Thanks David :D

Disney's "Toy Story 3 On Ice"...........

Post by dvdjunkie »

Tomorrow (Thursday) at our Downtown Sports Arena (Intrust Bank Arena) Walt Disney's "Toy Story 3 On Ice" premiers for a four day run with shows in the evenings Thursday and Friday, and Matinee shows on Saturday and Sunday (six shows in four days).

Last time they were in Wichita, was at our old venue, The Kansas Coliseum, and the seats were so far from the ice that you didn't feel like you were part of the show.

With our new Arena, the seating is very close to the ice and it should be a very good, 'immersion-style' event.

Tickets are very reasonably-priced so the whole family can go without breaking the bank. The Saturday show is a special priced Kid's Day with all tickets $5 for kids under 12, accompanied by an adult paid admission, which is $9 for that show.
The only way to watch movies - Original Aspect Ratio!!!!
I LOVE my Blu-Ray Disc Player!

I don't know if there is another thread about Disney On ice but I wanted to write my opinion about last shows.
I always go to the shows that they make in Madrid every year. It's like a tradition to go and ejoy it but in the last few years I have to say that I have the feeling that it's the same everytime. They are telling the same stories, using the same characters and each year the "stage" is more cheap. Now they are using screens and it makes me feel like they have lost all the magic that they had.
Frozen is in every show. I know that it's popular and the theme goes right with an on ice show but it's very frustrating see how much time it has while other stories are told in less than 5 minutes or even in one song!
Also the merchandise looks cheap and fake. The plush toys looks like an aliexpress copy. The dolls are really weird and I don't understand why they are selling palace pets stuff after so many years with the franchise on active. I rememeber that years ago the merchandise was cute! The mugs were really well done and they sold exclusive things.

When I was a kid, Disney on Ice used to come to my small city. But I’ve noticed that I haven’t seen advertisements for Disney on Ice shows since I was a kid. I see they are coming to a bigger city a few hours from me in November. I’ve never been to a show, maybe one day just for the experience.

I don’t know anything about the merch, but I know the YouTuber Beauty Inside a Box is based in the UK and some of his wonkier dolls are from Disney on Ice.

The dolls are one of the ugliest things that i've seen.
As I said I go all the years. Before Frozen shows were kind of different, they have different stories from all movies (101 dalmatians, Peter Pan, Cars, Lilo and Stitch...) but right now they always make almost the same show with the same stories (TLM, Frozen, Toy Story and Moana). They introduce new things but not so often as they should. They added Mary Poppins returns and Encanto in one of the shows but they share the show with the same stories that are in other different shows
They renewed the 100 years show they removed Pocahontas, It's a small world, Pirates of the caribbean and lots of cute stories to introduce Frozen. The result was awful.
Another thing that I relaized about is that they are affraid of using the Disney Princess brand for the shows. Last show that came to spain this year was all about princesses and they called it Mickey y sus amigos (Mickey and his friends)

Ahh! That’s the first time I’ve heard of Mary Poppins Returns actually being incorporated into anything outside the film. It’s sort of disappeared since release and I think that’s a bit of shame since there was a lot of love put into that movie, and the score is really strong. It’s not perfect, but it has it’s charms.

I had some issues playing the video, so I’ll have to come back and finish it later. But what I saw looked “loverly,” so thank you for sharing!

Yes! I remember poring over those websites as a kid. I distinctly remember asking my mom to take me to the Jungle Adventures show.

Jungle adventure looked so good! I didn't to to this one. By this time I only went to The spirit of Pocahontas. After so many years I watched Mickey's magical journey.

I've never been to Disney on Ice, but I recall looking into its history and was interested in a couple of different versions. I know they had a DuckTales story back in the late 80s/early 90s which featured what I believe is the only Gyro Gearloose fur costume, and there was also a Gargoyles story that started in the mid 90s and lasted for a couple of years. I doubt much, if any elements from either of those still exist, but I would have been interested in seeing those.

:o :o :o

I’ve never heard of this! I’ll have to research this… that would have been so cool! I hope Elisa was a part of it.

I’ve seen pictures of the Goliath costume that made appearances at the parks. I keep hoping they’ll bring him back for one of their special events at Disneyland (90’s Nite, Disney Afternoon, etc.). I wonder if that costume is similar to the “ice” version?

EDIT: this DeviantArt user says this picture is from their old program with Gargoyles on Ice: https://www.deviantart.com/thewizardofo ... -500104606

So cool!

Yes. It looks like the pictures that they used in the programa that they made by this time. I have a few of them and the pictures have the same style.

Walt Disney's World on Ice 3-D, which toured from October 1995 to 2001, was the third and last Disney on Ice show to include elements from the Disney Afternoon - in this case, Goof Troop, A Goofy Movie, and Gargoyles.

The only Disney on Ice shows I remember seeing were the Beauty and the Beast one back in the early 90s, the Toy Story one in 2000 and this Disney Princess one back in 2014.
