Thank you, Sotiris and D82 for all your help and info! I'll do some reading and watching tomorrow during work (I have a job where I can be on my phone like that, lol)!

I just wanna do a comparison now. I find this:

The comparison between these costumes is not fair because the Disenchanted ones are from after Giselle's wish takes effect and she's transformed into a villain. It makes sense the style, cut, and color palette of her wardrobe would change to reflect that. However, I do agree about all the other examples you cited. The original is obviously better in every way. I have no delusions about the sequel being as good as the original. But so far, it looks decent and without something too egregious or cringe-worhty and that's as good as it gets from Disney nowadays.

When the trailer came out that included the scroll talking, my husband immediately knew it was Alan Tudyk! He was a fan of that show he was on years ago so he knows that voice...

He’s literally doing his King Candy voice so that was pretty obvious.

Still disagree on the costumes. Some of the ones from the original are lackluster in my opinion. Especially Narissa’s. Which always looked kinda bdsm-ish and over the top. Maya’s costume is superior to me. And Amy’s new blue dress looks much more eye popping and well designed than the one she made out of curtains (which isn’t a fair comparison because that was supposed to look a bit hand made).

To each their own I guess. :)

The animation doesn't look bad. Animation looks fine to me and as close to the animation of the first movie as it can be. I don't see why people are, as usual, complaining.

Very disappointing. :( Pip's animation is decent, but Edward's is horrible and Nancy is completely off-model.

Oh come on, Sotiris. It's not that bad, I mean it looks better than how the Rescue Rangers look and it actually looks hand-drawn.

Here's the new promo in better quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u18JHm49Fo

I think the animation looks a bit better here. It's like the quality of the DTV sequels, but I don't care; I'm just so relieved it's not cel-shading animation like in Rescue Rangers.

Let's hope hand-drawn animation continues making the strong comeback at Disney it can with Lassetter gone now that Tiana is coming in 2024 and delayed a year to HOPEFULLY prove they are going back to the hand-drawn watercolor style of Disney, whatever form it may take. Some say Wish is more growth in a return to hand-drawn animation. It might be given that they said it blends traditional 2D Disney hand-drawn/watercolor animation with 3D computer animation, but we'll see. More convinced the hand-drawn style will really come back thru Tiana than Wish.

I've just noticed there's a character that looks a lot like Tinker Bell in that shot. I wonder if it's an important character or just a background one. And it looks like Pip will be the narrator this time, right?

Oh, I really like how the animation looks. It's so good seeing them do hand drawn animation once again.

Legit, Edward looks like a light skinned Naveen with Flynn Rider's hair here.

I think it's just the extreme pose exaggeration in this one clip because he looks fine in the other scenes.

Stephen Schwartz says that two songs that were cut from the movie "are on at least one of the versions of the soundtrack recording." Does that mean there's going to be more than one version of the soundtrack? Or is he referring to the digital vs. physical editions? Regarding that, a CD album is now listed on Amazon, so there'll be a physical release of the soundtrack after all. It'll come out on December 9. Stephen Schwartz also says he hasn't seen the completed movie yet:
Stephen Schwartz, who served as the movie’s lyricist in his fourth movie collaboration with composer Alan Menken, has yet to see the completed movie. “I’ll be watching along with everyone else when it’s on Disney+ later this month. Needless to say, I hope the movie has turned out well, but truly, I have no idea.”

He recently worked on mastering the soundtrack album at a studio in Los Angeles. “I thought it came out very well and I’m especially pleased that two songs that were cut from the movie are on at least one of the versions of the soundtrack recording.”

Well, to give my thoughts about the animation: It`s certainly not as marvelous as it could`ve been, but still not completely awful either. It was expected to be in that quality, so it`s a step up from the awfulness of Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers movie. After all, while the animation in Enchanted was good, it wasn`t as brilliant as it could`ve been, either (sorry to those who likes the animation). Sure, Nancy looked somewhat off-model, but she looks more like a caricature of Idina Menzel than she originally did.

True, but I think he looks like Dimitri from Anastasia otherwise.

The difference in quality, design, and coloring is quite stark. :| There's really no excuse for not getting the look of Edward and Nancy right. Did they not bother consulting the original model sheet?

His animation in that scene looks like the infamous Li Shang one from Mulan 2.

Maybe there's going to be a deluxe edition with cut songs and demos, but it's a long shot. Whether it's on the digital or the physical release, at least we will get to hear them this time around. Still frustrated that at least three cut songs from the original have yet to make it to the public in any form.

It's actually their fifth movie collaboration. They wrote a song for the movie Noel (2004), though that wasn't a musical. They also worked on the canceled TV movie of Hunchback and the canceled movie Larry Poppins for Universal. It was going to be a musical about the son of Mary Poppins, Larry, played by Josh Gad.
