farerb that is one of my biggest issues with the restoration they’ve been using since the dvd release. It is simply nothing like the original at all, and all depth is gone. The colors are gaudy and pink, red and yellow. The subtlety and honestly the sheer classiness of the overall production is diminished. I don’t mean to sound overdramatic but the restoration keeps me from watching the film anymore. I just get angry looking at it. It looks like a Saturday Morning cartoon now, not a Disney Classic.

The old colors feel very European in tone...the new ones seem inspired by Baywatch with Belle's red hair and tanned skin. I really wish there was a proper fan restoration of this film which brought back the original colors.

I've noticed the same thing with Aladdin in this screenshots comparison so it might be an effect caused by putting the digital files on 35mm:

I´m glad that I´m not the only one who dislikes the restoration of Beauty and the Beast. As you´ve said, the restoration makes it looks Saturday Morning cartoon, not a Disney Classic. It has always bugged me.

Mulan as well:

Seems like the lighting is an issue with all the CAPS films since their masters are made from the files and not from a 35mm scan

I don't know if it was posted before, but here is a proof that the Beast's name is not Adam:

Glenn Keane joked that the Beast's name was Adam, because he made the Prince look like Michelangelo's Adam. That's how the rumor got started. I guess Don Hahn is saying his joke doesn't count.

And here is proof that it is.
Disney has the name Adam on products. What Disney says counts more than one person who is not in charge and don't own or makes business decisions in the company.

^ That 2nd link says the doll is a replica, one of a kind. (The name plate on the packaging looked not like from a doll company, not professional enough, so I scrolled down!) Packaging on 3rd link says Belle + Prince. Idk if the Vinylmation is legit or not...

^^ It appears to be just one official product, though -- the Funko figure. The Limited Edition doll is custom-made and the Mattel doll set has only "Belle & Prince" written on the box.

Edit: Amy beat me to it.

I feel like this is more of a fandom thing that somehow made its way into some official merchandise and was later canonized or adopted by fans as his "official name". I believe a video game was the first instance where "Adam" appeared.

Adam always felt like a strange choice for the Beast's name to me. As Don Hahn says, it doesn't really sound French. No that it matters but it says a lot about the film, that such a detail as the prince never being named doesn't detract from the story or the film's quality.

But also, even if giving him a name wasn't the original intention, this wouldn't be the first time a name of a character or object was revealed in merchandise or subsequent productions. The Kingdom of Atlantica was never named as such in the original Little Mermaid.

^ I was literally typing my response in the doctor's office; she came in and I didn't think I had hit Send!!

So, everyone selling theirs online is calling it Prince Adam; I saw one other listing that showed the bottom of the toy and it said Prince Adam but idk if it's the same photo as above or not. But that seems legit...

It's true. I see the Adam thing similar to that, in that it was something that became so commonly repeated, it was generally accepted. I mean, it's not like Disney can blame it on fandom, since the name came from a Disney game (which I owned as a child, btw). I don't mind Adam. I admit it's not a French name, but the Bible is old as time, so I'm sure the French had a copy.

In the end anyone can choose whatever they wish to follow. I only shared that video of Don Hahn that I found. I personally give more gravitas to the people who made the films than whoever works in the merchandise department, which is why I don't subscribe to the Aladdin/Sleeping Beauty/whatever theory and don't consider any of the sequels/TV shows/books/remakes to be canonical. So to me The Beast doesn't have a name, Atlantica and Corona don't exist, Ariel never had a daughter, Simba and Nala had a son at the end, Scar didn't get his scar from an evil snake, Maleficent and Hades don't have a thing, etc, etc...
But again these things are subjective and that's just my personal preference.

What SB/Aladdin theory?! I know of the "Tarzan is Elsa's/Anna's brother" theory...
