Actually Ichabod, they're making Shrek 3 and the fourth one is the Puss in Boots spinoff.

BT Toy Story 3-4. Without Pixar involved, you can't get me to buy a ticket (and I'm a guy who wants to see Shark Tale!)
Cheers,

Without Pixar , this will definitely be garbage. The Pixar guys really have their stuff together, and the incredible animation is just one aspect of it. Toy Story and TS2 had great direction, smooth storylines, and the usually overlooked character development that was top notch. If Disney were capable of Toy Story, they would have done it on their own already.
And dont get me started on SharkTail , what a joke of a movie. Are we sheep or what.. bbaaaaaaaaaaaaahh
Jules: You know the shows on TV?
Vincent: I don't watch TV.
Jules: Yeah, but, you are aware that there's an invention called television, and on this invention they show shows, right?

That's great news for Disney but for the media it's horrible because without Pixar Disney is well just Disney.

Don't anyone remember how good Dinosaur was?

Please! For me it was a bad attempt of an already tried formula and never equaled: THE LAND BEFORE TIME. Not only the movie used the word "enough" so many times I lost count. The journey felt rushed (like Atlantis) and they even stole the climax from The Lion King. I mean, if you want to copy something from a movie make it little and brief but, how dare you stole the climax? That's like the biggest memory you have from the movie.

Disney needs to come to its senses and realize that if their last animation movies flopped at the box office it wasn't because of the format used but because of the storylines and the way they were told.

actually, Sharktale is on its way out. It dropped to 2 million on tuesday, while the #2 on the Box Office, Ladder 49, increased. By the end of the week they'll be close together wich is pretty sad for Sharktale. It's dropping fast and hard.

I guess CGI isn't immortal, Sharktale had a poor storyline according to the majority of the critics and the dropping Box Office numbers show the audience feels the same way. I guess up till now all of the CG films were good, it's down from here... I actually think Shrek 2 was the peak, but that is just me thinking.
But the point is, before people cared about the story, they flocked to the cinema to see a CGI film. They didn't flock to see Home on the Range, or Brother Bear or even Lilo and Stitch in the same numbers. You need to look at the numbers going to see a film before much information about the film is available to the general audience (who, contary to opinion don't read or pay much attention to reviews).

SharkTale still shows people are more enthused about CGI films than handdrawn at this moment in time (and I doubt one film will make any significant change in opinion in the near future).

Disney Moving Forward with Toy Story 3

Post by saving107 »

this is from www.comingsoon.net

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Studios is actively moving ahead with its sequel to Pixar Animation's two "Toy Story" movies. The trade says Disney is in the process of setting up a digital animation facility in Glendale that will be used for the production of Toy Story 3.

David Stainton, president of Walt Disney Feature Animation, is developing the sequel, as is Andrew Millstein, who headed the company's now-shuttered animation facility in Orlando and has already begun the process of recruiting animation heavyweights from rival animation studios and effects shops.

Disney chief executive Michael Eisner said in October that Disney was actually working on two new sequels in the "Toy Story" series at the same time. "We're doing two 'Toy Stories' at once," Eisner said.

A spokeswoman for Disney elaborated at that time, saying, "They're working on different story ideas with the hopes there will be a 'Toy Story 3' and another after that."

Hmm...do you think they'll pull a Halloween and make the third movie completely unrelated to the first two?

No? Didn't think so. So I guess we'll have to see Disney's vision of the Pixar characters...

And I quote Dr. Ian Malcolm: "This is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas."

I hope they really do this well. But the question is, who will animate it? The Feature animation departement have pretty much announces the features that will be released over the next few years:

2005 Chicken Little
2006 A Day With Wilbur Robinson
200? Rapunzel Unbraided
200? American Dog
200? Fraidy Cat

So will TS3 be released after these features, or will it be done by an animation studio other than WDFA (perhaps the same studio that make Mickey's twice upon a christmas) and released somewhere in the middle?

I think that disney doesn't know when to stop, they can't leave any origianl alone, and in my opinion, they are going too far, i mean Aladdin II & III, Lion King 1 1/2 & Lion King 2, Peter Pan II, Little Mermaid II, Jungle Book II (there were O.K., but non as good as the origianl), but the worst of them all Cinderella II, that was just horrible.

now they are adding Bambi II to the list and a Toy Story 3 and 4.

this is a bad idea,

I think the reason that we're all concerned here is because we dont know if Disney can do CGI in general. We know little about Disney's own CGI skills without Pixar from the film Dinosaur and Chicken Little wont come out for another 8 months. I know it is kinda early to judge but there's much at stake here including: budget, production efforts, and STORY STORY STORY!!!

I wanna panic anyway. Pixar should take Disney to court and get the toys back! Heh!

Also in the words of Ian Malcolm:

RAW!!!!

I agree with most of you that this idea is dreadful. Even if Pixar was to do another Toy Story sequel, I still fear that the franchise will get stale. They need to stop now while Buzz and Woody still have their dignity!
