I don’t have Disney+ because I want to support Woke Disney as little as possible, but I thought that the whole selling point of Disney+ was that the WHOLE and ENTIRE Disney library of content (except for canceled items like Song of the Song)
would be available for screening.

I guess I was mistaken...

Disney Working to Get Streaming Platforms on Technical Par With Netflix, Iger Says: ‘We Need to Be at Their Level’
https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/disney ... 235930773/
“We need to be at their level in terms of technology capability,” Iger said about Netflix, speaking Tuesday at the 2024 Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

“When we launched Disney+ in 2019, our goal was to have basically robust video experiences at scale,” Iger said. “What we didn’t have was the technology that we needed to basically lower customer acquisition and retention cost, to increase engagement, to essentially grow our margins by reducing marketing expenses.”

Iger continued, “We’re now in the process of creating and developing all of that technology, and obviously the gold standard there is Netflix.” He said Netflix’s technology prowess is one of the reasons its margins are so much higher than Disney’s, and that Disney’s streaming churn rates “are higher than they need to be.”

FOR THE FIRST TIME ON 4K UHD AND BLU-RAY!
THE FALCON AND THE WINTER SOLDIER SEASON 1, MOON KNIGHT SEASON 1,
ANDOR SEASON 1 & OBI-WAN KENOBI (4/30/24)

https://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my-t ... 30524-0658

Sorry for "yelling"- copy/pasted from the site. The first website I read this news on mentioned The Mandalorian, so I figured Season 3 was coming to Blu, but no one else is reporting that so I'm bummed. I haven't seen Andor yet, but heard only good things and I love Rogue One, so I'll probably pick that up at some point...I watched some of Obi-Wan but my ex wasn't into it so we never finished it. Running Leia/her outrunning the bad guys was meh, so maybe I will or won't pick it up.

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Disney+ will premiere the new season of "Doctor Who" on Friday, May 10th at 7:00 PM EST--exactly when the BBC's iPlayer service will launch it and prior to the next day's linear airing on BBC One.

This decision is seen as a way to calm British viewers' concerns that the Disney+ audience would be able to watch the show before the BBC audience would.

Disney to ‘focus on quality’ as it plans to cut output – including Marvel movies
https://www.theguardian.com/film/articl ... vie-output
“I’ve been working hard with the studio to reduce output and focus more on quality,” Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, told Wall Street analysts. “That’s particularly true with Marvel.”
But also ...
Disney’s intellectual property is “second to none”, said Iger, who added he was satisfied with the company’s balance of original and follow-up movies. “There’s a lot of value in sequels,” he told investors, as they are part of “known” franchises that cost less to market.

Bob Iger Reflects on Disney's Streaming Launch: "We Invested Too Much"
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/busin ... 235899938/
"As we got into the streaming business in a very, very aggressive way, we tried to tell too many stories. Basically we invested too much, way ahead of possible returns. It's what led to streaming ending up as a $4 billion loss."
"There's a very fine line that you can cross and get in trouble if your volume ends up diluting management's attention to what is being made is right. And that's what happened to us. So I have pulled that back."
"I've been telling everybody good isn't good enough. It has to be great. Just keep driving that, but if you force them to make too much, then that becomes almost impossible to do."
Basically, Bob Iger finally admitting what we've all been telling him since day 1 ...

Also, glad to see things up and running again around here.

It does seem like Disney hasn't been releasing much to Disney+. It feels like the last high profile Disney+ movie was Peter Pan and Wendy which was released more than a year ago.
