Re: Hexed
Woah, Divinity, please fix your spoiler tag! It wasn’t a huge spoiler but, I’m trying to stay surprised when I see the film!

Kris Bowers Scoring Disney’s ‘Hexed’
https://filmmusicreporter.com/2026/10/1 ... eys-hexed/
I will absolutely take a Disney score from Bowers.
This is thinking like four steps ahead and taking several things for granted, but it'd be nice if he got another "score nomination" for this movie like he did for "Wild Robot."
Latest word is also that our prologue is going to have hand-drawn animation.

New featurette with Rashida and Hailee, and little glimpses of some new footage.
It's looking like Billie and Alice are going to meet up fairly early in Hex, but Billie is notably on her own when we see her with Beef the three-eyed cat, so I'm wondering if there's going to be like a schism or if Alice is going to be kidnapped or something.
Hailee Steinfield is also premiering a new song with the film, which will be out this Friday.

Re: Hexed
My thoughts about the final trailer is how it`s interesting that Billie is going to be shown as a baby. Despite how it feels derivative, it still gives a resonant reason to Alice for refusing Billie to yearn to Hexed. I liked Billie`s design as a baby and those parts were adorable. The carpet scene at the square with the moon logo reminded me a little bit of those parts from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Both Beef Roger Crummchuck and Centipede Monster looked like they could belong in Alice in Wonderland. The microwave part was funny. My only gripe about the trailer was how the final song was bland and forgettable.
The second trailer felt more whimsical and schizophrenic as a whole. But I liked the introductory scene between Billie and Crummchuck, the dark skinned man`s outsider-comment (who has an Aussie accent), the pigs, the green female head with the cards, Billie in the crystal ball, the green firefly-like creatures on Billie`s head and those thorn-like balls at the end. The designs of the frogs were very generic. But it`s remarkable how Billie is going to be from Ohio. As for the featurette, I liked the part where Billie grows taller, how she unleashes her powers in the room, her trying to fly and mother and daughter giving a high five with their cloaks on. The pick-a-boo scene was tacky, though. It really strikes me that Billie`s struggle of controlling her magic is similar to Elsa`s struggle in the first Frozen (despite how Elsa`s struggles was definitively played for poignancy, as opposed to what it`s most likely going to be for Billie).
But I disliked Merida`s design, as it was too ordinary. I know some people found her design unique, but I found her design to be lackluster.

Frankly, while the mother/daughter dynamic in Brave was given some depth and complexity, it felt awfully derivative as a whole. The dynamic between Ellinor and Merida (a stern mother and a rebellious daughter) was very Freaky Friday-esque and wasn`t distinctive enough. But I liked Ellinor`s design better than Merida`s. As Ellinor was somewhat attractive. It`s remarkable for a Pixar movie how the mother was more attractive than her daughter, lolDisney's Divinity wrote: ↑Wed Oct 14, 2026 11:14 am Really the only other one I remember with a mother-daughter relationship as the focus was Brave and I...wasn't crazy about that movie. Loved Elinor's design (more in the concept art than the finished film, but still), but Merida's was terrible and I wasn't crazy about Merida as a character altogether.

Thanks Divinity and yes, to you and DisneyFan09, Merida’s design is so bland. It’s like “let’s make her head and eyes and everything with circles and then add crazy red hair”.

Song's out.
My sources tell me that this song has actually been around since the '80s, I'm just woefully out of touch with culture.
The performance itself is pleasant enough. It's interesting getting to have the lead voice actress sing for what I'm presuming is the end credits in a movie that isn't a musical.

I like the new version of the song. It wasn`t perhaps unforgettable, but it was still cute and catchy enough on it`s own right.

Re: Hexed
@Duster: The post already had "spoilers" written at the beginning of it...everyone that can read would've been fine. And anyway, the High Witch being the protagonist's grandmother isn't even a spoiler now that it's appearing in English ads as well. Tbh, it being in any ad already made it a non-spoiler if we're being honest.
Hopefully she's not redeemed in the end. But both the Kubo parallels and formulaic Moana elements don't bode well; both the grandfather in the former and Te Ka in the latter become non-villains at the end. It'll be a shame, too, since both Jodi Foster and the nice crow-esque form she takes could potentially add up to a good villain.

Listening to most often lately:
Ariana Grande ~ "oh well"
Sombr ~ "My Body Isn't Ready"
Kacey Musgraves ~ "I Will Always Love You"
