I'm glad it's getting a 2-disc set just to match Lion King, but it does seem like they missed a big oppertunity with TLK1.5. If Lady and the Tramp II can get a commentary track, why not Lion King 1 1/2, especially when it would be really interesting? The filmmakers could talk about how they created their own story within the framewok of the original, and whatnot. Plus explain why they forgot that Timon clearly doesn't know Rafikki. ;)

Also, I've said it before and will say it again: What idiot forgot the Timon & Pumbaa episodes? Sure, I'm not expecting every single episode of the show to be crammed on here as bonus, there's too many, but there are definately some which would fit naturally on this release, such as the show's version of Timon's exile and running into Pumbaa, and maybe something with the hyenas (they had their own shorts within the T&P show), or the show's pilot episode.

As is, most of the stuff we ARE getting sounds neat.

Disc 1
Deleted Scenes - Looking forward to seeing these. Really, though, if they're good they could probably have been kept in, seeing as the feature is only 75 minutes long. We'll see.
Find The Hidden Mickeys - After I watch the movie a few times and become fermilliar with it, I will be Mickey hunting with this viewing mode. This'll be fun!

Disc 2
Who Wants To Be King Of The Jungle? - I'll play. I liked the show.
Timon & Pumbaa's Virtual Safari 1.5 - The first Safari was amusing, so I'll go in for this too.
The Making Of The Lion King 1 1/2 - I hope this will cover some of the interesting points and I'll watch it, but I don't think it'll be nearly as good as it could be.
Timon: Beyond The Legend - Looking forward to this. The clip on the official site is really funny. But I agree it is fluffy.
Nathan Lane Audio Outtakes - After the complete lack of anything from the voice actors on The Lion King DVD, I'm really looking forward to hearing these.
Name That Character - *shrug8. I'll probably pass, or play a little just to see what it's like, but I can take it or leave it.
Music Videos And Much, Much More! - If I watch everything else on the DVD, the music video will be looked at once for completion's sake, as it was on The Lion King, but it's not something I want to watch a lot, nor is it something that I think the set will benefit from. I can pass. And, erm, what's the Much Much More? The only extra I can think of that isn't listed here would be Easter eggs, the sneak peaks on disc one, and the disc 2 preview on disc 1.

The Magical World Of Cheapquals

I'd have to say on one side I agree with most when it comes issues such as Disney Direct To Video, but the QUAILITY of these little gems aren't always up to par and that's my largest argument. (Quality being compared to theatherical releases.)
On the OTHER hand, as Disney exposes itself more and more to the DTV market, they should take a cue that sequals will only have so much life, they should throw something ORIGINAL into the mix and try a hand at that maybe. I mean how many more "Terriable Twos" can we really take, hugh? Please if we MUST have DTV, pitch something new into the mix before "real" Disney fans get feed up. And since "fans" (visually educated that is) only make up 45% of the market (Don't believe me, how many "families" do you think splurge on such releases as "The Treasures"?) PLEASE BABY....although they should... the "typical" movie watcher still isn't educated about things like WS and PAN and SCAN even with the market blooming with 16:9 HDTV and stuff like that....the "average" person is just another "watcher" and mindless just picks up something new at Wal-Mart......and they still make up for the largest market percentage so how much voice do we have...not alot I can tell you that much.
Disney is a company married to the dollar bill, and the only reason things like WS and Special Editions are taken off is mainly because the market of "live action" movies are uping the demand for such.
If you want it, I've got it. Need Disney Treasures, Truelife and some series email me for my list.

People bash them and call them "cheapquels", but Disney actually goes to the effort of putting out a 2-disc release (making them less "cheap"), and that isn't good enough either.
Normally I would agree with you, oh Great Luminous One. I too strongly believe all of Disney's animated films should get a 2 disc release.

However there's a problem with the Lion King 1.5 2 disc set. The whole thing is just full of what we call "fluff". There seems to be nothing, bar a 15 minute "making of" about the actual making of the movie - and I'm sure that will just scratch the surface for the kids.
Firstly, it's "Loominous One". A common mistake :D But I take your point.

I still stand by the "all animation needs a 2-disc" claim, but the more I look at this, the fluffier it sounds. It IS a Lion King disc after all :) What could we expect from one of their biggest franchises over the last 10 years. Value? Quality? Something that informs us about the animation process, both big bidget and DTV?
