You can always not watch the damn short if it bothers you that much, all he did was draw over a single frame. Let's see him do that with 500 characters.
I'm in some ways I'm excited... in some ways disappointed. Excited cause it could be a very fun concept for a short, and a lot of the execution might be great. But, like many have mentioned here, a lot of the characters are off-model, specially human ones: at times the anatomy is off... some of the cleanup isn't great. I suspect they had to outsource a lot of the animation and cleanup... I don't think they have much 2D staff at the moment. And why are the colors so saturated on the 2-D characters?? Makes it look more like a cheapquel than a proper classic...
I would bet Eric Goldberg did those Mickey and Minnie animations... and Mark Henn did Tinkerbell.
Either way, I am looking forward to seeing this! I wonder what other characters will show up.
Considering James Baxter did Belle, Beast and Quasimodo, I expect them to look good.
Hopefully Mark Henn did Ariel, Jasmine, Mulan and Tiana, so they should look good too.

Well, after having seen the trailer, I must say that I`m torn. When I saw it on my mobile, the animation looked adequate enough. But seeing it again on my computer, it looked cheap. The only adequate looking moment was the part where Mickey and Minnie leaps out from the picture and at the end where Mickey tells Goofy to be careful. Aurora, Philip, Cruella and John Henry looked jarringly off-model. However, it was nice to see Meeko in the trailer, due to how the bad staple of Pocahontas. The part where Elsa freezes Hans was funny, despite how it was contrived as well. Otherwise, the trailer wasn`t bad. I`m still going to watch the short, despite how I`m disappointed by the low quality of the hand drawn parts. However, it still was expected, due to how we live in a world where the resources of good quality of hand drawn are limited.
Speaking of John Henry, I was under the impression that -- apart from Mickey and the gang, Chip and Dale, etc. -- only the characters from full-length, theatrical films would be featured in the short. Did John Henry even play in theaters? I thought it was released DTV as a part of an American-themed shorts compilation.

Yes, it played before the re-release of The Nightmare Before Christmas at the El Capitan before getting released on DVD as part of American Legends.

I honestly don't care how iffy the designs/animation for some of the characters are. I'm just glad we have something from the studio that uses hand-drawn animation again in some way. I liked the part in the press material that the old animators are training/helping the new hand drawn animators with this short; it's honestly kind of sweet.

I agree with this, 100%! With that said, it's kind of a shame that animators didn't put in the care and eyes for details regarding the 2D animated characters, like Princess Aurora and Prince Phillip. They look very sequel-ish... The same with Hades. I wonder why Andreas Deja wasn't a part of this?
This is mainly the result of Disney neglecting the art form and wasting a full decade of training potential new traditional animators.
It’s crazy to think there are very few artists out there who can deliver what Disney was producing annually in the 90s. Thanks to CGI we’ve actually regressed.
But there is nostalgia and renewed interest among artists so I could see this turning around. The fact that CG films are moving away from their polished look is also a result of this.
I’m still curious about this short. I think it will be a mixed bag but cute enough for what it is.
Will Finn just posted this on his Instagram. I guess this confirms Iago, Jafar, Tarzan, Jane, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip, March Hare, and Merlin. There are two other characters on the second slide but I can't make them out in full. Eilonwy and Horace Horsecollar maybe?
