haha

Also, while I am not a huge fan of Cinderella and I haven't seen the movie in a while, correct me if I'm wrong... but I don't recall Cinderella ever wishing that she got married. And let's not forget that Ariel initially just wanted to live among humans. Eric was a catalyst to her decision..
Yes. I think it was stupid of the original film to say only two characters can wear blue. Really, just use a different kind of blue to the effect you want. As for Cinderella, it can be gleaned that she dreamed of finding love, but there is also a sense she dreamed of a better life where she wasn't a slave to an evil stepfamily.

Being important has nothing to do with it at all.
That's only your opinion.

LOL! rotfl They're ALREADY doing that by all the changes they're making!!!

And one other thing:

Disney Duster wrote:And I forgot to say, this film taking place in Winter will finally resolve the problem of how long Belle was gone and her father was searching for her and how it seemed four season all passed so quickly...
…And if it didn’t, the world would not care.

Do we even know if the whole film takes place in winter here? I’m sure they won’t have “Belle” being performed in a cold street.
HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!! The world DID care because the filmakers of this film CARED enough to make the Beast's castle in eternal winter while the rest of the locations are in one season!
Disney Duster wrote:The same book I found out there was a debutante ball with the prince in the beginning of the film has another thing in it that I wanted to post here. I can't post every page of the book because it would be too much, but this little snippet I find troubling and wonder what everyone else thinks about it, concerning one of our other favorite Disney characters:
JeanGreyForever wrote:I didn't find it that troubling mainly because they've been saying this about the Disney Princesses for years now. How Ariel may have been more feminist than the early princesses but she was still deeply flawed and then Jasmine came about as Ariel 2.0 and was a regression from Belle because the filmmakers didn't want her to steal time away from Aladdin.
Hm. Well I still don't like what they say about their own characters these days.

And that's my opinion because major characters in fairytales often go without names.
The world DID care because the filmakers of this film CARED enough to make the Beast's castle in eternal winter while the rest of the locations are in one season!
:?

I'm trying to decipher meaning from this, but... Nope. The only story change I've seen so far that doesn't connect back to the original tale itself would be Belle being the inventor instead of Maurice, which as you've said before could just as easily be because of Emma Watson's own demands and no one else in particular.

Also worth remembering is that there are undoubtedly going to be differences between the live-action film and the original just because it isn’t a verbatim re-make; I wouldn’t use that as confirmation bias of perceived corrections of the original.

If people keep sharing more clips maybe we can do the puzzle and listen to the complete song.

Here are also recordings of a sneak peek that was shown on Disney Channel: http://beautyandthebeastmovienews.blogs ... peeks.html

Hey everyone, who is ready for the full playback of the title song?

Disney Germany published this video with the entire playback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7uMlJcZ9ig
I found it interesting that they added additional music, so you never know when the singer has to start again, especially at the end it seems a bit rushed.

Wow, thanks disneyprincess11! Nice job.

And thanks for sharing that video, Dosencola! The music sounds much louder than the singing, is that intentional?

Emma sounds ok.

It's the whole production that is freaking glorious. This is the movie musical I've wanted to see for so long. I think if done right it could have that magic of films like The Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, Mary Poppins, Hello Dolly. Gorgeous visuals, great music, great costumes, a stellar cast and good old fashioned storytelling.

That last thing in particular seemed to be something that was lost on bloated crap like Nine or the insanely overrated La La Land. Ever since Chicago we've had to sit through an annual movie musical that was more concerned with securing Oscar nominations than actually entertaining its audience.

Emma should be glad she passed on that to do Beauty and the Beast. Audiences will go crazy for this one.

Maybe I'm just not the right person for this remake... haha

For a second there, I got excited for the movie.. Then I saw this clip of Belle and my expectations were significantly lowered... For some reason, the animated version of this scene is less whimsical than the live action.. Which is a shock haha.

Plus, not happy with the lyrics that they changed.. But oh well... I don't know...

Is anyone struggling with this movie?
Like, I wanna look forward to it, but when I think of the animated movie, I can't bring myself to. I'm having a hard time distancing them from each other. :(

I really like the new clip from Belle they showed us. I only have one complaint. When she talks about the book, she talks about it so plainly. In the animated movie, she literally can't wait to tell someone about the story, she's so excited. But other than that, I love it.

I guess I shall have to wait to see the entire thing on the big screen. Three more weeks... :D :D :D

The animated version is a masterpiece and one of my favorites. A live action version should have me very excited, but every clip lets me down.

The creativity and passion breathed into the production jump off the screen in every frame and every note of the original. You can see true artistry at work. This is basically just copying what true artists and creative geniuses achieved almost 30 years ago, so it looks soulless and dull. And because it doesn't look like they're changing or adding much to the original, most elements will likely be inferior, especially some of the cardboard actors in major roles. I'll look forward to the new songs, I guess, and maybe low expectations are a good thing. Better than being let down after finally seeing it

Maybe the animated version is just too good to live up to? I'm not a huge fan of Jungle Book or Cinderella (even though I enjoy both), so I didn't really care about the remakes living up to the originals as much. Beauty and the Beast literally made history with its critical success as an animated film, earning a Best Picture nomination at the Academy Awards (not even Up or Toy Story 3 would have gotten that with just 5 nominees). It's also more recent history than other movies that were remade, so there's not as much distance between the original and the copy. I think this could pose a problem with the huge slate of upcoming remakes of their 90s films in general. God forbid they greenlight a live action Frozen any time soon.

The only thing that bothers me about this new Beauty and the Beast is how the marketing has been hyping it. So many magazine covers and behind-the-scenes featurettes talking about how they've "brought Beauty and the Beast to life."

Excuse me. Beauty and the Beast was already brought to life in 1991, using pencils, papers and hard working animators. Any movie director can pick up a camera and film actors on a sound stage. But animation takes a lot more skill to get just right.

I hope they have the sense to at least wait until the late 2020s. I wouldn’t put it past them to make it sooner than that though. (Notice I'm talking about it as if it's inevitable. )

I'm worried the movie will be largely pointless, with bad CGI and terrible overproduced/auto tuned music. I'm not loving most of the character or costume designs either.

None of the trailers or commercials have led me to believe otherwise.

I'm more interested in seeing what they do with Mulan and Aladdin.

Has it been mentioned anywhere by the costume designer that the yellow dress changed design ? I mean from some of the promo images, the bottom half of the dress is very different, with not half as many layers...less detail I think than the one in the finished film.

Just trying to find any info on it, but can only find the one of Entertainment Weekly explaining the dress.

I was very disappointed when I heard that Emma Watson was cast as Belle. The photos and the video clips have not improved my opinion. I would have cast Vanessa Marano. Anne Hathaway from 10 years ago would been my ideal pick.

From what I have seen, the rest of the movie looks good and I'll be open to it. I just don't know if I can come to accept Emma as Belle.

I'm a Harry Potter fan but I've never been a big Emma Watson fan so this casting didn't thrill me. I would have picked Anne Hathaway or Emmy Rossum if this had been a few years back.

Does Vanessa Marano sing? I know Laura Marano does and I think she could pull it off, minus the box office draw.

I wouldn't have minded either Hathaway or Natalie Portman if they'd been younger. (Since that would also have been before Hathaway became enormously full of herself.) Although Portman wouldn't have been quite as picture perfect as Watson to me.

I watched the clip and immediately my desire to see the movie disappeared. "Belle" has always been my favorite scene for the original. I didn't expect a carbon copy of it for the live action film, but I also didn't expect this lifeless, boring and over-produced mess either. I'll still see the movie, but what little hope I had for it is draining away faster with each new promo piece I see.
