The Sound of Music Super Deluxe Edition CD

Just wanted to let all Sound of Music fans who might be unaware know that a 4 CD soundtrack with over 40 previously unreleased tracks and alternate and extended versions will be released on December 1, 2023. It’s pricey ($109) but I think it’ll be well worth it.
A 2 disc version is also being released for $29.

Can’t wait but I’m gonna see if the price comes down a bit before I order it.

My boyfriend had never seen The Sound of Music until I took him to a 50th Anniversary screening. He loved it!

I have the restored vinyl on my Christmas list, so I’m hoping to find that under the tree this year.

The CD set is just over our Christmas spending limit so I’ll probably buy that with my own money in a few months’ time. My CD of the soundtrack got eaten up by my old car CD player so I’m well overdue for a replacement, and the bonus tracks make it especially enticing.

Curious to see if/when Disney releases Poppins and TSOM on 4K. I think there is a rumor that the team who worked on Snow White and Cinderella is working on Poppins (among other Disney titles), so hopefully that one is released next year for its 50th and TSOM follows in 2025 (or sooner, nothing wrong with sooner).

I would gladly buy 4k of any Walt era releases (and a few post-Walt such as Aristocats, Bedknobs, Robin Hood, Rescuers and Pete’s Dragon (1977).

I am so excited for the SDE of TSOM!
I’m hoping it’ll get a theatrical reissue for its 60th!
