I got mad when I saw all three Walt Disney Treasures because they were different and the back cardboard wasn't glued. The disc cases are now white instead of black and it wasn't signed by Roy E. Disney or didn't have a band. Must say that I wasn't please with the Treasures like I was before from Wave 1 to 3.
I really hope that they changed it back to the original for the future waves.

I'm going through the Mickey in B&W disc 2 right now. Its really amazing that these films look as good as they do! One I'd like to point out in particular is Mickey's Man Friday. There is a scene where Mickey is chopping down trees that is simply amazing. It looks like it was computer generated, it has a funky 3D effect. Of course it was all done by hand, but it is really cool. I guess it shows that you don't need a million dollars of PCs and software to make a cool 3d animated effect.

MMBW2
This set is a real treat though....I watched the vault short from 1935 "my man something" I didnt know that had B&W mickey shorts in 1935. I am also a Floyd Gottfredson fanactic. I love the comics on the extras. Can wait to explore this set.
Something in me hesitated when I bought the Pluto set, but I bought it anyway. Gotta have it. Looking forward to looking at this one as well.
I am getting over the packaging...The content is what counts.
I have to admit that I still have a bunch to explore on the previous waves yet. I like to savor them.

Where does it say these were done in México? i looked for the usual mexico sticker when i read your post.. all i could find was Printed in USA"[/quote]
The shrink wrap of the DVD has the screen printed reference to Mexican production.
Also, to anyone.... Any news/insight (besides Ult. Disney's calendar mention of Treasure editions of "True Life Adv" and one that includes "Donald in Math...") on the future Treasure installments? Donald V2, additional Silly Symphonies?
I figure, since the additional Davy Crockett DVD was outside of the Treasure line, any future Mickey Mouse Club offerings could follow suit. I don't know how one could sell all (3?) seasons in an economical way. But, it would sure be nice to have at least "Spin and Marty" and "The Hardy Boys."

Um
I have not bought these dvds yet but I plan on buying them after Christmas. I looked at the ones that they had at Costco. and I hate the new change on the tins. I mean whatever happened to the bLue Band, and the back of the tins are so pathetic. And I hear that they have White Cases now, instead of Black. This Whomps!

Thank's for the info C3PO and welcome to the forum!C3PO wrote:The shrink wrap of the DVD has the screen printed reference to Mexican production.
I looked at my shrinkwraps and Pluto and MMBW2 have it but
the Mickey Mouse Club one doesn't. It only says "Buena Vista Home Entertainment" on that one. Hadn't noticed them before cus they fell over the blue stuff. (After opening and taking the slipcases out, i close the tins and insert them back into the shrinkwraps)
About insights to the future treasures, well a couple of topics ago (One called leonard maltin/treasures, it's in one of the previous pages of this forum) a couple of UD members quoted replies from him about the series (Nothing in particular tho) so you might wanna check that thread for a treasure fix

Cool! Does this signify the return of the PWCE (Puffy White Clamshell Edition)?Disney Guru wrote: And I hear that they have White Cases now, instead of Black.

I've mentioned this before, but the only thing that really bothers me is the card glued on the tin. I can deal with the missing band, the white cases, the serial numbers off the tins etc. I'm just too ecstatic about the releases that I can't complain about anything else.
One question though. On the front of Complete Pluto it says 1930-1947, but on the inside case instead of the dates it says Volume One. I can't think that they would be planning a second Pluto volume when this one contains all of his starring shorts. Anyone know why it might say this?

Practical Pig, last time I counted I got 27 Pluto appearances still "missing" (if I counted correct
) that could fill a whole vol/treasure. (Haven't double checked if some of these titles are on other treasures, possible treasures, or other miscellaneos discs)
If you have the treasures out of their tins (like i do) and read the spines, it looks weird saying The Complete Pluto just like it says The Complete Goofy when it's not. You could argue the same thing happens, lets say, with Mickey Mouse in Black and White since it doesn't say vol 1 neither, but it's not saying The Complete Mickey Mouse in Black & White.... I think at the preproduction stages it was gonna be a Complete Complete Treasure and at some point it got changed and they were a little sloppy at updating/formalizing the covers..
Anyway as I've mentioned, the shorts looks mostly grain/noise free and very handsome so the splitting in 2/minimum compression Pluto Superbiting seems to work nice.

I would expect Disney to put a few more double-dips on the next Pluto set as well to pad it out.
Well, I've just got my sets today, and none of the changes bother me. Really, I know some people appreciate the tins a lot, but with 3 more tinned treasures I've run out of space for this wave, so looks like all will be tinless from now on.
But instead of complaining, why not actually look at what you are getting. For $3 more than a normal disc (if full recommended price is paid) your getting:
1. Restored Cartoons from the 1930's onwards
2. Content that has never been available on home video before
3. Content that has been unseen for decades
4. Un-PC content that is way ahead of anything other studios are releasing from their 'Vaults' at this time
5. Ancient TV programs that must have been a nightmare to clear
6. Limited pressings
7. A Tin
8. A Lilograph
See, its still a bargain, especially considering points 1-5! People should be estatic about this wave, if only for the second Black and White Mickey set and what it contents represent and the statement Disney are making.
Yet people complain about the tins
If you want to tell Disney something, tell them "Yes, thank you for releasing EVERYTHING".
There are however two complaints about this wave. Firstly, why no Donald? They really should finish what they start before starting something else. Does this mean Complete Pluto V2 will be 2006? Secondly, the Pluto set does somewhat look like its been split for no real reason other than money.
I also think that MMC should have been left until 2005? Why for? Because then each Wave would have stuck to its "One Mickey Set" rule (although I know MMC isn't really Mickey Mouse). I think they included it as they wanted at least one live-action set per wave, but really I would have been happier with more themed Disneyland episodes.
Oh I do have one complaint about the packaging. The damn security seals. What is the point of these? The package is also shrink wrapped. Why do you guys put up with them all the time. Two of the sets were OK, but it took me over 7 minutes to get everything off the Mickey Mouse set.

I agree with 2099net. The content is what's important. That's what we watch on the monitor. Thanks Disney for releasing EVERYTHING.
Treasure indeed.
We can change the slipcover, donwload printable bands, glue the backcover more securely, and if you really wanted to, engrave the number of your certificate on the tin.

Its true that the content is more important. Its ture that we can make our own bands and paint the back of the tin, but why should we. As far as I know we are paying them to do it. It seems that Disney is using the "all that matters is the shorts" mindset against us, they just say"what the heck they only care about the shorts anyway".deathie mouse wrote:I agree with 2099net.
