Thanks for sharing! Looks like something out of a 2000s WDAS movie, from animation to tone. It was an obvious Lion King spoof, and yet it looks more enjoyable than that.

It's lovely. It should have been made.

Speaking of which, I did do a bit of a dig into what's going on with that 2D Cleanup Training Intern Disney's doing this year, and it sounds like, from what the head of the project, Rachel Bibb, says that this is a case of them "testing the waters."

https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/ur ... 759414272/
[W]eโ€™re testing the waters with the summer internship. But I hope this is just the first phase of rebuilding the hand drawn craft at the studio in the years to come. Keeping my fingers crossed for more opportunities down the line.
Take this with a grain of salt, but it does seem to me like that there IS an interest within Disney that there are people who, deep down, WANT to see 2D animation again, and this person seems to be among the few who wants to see it happen. Test of the waters or not, it's still something interesting. I'm all for "rebuilding handdrawn." Still like those classic films, even though I've lately been spoiled by Anime. (Just saw The Colors Within, and it was quite good IMO. Also can't wait for The Day The Earth Blew Up and Light of the World.)

Another short film by a Disney veteran I won't be able to watch because they don't make them available online or on physical media.

Maybe itโ€™s just me, but Iโ€™m getting some Brother Bear vibes in terms of the way the polar bear is animated/drawn.

Well, yea, brother bear looks the way it does because of Aaron, it'd be odd if it didnt give off that vibe. He probably draws bears more than anything else.

I hope people are watching the Day the Earth Blew up, its in theaters now here in the states, but most people have no idea it exists, because I guess ketchup has a near non existent marketing budget for the film. It was in danger of being pulled just one week after release, but I guess word of mouth has it holding on a bit longer.

Personally I've been struggling to get out to see it as I do not drive, and my local theater I grew up around has closed down for good. Meaning to go to the next closest theater is now a lot more complicated and expensive for me.

In other news, a new clip from light of the world as popped up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Psgqe8Wu7Uo

A bit off topic, but I'm wondering if anyone reading this might know how I might obtain a chromacolour 15f animation disc? Its been out of stock for years, and I'd really like to have one.
https://www.chromacolour.co.uk/black-pl ... c-16f.html

There are cheaper alternatives that are in stock, but this is the type I've seen used by disney animators like Aaron blaise, the bancroft brothers, etc. so there's just a part of me that really wants to own this one.

Realistically I know I only need a basic lightbox with a cheap acme pegbar taped on, but I want to mimic the setups I see used by the legacy animators.

The closest I've found in stock is this guy from india who sells these.
https://www.instagram.com/kaartoonz_2d_ ... CxBYYxTUU/

He sells both 12 field and 15 field, but only the 12 field ones have the style I want. I want a 15 field one that looks like that, with the black border around it like the chromacolour ones. Yes, I'm being too picky, but I know what I want. lol
I eventually want to have a kem weber animation desk, I'm thinking I can find someone who has more woodworking knowledge than myself to help me build one. I figure its gotta be more affordable to approximate that design than to buy a real one.

I've tried contacting chromacolour and they said they would check to see if they have a used one knocking around, but I don't have high hopes they'll get back to me. They said they want to start producing them again, but manufacturing costs have gotten too high.

I've been checking auction sites and haven't had much luck. I did find one on facebook marketplace a state away, but because it was pickup in person only, I wasn't able to get to it in time.

Wow, that Cadbury commercial is basically a shot for shot remake of โ€œBe Our Guest.โ€ Iโ€™m surprised they got away with that!

Well, I did my part in supporting hand drawn, got to see the looney tunes move in theaters.

And funny enough, as soon as I exit the theater, I saw the news that Coyote vs acme is now getting released by the same distributor that saved "the Day the Earth Blew Up", which is honestly baffling, since it sounds like that move bombed.
I wont complain, I just don't understand it. Coyote vs acme isnt hand drawn, but maybe this means the Day the Earth Blew Up did better than I thought.

To me it looks like they used a ton of cheating to create this.

As in, there's a lot of copy and pasted frames, like they will grab body parts and just slide them around as opposed to drawing a brand new frame. It gives it a youtube animation quality to me.

So the King of Kings, a 3d animated movie chronicling the life of Jesus, was released 3 days ago and so far had made 19 million dollars which is very impressive for an indie animated movie. With this is mind, I am confident Light of the World will make the same amount or even more during the same time period considering its hand drawn animation, which many people really want to come back on theaters and the fact that its created by a lot of Disney ex- animators, directors, and producers which itself a good marketing. The overall art style of Light of the World seems more 'attractive' than King of Kings which will attract the attention of a lot of people so I'm wagering that this movie will be a box office success.

For Lotw, some sources said 20 million, others said 15 million, but I know they haven't spent a ridiculous amount of money on the movies like Disney like to do. Maximum it would be 50 million.
