea. I was just looking foward to see it, that's all.

Yes, but that's why I'm a bit unimpressed. After all, the whole point of this thread is to see just how creative you can become if you could make a DVD the way you want it. I'm sure you can do more beyond just adding "all new featurettes" and "much more!" Why not SHOW us what those featurettes are? Create names and descriptions and don't simply leave it to *our* imagination. What if we want to see what you can imagine, what you can create? Anyone can take a listing of bonus features and add "and more" and call it "Ultimate Edition". But it'd be much more worthwhile and fun to actually create as much as you can for whatever you feel encomposses "all new featurettes" and more. For all we know, "all new featurettes" on any of your sets could be "How to Boil Water and other Simple Kitchen 1-2-3's!" What benefit is it for us if we have to read through a long list of already existing material, and then have to wonder, "Gee, what did Mickeyfan1990 want those new featurettes to be?"Mickeyfan1990 wrote:imagination is your greatest power.
