With the rights to the Fantastic Four back in Marvel’s hands, it seems they’ve already started planning how to introduce the First Family. The GWW is hearing, but cannot confirm, that Marvel Studios is aiming for a 2022 release for the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot. Sources also say that ‘Ant-Man’ director Peyton Reed is pushing to direct, and has already pitched his vision for the movie to Feige multiple times. Reed’s pitch includes a 1960s setting that involves the Quantum Realm, and possibly The Black Knight.
Today The GWW is reporting that Marvel is targeting a 2022 release date for the MCU Fantastic Four reboot. I can back up their report as I have heard from two separate and independent sources that they are targeting a release around that year. It’s said to be a pretty high priority within Marvel Studios due to what the title means to the company. Fantastic Four was Stan Lee’s first superhero creation in the 1960s and kicked off the Marvel we know today.
Jessica Chastain recently called out GWW for their false reporting on one of her upcoming projects (they said cinematographer Roger Deakins dropped out, who she says was never attached to begin with), even calling them an "untrusted outlet", so I think we should add them to the list of dubious clickbait news websites and take their articles with a massive grain of salt.
"There are two wolves and they are always fighting. One is darkness and despair. The other is light and hope. Which wolf wins? Whichever one you feed." - Casey Newton, Tomorrowland
I think Phase 4 has already been planned so I'm not sure if we'll see the FF anytime soon. Maybe there will be hints of Silver Surfer or Galactus seeded into some of the next films like GOTG3 or The Eternals.
We’re a dyad in the Force. Two that are one. "I offered you my hand once. You wanted to take it." - Kylo Ren "I did want to take your hand. Ben's hand." - Rey
I don’t really care for superhero movies, but apparently Marvel has announced the cast for Fantastic Four: Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn
Saw the movie last thursday. It's really enjoyable. The scrip is basic but the characters are really well developed. Sue is amazing and for the first time I see that she's represented as the most powerful of them all. The aesthetic of the film is great and I think that this is really important in a Marvel movie because they use to create worlds that use to look generic. In this case they made a great work mixing vintage aspects of NY with some futuristic touches. It gives you the feeling of being reading a comic.
The big problem with the movie is the CGI. It looks really cheap and there's a moment in the film when it looks awful. They need to make better schedules in order to dedicate as much time as they can to post production. They also need to tell much things in Aveners: Doomsday. I don't know how they are going to do that. I thought that this film would leave everything ready for the new Avengers film but it doesn't.
Over all I really loved the movie. It gave me the feeling of being watching and old superhero movie like Tobey Mcguire's Spider-man or the old X-men trilogy. It's a pity that this universe is connected to the MCU.
I don’t know why I’m getting into superheroes now when I let the MCU craze of the 2010s pass me by, but here we are. I think this one interested me for a couple reasons… Pedro and Vanessa, the 60’s aesthetic, the Silver Surfer, a “new beginning” to easily dip into. If I had known beforehand that Natasha Lyonne was also in this, that would have been another incentive!
It’s really unfair to compare it to Superman, but that’s the last movie I saw and it’s the same genre. I had a lot more fun at Superman (I cannot wait to buy it on 4K). But Fantastic Four was still very well done— the central team felt like a real family. Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm was absolutely the heart and highlight of this movie. I really loved the finale. There’s also something about that retro futuristic setting that makes it feel almost Disney-ish, which I don’t know is true of the other Marvel films? The world of the Fantastic Four here felt very much like Walt Disney’s Tomorrowland. I appreciated the aesthetic very much, as well as any excuse to stare at Pedro Pascal.
If Superman was an 8, Fantastic Four: The First Steps was a 7.
The retro style reminds me to Tomorrowland so yes, I felt that I was watching a Disney movie somehow.
Vanessa is amazing as Sue Storm. She's one of my favorite characters from the MCU right now.
