They wouldn't have hired you if they didn't think that you would do a good job!!!! Super understandable to be nervous and excited, though! I hope you enjoy it as much as you can enjoy a job!

Thank you, Duster! And thank you for the encouragement, Amy! I start the job today. I have a lot to learn, but thankfully it’s an operations role at the museum I’ve worked at for awhile so I have a bit of a learning curve.

Congratulations! Did you just remember your password or did something else happen? I know other people have also had troubles with logging in.Hogi Bear wrote:Well, after a very long time of not being able to login, I can login!

Thanks. Well, I changed my email address a number of years ago and changed it here, then went to log in and a page saying I needed the administrator to reactivate it loaded. So I sent an email to Luke and waited, but I know how stressful things can be and I never followed up. Then today I got an email saying my account had been reactivated at my new email address, so I logged back on in my bus ride home.UmbrellaFish wrote:Congratulations! Admittedly, I haven't visited the site as much as I use to, but I'm glad it's still active and I can join in again.
And congratulations on the the new job, well deserved.

Re: What good thing happened to you today?
I was offered another free month of Amazon Prime! There's supposed to be some big Prime deal thing going on 6/20 and 6/21... Has anyone participated in that in years past to know if the deals are any good? I know there's currently another B2G1 thing going on because Amazon always follows Target's lead.

Re: What good thing happened to you today?
I am always broke on Prime Day. Which for me is probably a good thing haha. Congrats on the free trial!
I got to touch the teeth of a 5 million year old mastodon today. I have touched fossils before, but there’s something different about these teeth. In life the bones were covered under tissue and muscle and fur, but the mastodon used these teeth every day to chew up leaves, nuts, bark. It’s one of those things which makes you feel very connected— to touch a piece of past so prehistoric it predates man. Pretty amazing.

DD, this *News* tab on Google Search has articles about some announced Prime deals!:

UF, that is SUPER COOL!!!!! How were the teeth (are they attached to a jaw?) preserved for all these years?

Re: What good thing happened to you today?
The fossil had already been reassembled, so they were inside the jaw. But I am not sure if there were originally found that way, with the teeth inside the jaw or nearby. 5 million years ago the museum/fossil site would have been a small lake and this mastodon was likely crushed to death by a rock slide. It’s remains were left in the lake which dried up and filled with sediment preserving the mastodon and many other fossils. It went from being a 100 ft deep lake to a rather steep hill over the course of 5 million years!

Re: What good thing happened to you today?
Well, after I think a 9 year hiatus (where all I did was basically come to the forum and look around once every few months), I’m back. For a long while I was effected by the log in issues like so many, but I finally figured it out and am posting again! Good to see so many familiar names still!
