To my knowledge, no, there isn't. What most people do is buy a vr headset and attach that to a pc. You can then play 3d blu ray if you have a blu ray player drive, but this is still a lot of hoops to jump through, so most people just download the movies using alternative methods.

If 3D hadnt mostly died out and handn't become such a niche, it would be more accessible, but right now its kind of gone underground, which is sad, because vr is the best way to experience 3d movies, as it does not dim your view the way 3d glasses do.

Thank you, I might try with my brother's VR set. I'm not really into 3D, I only own The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and Moana on 3D (mostly because of the covers) and I only want to try Beauty and the Beast at least once since I never watched it on 3D (except the ballroom scene).

I need to check out Beauty and the Beast 3d again. Its especially worth checking out as, as far as I can tell, its the closest thing to the original (darker) colors as you can get now, surprisingly.

The 3D version has almost no color editing of the original material because when they did the restoration for the Diamond edition release they didn't expected a 3D version and also the restoration material was not compatible. It's a rushed project of putting the film out after the theatrical 3D success of The Lion King. They went or used previously extracted layers from the CAPS in-studio digital ink&paint computers to create the depth and the stereoscopic images making the only version with the original 'problematic' colors as the monitor technology back then wasn't advanced and accurate as it became later.
I haven't watched the 3D film lately but I don't remember being dark at all, actually it's even brighter (and blueish) but haven't checked lately, if you prefer it this way. Also there's no way to watch the 3D version in 2D, just watch the left or right picture and I don't recommend, it's edited for 3D. There's no scanned film option available to see it as you remember it in theaters. They say there's a new version that you can catch randomly here and there that looks right but.

I’m excited about seeing The Lion King next month (7/12) for its 30th Anniversary rerelease. I’m going with 2 friends who HAVE NEVER seen it!
Afterwards, we’re going to dinner at an Indian restaurant. We don’t have any African restaurants locally so we figured Indian would do, as Asia does have Asian lions.

Andreas Deja has shared pencil tests of Scar to commemorate the 30th anniversary of The Lion King. He also talked about how he came to be Scar's supervising animator, revealed Scar's early character design, and relayed the creative reasons behind Scar's character design.

In a new interview, Elton John talks about how he saved "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from being cut and also says "Circle of Life" should've won the Oscar instead. Here's also a video of the interview.
The “Tiny Dancer” singer confirmed to Variety that he played an influential role in ensuring that his song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” was not deleted from Disney’s “The Lion King.” John saved the song from the cutting room floor, and it went on to win the Oscar for best original song.

“The whole Disney team came down to Atlanta and showed me a rough cut of the nearly finished film, and there was no ‘Can You Feel the Love Tonight,'” John told Variety. “So I asked, ‘Where’s “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”‘”

“And they go, ‘Well, we just couldn’t find a place for it,’ and I go, ‘It’s a love song. Every Disney animation film has a great love song. You really ought to reconsider this,'” John continued. “I was quite astonished that it wasn’t there, and to Disney’s credit, they went back and found a place for it, and it won the Oscar.”

John also quipped that he felt that “Circle of Life” should have won the Oscar instead of “Can You Feel the Love Tonight.” When pressed on why, John said, “Because it’s the song of ‘The Lion King.’ ‘The Lion King’ starts and you hear ‘The Circle of Life,’ and you think of ‘The Lion King.’ To me, that’s the song that makes ‘The Lion King,’ but I’m not going to complain.”

Has this been reported before? That’s up there with Katzenberg wanting to cut “Part of Your World.”

Apparently, it has. Here's, for example, an article from 2016 where it's mentioned. I remembered the song went through several iterations (one version was sang just by Timon and Pumbaa, etc.), but I don't think I knew it was almost cut either. It looks like Katzenberg didn't learn anything from "Part of Your World." Although, Elton John only says good things about him, both now and in that article.

I don't know if it's equal with the POYW story, but it is surprising. I admit I never liked the song in the film, I really only like Elton John's version of it, but it's undoubtedly been very popular over the years.

Well, that`s cool news. But I`m hoping that it will be available on the Norwegian version of Disney Plus. Cause not all of the new documentaries and concerts have arrived at my local Disney Plus. Since the last 20/20 documentaries that were worth looking for (Disney 100 A Century of Dreams A Special Edition of 20/20 and The Untold Story of Mary Poppins A Special Edition of 20/20) never arrived on my Disney Plus.

I kinda skimmed Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl, and just like I expected/hoped, they did end up finding a better take of Jeremy Irons 'be prepared'. I was really curious how that would cut together, since he sounded great in the fan recordings but kinda fumbled the words a bit.

And I was surprised to see that 'one by one' is considered canon with the ip. I know it was written for the movie, but wasn't sure if it still counted.

That was absolutely spectacular. I'm not sorry to admit I cried for most of it. It was great to see Lebo M, I have a huge respect for that man, and Jeremy Irons did amazing. Brilliant celebration of a movie that means so much, to so many.

VERY cool! Perfect animation! I guess that was Jeremy Irons, Scar's real original voice actor and his real response?
